Am I hallucinating? Jas thought as the seconds passed and not a single movent happened, as if they were just standing still, staring at each other like it was a contest or sothing, and it made him sohow believe that what he was seeing was just a hallucination his mind had created because she looked like that.
A hallucination, or a manifestation of what had happened in the past days. A woman who looked beaten up, almost like sobody carved out of the rubble itself, now showing up just to show what Jas’s actions were leading to, and that was death.
Moreover, the thought passed through Jas’s mind that it might be hallucinating that woman, that journalist that she killed at Marco’s house or at least thought he did, but the truth was he forgot her.
He forgot how she looked, forgot her voice, forgot everything about her, the only thing he rembered was that he did it. But it made no sense, because she was breathing, she was real, she was actually there, standing and looking at him in silence like that.
And Jas himself had already accepted death. He had accepted it a long ti ago, and that was why he was not panicking at all. He was not scared, nor did he fear it, it was all just absurd, and he could not tell if it was real or not, so he chose to find out.
"Hello...?" he said.
"H-hello." the woman answered back, but her voice was strange. Rather than anger or a will to kill him, she sounded scared, and because of that, it beca even more absurd, because if she was real, then why was she just standing there like that.
"Uhm, do I know you?" Jas asked, but the question itself did not really matter, because it did not change anything if she was there to kill him.
"I... I think... yes." Her voice was now more scared, hesitant, and her eyes changed too, like sobody who did not even know why she was there.
Not a single clue. Jas knew nothing about her, other than the fact that she did not look familiar at all, and there was just no chance that he had ever t her before.
"I-I am Olivia Ziger from New Life Humanitarian Organization."
The mont she said her organization na, the amount of relief that washed over Jas was sothing that could not be explained with words, because even if he had accepted death, he had still feared the fact of truly dying alone. "Oh, Olivia, how could I have forgotten you." Jas said as he smiled and carefully put down the pancakes. "Are you feeling good? Co in and sit down."
He pointed to the chair, and as he said it, Olivia imdiately lit up, a huge smile forming on her face as she stepped into the kitchen.
And behind her back was not a weapon, but a dossier of what, who knows, but one thing was sure.
Jas had no idea who she was, but the organization she had just nad, he knew, because that was the one Dani had talked about.
When Hector ca back from Arbera and announced that Jas had beco a billionaire, it felt like a dream, nothing less.
But the thing was, Jas did not know what to do with the money, and in truth, he did not really understand it at all. He was still young, and he had no real experience in the mafia and the situation he was in did not really require a billion dollars just to survive or stay in control, nor had he ever even imagined that he would reach sothing like that.
So he did the only thing he thought was right.
At that ti, his morality spoke louder than anything else, and he knew that the family had killed a lot of people, or more so destroyed many lives, so he decided to give the money away.
The man he turned to was Dani.
Jas told him to give the money to an organization that helps others, which at first made Dani think it was a new money laundering thod, but Jas told him that he actually wanted to help, that it had to be a real organization, so Dani started looking around for one.
That was when Dani found Olivia and her organization. It was legitimate, although it had more problems than money, so Dani sent people to help her get the permits and, more importantly, to give her funding.
Basically it was Jas who decided to give the money, but it was not him who delivered it to her directly, nor the one who helped her in person, it was all done through Dani.
And the gun she had seen, with the engraving and the family na on it, was a misunderstanding, because there is a gun manufacturer with the Bellini na, but shit that misunderstanding led her to the truth.
Though that money would an a lot right now, but back then that was a whole different period.
"Uhm, can I first ask how you even got in here?" Jas asked as he sat down at the counter and started eating his pancakes, while Olivia, hearing the question, got a bit scared.
Not just a bit, she was mostly frozen for a mont.
"T-There is a part where the fence is broken." she said, but she did not look at Jas. "So I climbed it, and I jumped in, and I landed in a bush, and after that I ran straight here."
Well, at least it explained why she was dirty and why her face was cut, but it still blew Jas’s mind away.
All the guards, the dogs, and the security, all of it, just for a woman to jump through the broken part of the fence and sprint straight toward the house.
It could have ended badly for both of them, though one thing was sure. Olivia beca the first person to actually break in.
