The challenge is set, and not even the Pill Saints can stop it.
The moment Kent included Sword King Shawn, their challenge became irreversible. In fact, Kent didn't know he had just placed the Pill Saints in a tight spot.
Naturally, they started to panic.
Why?
This is because they knew something wasn't right, and looking at Kent now, they could tell the brat may have tricked them all.
But then again, Pill Saint Enex just doesn't understand why his disciple will opt for ten years instead of the discussed one year.
Did she perhaps want this oute from the start?
This was making him question himself. Of course, his mood didn't escape the eyes of the scheming Barton.
"Are you not feeling well, Enex? It looks like you are sweating," he teased, making sure the backstabbing Pill Saint knew his situation was the perfect karma he could receive.
"At this rate, I will be very happy if that brat is actually the perfect alchemist and he manages to take your disciple from you," Pill Saint Evilyn said with a smirk.
They are all a cabal of scheming bastards, until one of them tried to play smart. But that now looks like he wouldn't be getting what he wanted.
"Let's hope that is the case. From what I learned, you will be losing more than just a disciple. I mean, you think we don't know about your other side?" Pill Saint Riva spoke.
She also seems to want to play her role and make the Pill Saint, who is now having a midlife crisis thanks to his life choices, regret.
They made him regret for a few moments before focusing on the next big plan.
Meanwhile, Kent and Elaine were staring at each other, making sure they sized each other up. Kent held a small smile on his face.
The situation couldn't be any better than this.
Everybody knew Sword King Shawn was a man of integrity.
He is a man of his word. The fact that he even went as far as killing his own disciple just to uphold justice was enough to tell everyone the second round of the petition will determine the winner.
After the duel, the rest wouldn't make much sense.
Kent would want to go all out per their expectation, for being one's servant for ten years isn't something that can be taken lightly.
Elaine wouldn't hold back either.
"Are you ready to bee my servants?" Kent asked with a smile. "Though it wouldn't be as bad as you think. I won't abuse my authority over you."
"I am confident in this generation. I am the best, and I believe in my abilities, so be prepared to bee my servant, Kent," Elaine spoke.
This is the longest and perhaps the most interaction she had ever had with someone who isn't her master. So to most, this was a rare sight.
"I might be the perfect alchemist in disguise, you know," Kent smiled.
Elaine looked at him and, as if trying to scoff, she moved away to prepare for the second round, which had already been labeled as Kent and her challenge.
Kent just chuckled and walked away. A few meters away, Sword King Shawn caught up to him, and they walked away together.
Though he clearly showed he was on Kent's side, or more like he and Kent are familiar with each other, everyone knew he wouldn't pick a side no matter the oute of this duel between Kent and Elaine.
So watching them walk away was just a normal sight to many. They thought they just couldn't understand how someone could be this awesome.
Kent may be a brat, but he has a Sword King on his side. That is enough to tell them he was no ordinary person.
"Are you sure you want to make such a bet?" Sword King Shawn asked Kent, now seated atop the golden carriage.
"I know you have a good handle on your sword, but this is a different world, one where you need to train for years to master pill making.
The lady you are going against isn't an ordinary person."
Though he doesn't know Kent much, he has helped him, so he was just making sure he knew what he was getting into.
"Me being beside you now will save you, but should you manage to win the duel, I doubt her master will let things go that easily.
And let me tell you, the Pill Saints are a scheming bunch, so I ask again, are you sure you want this duel to go on?"
Kent smiled.
"Having the disciple of a Pill Saint as my servant doesn't sound too bad."
Sword King Shawn sighed.
"I guess you should prepare yourself for trouble, though. The oute of this duel isn't something simple, and in case you are not aware, the Evil Sect is on the move.
It was also the reason why I came here in the first place. They are trying to trap you in this city and kill you by all means.
I am afraid this time, more than one Sovereign will show up."
Though he is still at the peak of the Transcendent stage, his soul strength has already transcended the 8th Tier, so he is more attuned to the changes in the air.
This caused him to dig into it, and from what he uncovered, it seems a great battle will take place soon. This, of course, made him wonder who the target.
