Now reading: Chapter 38: Receiving Ataroth Mask Again from Primordial Awakening: They Targeted My Daughter, I Became The Butcher!, a Fantasy novel by IHateWriting.

’If everything was planned from the start, what’s the reason she approached in the first place?’

The thought lingered in Amon’s mind.

Yet the more he thought about it, the less it made sense.

Kayla had never displayed anything unusual.

No special abilities.

No signs of being an awakened.

No strange contacts.

No suspicious behavior.

If she truly possessed a bloodline powerful enough to surpass an A-Rank treasure, then why was she living such an ordinary life?

Why work a normal job?

Why marry soone like him?

Why spend her days worrying about grocery prices, bills, and whether Ciara was eating enough?

Nothing fit.

The pieces simply refused to connect.

Amon quietly observed her.

Kayla was still smiling at their sleeping daughter.

The gentle expression on her face was completely genuine.

There wasn’t even the slightest hint of deception.

After several monts, Amon slowly exhaled.

Perhaps she genuinely didn’t know.

That possibility seed far more likely.

Bloodlines weren’t always awakened at birth.

So remained dormant for years.

Others required special conditions.

There were even cases of individuals carrying powerful inheritances their entire lives without ever discovering them.

If that was the case...

Then Kayla might be just as unaware as he was.

His gaze drifted toward Ciara once more.

First it was her, and now it was Kayla. Amon felt there was sothing strange going on with his family.

’There’s no need to think too deeply it. As the head of the family, I will handle it when the ti cos.’

Amon made his decision and placed the matter aside.

So questions didn’t need imdiate answers.

As long as his family remained safe, everything else could wait.

Beside him, Kayla gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear before standing up.

"We should probably get so sleep."

Amon glanced at the clock.

It wasn’t quite late but amon guessed that the events of the day had drained kayla ntally.

"Yeah."

The two took one final look at their sleeping daughter before quietly leaving the room.

The lights throughout the house were switched off one by one.

Soon, only darkness remained and the two returned to the room.

The bedroom was silent.

Kayla changed into her sleepwear before slipping beneath the blankets.

Amon followed shortly afterward.

For several monts neither spoke.

The room was peaceful.

A welco change after the chaos of the day.

Eventually, Kayla shifted closer.

She rested her head against his shoulder.

"Today was scary."

Her voice was soft and honest.

Amon wrapped an arm around her waist.

"I know."

For a mont neither spoke.

They simply enjoyed each other’s presence.

The steady rhythm of their breathing gradually synchronized.

Kayla looked up at him.

"You know..."

"Hm?"

"I’m really glad you’re here."

A faint smile appeared on Amon’s face.

"So am I."

Kayla rolled her eyes.

"That’s supposed to be my line."

Amon chuckled.

The sound earned a small smile from her.

She leaned forward and kissed his cheek.

"Goodnight, husband."

Amon gently brushed her hair.

"Goodnight."

The room gradually fell silent.

Outside, Cold Moon City continued its restless night.

Dungeons were being cleared.

Monsters were dying.

Organizations were moving in the shadows.

Yet inside the small house, everything felt calm.

Safe.

For a little while longer.

...

The next morning.

Golden sunlight stread through the curtains.

Amon’s eyes slowly opened.

For a brief mont he remained still.

Kayla was still asleep beside him.

One arm was wrapped around his chest as though she had unconsciously claid him during the night.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

Carefully, he adjusted the blanket around her before sitting up.

The room remained quiet.

Even Ciara hadn’t woken yet.

Perfect.

A new day.

Which ant...

Amon’s eyes brightened.

’System.’

[Ding.]

The familiar screen appeared instantly.

[Daily Sign-In Available.]

[Do you wish to sign in or use obtain 3 fate points?]

A smile slowly spread across his face.

Although obtaining 3 fate points were good, signing in was unique and always brought helpful, beneficial rewards to him so amon quickly made his choice without any second thought.

’Sign in.’ He said to the system and a soft chi imdiately echoed in his mind.

[Ding!]

[Signing in...]

[Congratulations Master! You have received a second fragnt of the Ataroth mask!]

[Congratulations Master! You have received B-rank Exp boost. For the duration of a day, your EXP will be x3 its usual ammount gained for every beast killed.]

Amon’s eyes flashed in surprise as he read through the system’s ssage.

He was startled that a fragnt of Ataroth mask had appeared before him again.

Initially, it had appeared once, and now few days later, it had appeared once again.

Amon glanced at the description and frowned.

The fragnt floating before him looked almost identical to the first one.

A piece of dark tallic material covered in countless ancient engravings.

The mont his gaze landed on it, a faint sense of pressure washed over him.

[Ataroth Mask Fragnt II]

[Rank: ???]

[Description: One of nine fragnts belonging to the legendary Ataroth Mask.]

[Collect all nine fragnts to restore the complete artifact.]

[Current Progress: 2/9]

[Warning: Unknown.]

Amon stared at the final line.

Unknown.

Again.

The system rarely provided vague descriptions.

Even treasures far beyond his current level usually contained at least so information.

Yet the Ataroth Mask remained a complete mystery.

That alone was enough to prove how extraordinary it was.

’Store it.’

The fragnt disappeared instantly into his system space.

For now, there wasn’t much he could do with it.

His attention shifted toward the second reward.

A B-Rank EXP boost.

And not just any boost.

Triple experience for an entire day.

Amon’s eyes narrowed slightly.

This reward had arrived at the perfect ti.

He was already planning to continue farming monsters.

With this active, his growth speed would increase dramatically.

His current priority was simple.

Beco stronger.

As quickly as possible.

The strange circumstances surrounding Ciara.

Kayla’s hidden bloodline.

The increasingly dangerous changes occurring throughout Cold Moon City.

Everything pointed toward one conclusion.

His current strength wasn’t enough.

Not yet.

[Ding.]

[Would Master like to activate B-Rank EXP Boost?]

’Activate.’

[Ding.]

[B-Rank EXP Boost Activated.]

[Duration Remaining: 23 Hours 59 Minutes.]

A faint smile appeared on Amon’s face.

Good.

Today’s hunt was already decided.

Just then, he felt movent beside him.

A soft groan escaped Kayla’s lips.

A mont later, her eyes slowly opened.

She blinked several tis before looking up at him.

"...Morning."

Her sleepy voice carried a hint of laziness that Amon rarely heard.

It was surprisingly cute.

"Morning."

Kayla stretched beneath the blanket.

The movent caused her shirt to ride up slightly, revealing a glimpse of her smooth waist.

Unfortunately for Amon, she quickly noticed where his eyes had wandered.

A knowing smile appeared on her face.

"Caught you."

Amon remained completely calm.

"You weren’t exactly hiding."

Kayla laughed.

"You really have beco shaless lately."

Amon raised an eyebrow.

"Recently?"

The smile on Kayla’s face imdiately widened.

"Fair point."

The two shared a brief laugh.

The peaceful atmosphere lingered for a few monts.

Neither seed particularly eager to leave the warmth of the bed.

Eventually, Kayla shifted closer and rested her head against his shoulder.

"You seem happy this morning."

Amon glanced at her.

"Do I?"

"A little."

Kayla poked his side.

"Sothing good happen?"

Amon considered telling her about the sign-in rewards before deciding against it.

The system remained one of his biggest secrets.

For now, there was no reason to expose it.

"Just thinking about work."

Kayla narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

"That doesn’t sound convincing at all."

Amon chuckled.

"Good thing I’m not trying to convince you."

Kayla rolled her eyes.

A mont later, she sighed.

"I guess today will be busy."

"It usually is."

The two remained there quietly for a little longer.

Enjoying the rare calm.

Eventually, Kayla sat up and stretched.

"We should get moving."

Amon nodded.

There was still breakfast to make.

Ciara would probably wake up soon.

And afterward...

His hunt would begin.

Amon’s gaze shifted toward the window.

Beyond the peaceful morning sky, countless monsters were waiting inside dungeons throughout the city.

And thanks to his new reward...

Today would beco a day of rapid growth.

A faint glimr flashed through his eyes.

By the ti the EXP boost ended, his strength would have risen to an entirely different level.
