It took him a couple of hours, but Kent managed to enter Vastport City quietly this ti.
He wasn't even stopped at the entrance, so he quickly made his way toward the Silver Leaf Auction House, which was still doing thousands in business even after the auction.
"Welco back, distinguished custor," Kent, who had quickly made his way toward the room where he received his items, was greeted warmly.
"Please, I would like to et soone. She is expecting ," Kent said, and the lady nodded.
"Indeed, my lady left word that if you were to appear here, you should be directed to VIP Room One," the lady smiled.
"Kindly follow ."
Kent nodded and started following her. Soon, they were in front of VIP Room One.
"You may enter," the lady said. Kent nodded and entered the room. The mont he did, he ca face to face with a dark-veiled lady who, despite staring at her, gave the impression that her presence was not entirely there.
It was as if she was both in and out of existence.
"You are finally here," her voice, however, was human and full of energy.
"I am here, my lady," Kent said as he sat down. He knew the being in front of him was the strongest in the world, considering the peak of this world was the Core Formation stage, and she was at that stage.
"My lady, huh? Soone of your wealth and background shouldn't call that way," she smiled behind her veil.
"That's the thing, my lady. I don't have any background. If you look, you wouldn't find anything about . So, calling you 'my lady' is more than polite, pleasant, and perhaps... sexy," Kent smiled, and the lady smiled as well.
"Why is it sexy?" she asked.
"Calling you 'Kingdom Protector' is h. Also, calling you 'the lady in the veil' isn't that cute. But 'my lady'? That, I can work with."
"Haha, you are funny," the lady laughed, making Kent smile as well.
"Not many can be this calm in front of if they knew I am a Kingdom Protector. But I guess you are built differently. Your confidence matches your strength."
She smiled, rembering how Kent and his brute handled the bat, who, despite winning against them, still lost and was now hiding in a cave, thinking that would make any difference.
"I try to balance the two. Without strength, overconfidence can only result in your early death—and perhaps a good beating."
"So, are you confident you can navigate the current dangers surrounding you?" the lady asked.
"I believe all those tired of living should approach . I don't mind taking possession of their bodies, souls, and wealth."
"They are in the thousands."
"I don't mind."
"Most are Root Ascensions and ancient battle-hardened beings."
"I'll cross that bridge when I get there."
"What about against the Root Sovereigns? The one you fought against had just broken through. And in case you don't know, the difference between a level 1 and level 2 Sovereign is akin to the gap between heaven and earth.
Can you confidently say you will be able to escape or defend against the attack of such beings?"
Kent didn't answer. He just smiled and recalled what Akira had told him about the Guardian Knights of Sabatan.
He knew he was strong, but he wasn't at the level to be fighting Sovereigns—at least not until his swordsmanship reached a certain stage.
In fact, he knew that without gaining Transcendence, going against Sovereigns would be dangerous. But he wasn't alone.
He had Kaizo, who would soon break through into the Ascension stage, and Veydris, who was sitting at the peak of the Transcendent stage but could solo an Ascension stage expert.
If anything, the question should be whether or not the Sovereign would be able to leave after getting humiliated by a brat and his abnormal subordinates.
"A wise man once said, 'The tal is arrogant because of its hardness, but the mont it is subrged in fire, it becos soft and can be beaten into any shape.'" Kent's smile blood.
"I'm not saying I alone can beat a Sovereign, but when the ti cos, I won't be lying on the ground oozing blood.
I will stand and smile at them, for they don't have what it takes to kill ." His confidence was oozing, making the lady smirk under her veil.
"You should be careful. There are many dangers already chasing after you, so in hiding, just waiting for you to slip up so they can swoop in and take everything."
"I will heed your advice, my lady," Kent nodded to her warning.
"It's good to hear that." She took out a spatial ring and handed it over to Kent. "Only 14 were deed worthy to receive the Spirit Enlightennt Fruit, considering most tried to co after you."
"Thank you, my lady, but I don't really need this. I just wanted to see those who still have so dignity. At least 14 are still humans at heart."
He gave back the spatial ring to the lady and asked for sothing instead.
"In exchange for these fruits, I would like to know the nas of these 14 who qualified for them." The lady nodded and retrieved a scroll from her spatial ring.
"I have their nas, professions, and everything else you will need to locate them," she said, handing the scroll to Kent.
"Thank you, my lady." He smiled as he placed the scroll away.
"You can just call Big Sister Vari. You can always co and visit if you want to talk."
Kent nodded and stood up. He wanted to walk away but stopped and took out a Dark Golden Ambrosia Apple.
"Take this as paynt for helping with my troubles." Visibly, Kent could tell she was shocked, as her hands shook for a mont when he placed the apple in her palm.
"Then I'll be on my way now, Big Sister Vari. I'll see you soon enough, and perhaps, next ti, we can grab dinner and see where this new connection takes us."
His smile contained sothing else as he walked away, leaving the poor lady to look at his retreating back and sigh.
"Just who are you, Kent Madson?" She looked at the fruit in her hands, and her body shuddered.
"I can finally reach the third stage and even have the chance to rise to the peak the mont my Spirit Core upgrades."
