As Ye Xiaofan stepped onto the summit of Array Peak, he was so overwheld by the scene before him that he could hardly speak.
In the firmant above the Array Peak, an endless sea of elental power of heaven and earth had gathered, becoming so dense it was almost tangible.
No, it truly was tangible; within the firmant at the summit of Array Peak, the imnse power of heaven and earth had condensed to a visible, embodied state, as if its descent would herald the end of the world, rendering the entire Divine Peak nonexistent.
But that was not what shocked Ye Xiaofan the most; what astounded him was that all the flowers, grass, and trees at the summit of Array Peak were covered in ancient formation patterns, exuding a world-destroying aura.
The distant shrubs, the green leaves at his side, even the patches of grass underfoot, resembled array flags standing solemnly against the wind, leaving a profound impact.
One could say that everything within Ye Xiaofan’s sight was an array or array flag, detailed to every flower, every blade of grass, every leaf, every tree, every mountain, and every stone.
Here, everything was an array base and array hub, with an overwhelming killing intent that made it feel as though he had stepped into a land of death.
Moreover, looking around, the summit of the array was nothing like a re mountain peak as imagined; it seed to be set with a grand array similar to the ’Shrinking Ground Formation’, and standing atop Array Peak felt like being in a boundless otherworld.
At the farthest end, an ancient architectural cluster, as majestic as a rainbow, lay sprawled across the peak, resembling ancient divine halls. Each brick and tile seed to be flickering with endless ancient formation patterns, terrifying in the extre.
But from their location to that ancient architectural cluster lay an expansive grassy field.
"That architectural cluster has a history of several thousand years. It was built during the peak of Array Peak’s brilliance by those world-shocking masters of array dao. Its purpose was to bring them together to study new killing arrays, from which nurous awe-inspiring killing arrays of the Divine Sword Sect erged,"
murmured an elder of Array Peak, perhaps explaining to Ye Xiaofan, or perhaps reminiscing about past masters.
In those tis, that ancient architecture housed the world-shocking array dao prodigies of the Divine Sword Sect from thousands of years ago. They jointly conceptualized killing arrays there, leaving behind legendary formations that echoed through the ages. Now, except for the old Peak Master, no one resides there anymore.
Not because there were any explicit prohibitions forbidding residence on Array Peak, but simply because the formation guarding those ancient buildings blocked anyone wishing to enter; they could not penetrate the grand array to step inside.
Once-prosperous buildings now no longer see those figures within, yet the grand arrays they left behind have silently operated for thousands of years, incessantly narrating the splendor of that era.
"Go on, the old Peak Master has been waiting for quite so ti." Just as Ye Xiaofan was filled with astonishnt, Yin Tianzheng spoke up to remind him, gesturing for him to look toward where the old Peak Master sat.
Acknowledging Yin Tianzheng’s words, Ye Xiaofan gazed toward the ancient, glorious architecture and amongst the expansive grassland, where an elderly figure, dwindling like an exhausted lamp, sat cross-legged. From the respectful gaze Yin Tianzheng and the other elders directed toward the figure, it was easy to deduce that it was surely the old Peak Master.
After giving Yin Tianzheng and the others a quiet glance, Ye Xiaofan did not hesitate. He imdiately began walking slowly toward the elder figure.
Even from a distance, the sight of that figure gave off a sense of loneliness and desolation.
As he walked, Ye Xiaofan couldn’t help but fix his gaze, sensing sothing extraordinarily peculiar from the old Peak Master’s presence—an aura that was deeply unsettling, even uncomfortable.
As they grew closer.
Finally, Ye Xiaofan suddenly realized, understanding at that mont what that aura was.
"It’s the aura of death!" Ye Xiaofan was thunderstruck.
That unappealing and uncomfortable aura was the overpowering aura of death from the old Peak Master of Array Peak, almost tangible in its density and awe-inspiring magnitude.
Ye Xiaofan found it hard to imagine how anyone could possess such a thick aura of death, which signified that this person didn’t have much ti left, and such saturation of death typically appeared only in those long deceased.
What left Ye Xiaofan even more shocked was that the cross-legged elderly figure was not only enveloped by this terrifying aura of death but also entirely devoid of any trace of life.
If this weren’t Array Peak, if it wasn’t known in advance that the figure was the old Peak Master, Ye Xiaofan might have firmly believed it was a dead person.
"Sustaining a flicker of life for over a thousand years, the ans must be unbearably painful and tornting, all to ensure the continuation of a legacy—is it truly worth it?" Ye Xiaofan murmured to himself.
And he answered himself, perhaps it was worth it.
Because the legacy was not only Array Peak’s but also the old Peak Master’s—not to ntion it was the lifeti essence of those world-shattering, unparalleled masters of array dao from that era.
Such a legacy, if it could be preserved, might just be worth it. Yet Ye Xiaofan questioned himself; were he to be in the old Peak Master’s position, could he forcibly extend his life for a thousand years for the sake of legacy?
Throughout these thousand years, the old Peak Master had been lonely and desolate, and the fleeting vitality did not permit much movent, potentially petrified and sealed for long periods, enduring constant tornt.
