Standing casually with a maddened expression was a youth who looked to be around the age of fifteen.
Under the pale glow of the moon, blood was dripping lightly from his clothes, causing him to look sowhat inhuman.
Strewn across him were the mangled and destroyed bodies of star beasts who had long since died and were unable to regenerate.
Pant! Pant! Pant!
The youth gasped repeatedly as he struggled to stabilize himself.
His heart was beating like a war drum from the intensity of the battle.
Storing the sword in his universe ring, the youth staggered forward.
He was about to stagger back to his house when he caught sight of a silhouette standing atop the roof of a building not too far away.
The youth didn’t even think for a mont and the sword appeared in his grasp once more.
"Have you co to die?" the youth asked, as the surge of killing intent that had started to retreat erupted violently once more like a tide.
The killing intent was suffocating, spreading outwards for a few ters.
The figure atop the roof glanced at the youth and then took a light step forward.
Instantly, Amon tensed, however the person it turned out to be caused him to be bewildered.
"They attacked you, huh." The gentle voice sounded as she glanced at the star beasts in the surroundings.
"Helena?" Finally, Amon was able to see who it was, dressed in flawless black robes, and he was pleasantly surprised that it was Princess Helena.
"Amon. Sorry you had to be dragged into this." Her lips parted to mouth an apology, however there was no emotion in either her face or her voice.
"What’s this about?" Amon narrowed his eyes and questioned, glancing toward the bodies.
"Star beasts... I noticed you saw kill a student yesterday, but that actually wasn’t a student. Noticing you pose no danger, I didn’t want to drag you into this, but the stench of the star beasts must have clung to you, an oversight of mine." Helena gently explained as she approached Amon with calm steps.
Amon’s eyes narrowed as his alertness sharpened.
He was ready to battle Helena at any mont despite more than five of his cores having exhausted their primordial energy.
"It’s a unique kind of star beast that exists. They can take the form of humans, mimicking their traits completely and passing off as humans despite the many detection tools we possess."
Amon was puzzled by the situation.
"Why not report it to the Academy?"
Hearing his words, Helena shook her head, "It’s much more complicated than you think."
Noticing Amon’s confused expression, Helena finally let out a deep sigh and said solemnly.
"It concerns the formation of a crusade."
"A crusade?" Amon couldn’t help raising a brow in confusion.
He didn’t understand any of the words Helena was speaking!
"A crusade is a star gate above the Mirage, in essence a rank 7 star gate."
Instantly, Amon felt a chill run down his spine.
He had just read about the Pyramid of Egypt, a Mirage, and he understood that even the strongest experts of the world barely ca out alive, then now there was ntion of a rank 7 star gate?
Wouldn’t that lead to the annihilation of the world?
"How’s that possible?" Amon was confused.
Star gates were teors, so they couldn’t just be casually created!
"It’s a complicated process," Amon could hear the lancholy in Helena’s voice as she explained.
"In short, star gates are indestructible, at least in so way. When a star gate is cleared, the star fragnts are sent to the highest research institute of a continent for further study."
"However there’s sothing they don’t know about star gates. When the star fragnts are brought together, by conducting a kind of ritual another star gate can be ford. And the higher the number of star fragnts gathered, the higher the rank of star gate that can be created. It could even be a rank 8 one, plunging the whole world into despair."
After Helena finished speaking, the whole place fell silent and Amon was dumbstruck.
Forming a star gate endlessly?
For a long while Amon couldn’t form coherent thoughts and didn’t know what to reply.
Helena shrugged then started walking forward as her faint voice resounded once more.
"The students of the Academy clear lots of star gates and bring their ruins back to the Academy to exchange for contribution points. The star fragnts are then shipped to the capital, to the royal research, so tell , why else will they be here?"
Hearing her words, Amon felt as though he had understood sothing.
"You an they are here to steal the star fragnts the Academy has gathered so far?"
Helena nodded, then plucked sothing that looked like an octopus from the wall.
She clenched her hand, causing it to break into pieces before shattering like falling glass.
"An octawave. It was used to mask all sounds in a ten ter radius so they could easily deal with you." Helena casually comnted.
Hearing her explanation, Amon finally understood why his fight hadn’t attracted any attention.
It wasn’t that the Academy’s security was lax; the star beasts ca prepared.
’If I wasn’t strong enough...’ Amon clenched his fist tightly.
If it was a shadow fiend, perhaps he might not have survived!
’I need to get stronger... before anything happens!’ Amon felt a sense of urgency since hearing the news from Helena.
anwhile, after destroying the octawave Helena walked up to him once more, "Don’t tell the Academy about what happened here, it would only accelerate the star beast plan and make them successful. Just leave it to to handle."
As Helena spoke, her eyes flickered with a calculating light as though she could already predict the next sequence of actions.
"And if I encounter stronger star beasts?" Amon wasn’t willing to be soone else’s chess piece so he had to clarify his stance on the matter!
"Just deal with them. Or..." Helena handed him sothing that looked like a butterfly, "crush it and I’ll co help out."
"Okay," Amon collected it and stored it in his universe ring.
Internally, however, he was curious and couldn’t help voicing his suspicions.
"How do you know so much about their plans? And how do you plan on stopping them? You’re just as strong as , so I doubt we can do much when it cos to such terrifying figures."
Helena laughed at Amon’s statent.
"You’re right." She said, then continued, "But just leave it to . I know exactly what to do!"
After Helena finished speaking, she strolled around sprinkling a white powder on the surroundings.
The massacre that Amon had caused was vanishing at a speed visible to the naked eye.
After she was done she approached Amon and sprinkled so powder on him.
"This is to mask the scent on your body."
The bloody traces on Amon’s clothes vanished and so did the stench that filled the air.
His ragged clothes, which were the aftermath of the battle, barely covered his body.
Amon stared at her intently before saying, "I hope you know what you’re doing."
"I do." Helena casually said as she silently departed, walking away with light steps.
Briefly she paused then turned to Amon as her lips curled into a smile.
"Amon, you can tell your instructor about what happened here. He’s soone I can trust. And he’s strong... really strong."
After Helena finished speaking she vanished, leaving Amon speechless.
’Strong? Damien?’
Amon tried to connect such strength to the nonchalant man who was always dressed ssily and was constantly sleeping and couldn’t help scoffing internally.
’Things are starting to get more dangerous... as expected of the primordial path. It isn’t easy to walk...’ Amon lampooned.
Still, his eyes were beginning to glow with excitent.
It was exactly this kind of thrill he was seeking!
