Now reading: CHAPTER 27: WHAT THE HIDDEN CIVILIZATION HAD NO CATEGORY FOR from Primordial Sovereign Emperor System, a Action novel by Emperor Dunsin.

The seven Realm Born soldiers moved first.

Formation discipline. The specific coordinated advance of people who had trained together long enough that individual decision had been partially replaced by collective movent, each soldier's position relative to the others maintained without communication because the communication had happened years ago and was now simply mory expressed as motion.

They were very good.

Kael Sòng t two of them at the depression edge and the match that developed there was the most honest fight Kael Sòng had been in since the tournant began, his full cultivation running without managent, his Remnants technique visible at last for what it actually was, old and deep and sourced in knowledge that predated the faction's current form by a margin that would have surprised most people who thought they understood the Remnants.

Hún Yuán'er took three.

The Divine Dragon Vein fully uncovered eting Realm Born level Dynasty soldiers produced a match that the crowd would describe for years afterward. She moved through them with the complete economy of soone whose bloodline had been built for exactly this kind of combat, the royal line of the strongest beast clan before the Shattering carrying in her movent the specific authority of sothing that had earned its position over millennia rather than claiming it.

Míng Xīn took two.

He took them the way he had taken Rèn Wú.

Completely.

The Realm Born soldiers were better than Rèn Wú. Better trained. More experienced. Carrying cultivation levels that placed them well above the standard tournant field. They hit with the weight of Dynasty formation technique and they adjusted with the discipline of people who did not panic when the first approach failed and they pressed with the organized urgency of soldiers who understood that a vanguard's purpose was to hold position until support arrived.

He went through them in four minutes.

Not quickly. Cleanly. The specific quality of a match where one participant was exceptional and the other participant was not in the sa category and the category difference was not cruelty but simply fact. He used Soul Sovereign Peak in Hollow Energy for the first soldier and Realm Born Early in Cosmic Cultivation for the second and the two systems running in his body simultaneously produced sothing in the quality of his movent that the soldiers could not account for in their adjustnts because adjusting to one system did not account for the other and adjusting to both simultaneously was not a capability their training had prepared them for because nobody had needed to prepare for it before.

Both soldiers were at the boundary in four minutes.

He was already looking at the commander.

The Heaven Breaker Mid commander had not moved during the engagent of his seven Realm Born soldiers. He stood at the center of the vanguard formation in his void-black armor with his cultivation pressure radiating outward in the specific way cultivation pressure radiated from soone who had been at Heaven Breaker Mid long enough for it to have beco their natural resting state rather than an effort. He was looking at Míng Xīn.

He had been looking at Míng Xīn since the two Realm Born soldiers went to the boundary.

He was recalculating.

Míng Xīn could see the recalculation happening. The specific quality of a tactically experienced person encountering data that did not fit the model they had arrived with and updating the model in real ti with the discipline of soone who had survived long enough to understand that the model was always subordinate to the data.

The commander looked at the classification instrunts.

[ PARTICIPANT: TIĀN MÍNG XĪN ]

[ Hollow Energy Cultivation: Soul Sovereign — Peak Stage ]

[ Cosmic Cultivation: Realm Born — Early Stage ]

[ Combined State: UNCLASSIFIED ]

[ Classification Attempt: FAILED ]

He looked back at Míng Xīn.

"Soul Sovereign Peak," he said. His voice carried the quality of soone who had commanded formations for long enough that volu was no longer a tool he needed. "And Realm Born Early."

"Yes," Míng Xīn said.

"The instrunts cannot classify the combined state."

"No."

The commander was quiet for one second.

"You are sixteen years old," he said.

"Yes."

He breathed once. Not uncertainty. The specific breath of a tactically experienced person who had completed the recalculation and arrived at a conclusion they had not anticipated and were now deciding what to do with it.

Then he stepped forward.

The Heaven Breaker Mid cultivation pressure arrived before he did. Not as an attack. As presence. The specific weight of two full cultivation tiers above Míng Xīn's highest registered level pressing outward into the arena air with the quality of sothing that had been built over decades and was now being made fully present.

The crowd went silent.

Not the question-silence of the classification instrunts. The specific silence of thousands of people who were watching a sixteen year old face a Heaven Breaker Mid commander and had collectively stopped breathing because what they were about to see was outside the frawork they had brought to a tournant expecting to watch young cultivators compete.

Hún Yuán'er had finished with her three soldiers. She was at the edge of his peripheral vision, bloodied at the forearm, Divine Dragon eyes tracking the commander with the specific quality of soone who was making a calculation about whether to close the distance and had not yet completed it.

He felt her waiting.

He did not look at her.

"Solo," he said, quietly enough that it was for her rather than anyone else.

A pause.

She stayed where she was.

He crossed the distance between himself and the commander and the match began.

It was not like the matches before it.

The Realm Born soldiers had been the highest level he had faced in the tournant and he had gone through them cleanly. The commander was two tiers above his highest registered level and the difference between those two tiers was not a number. It was the specific qualitative difference between a candle and a fire, between managed cultivation and the kind of cultivation that had been running at full weight for long enough to have restructured everything around it.

The commander hit him on the second exchange and he moved with it and the movent cost him. Not catastrophically. But honestly. He felt the impact of Heaven Breaker Mid technique on his cultivation pathways in a way that Realm Born technique had not produced, the specific sensation of encountering sothing above your ceiling and finding the ceiling.

He did not step back.

This was the thing the hidden civilization had no category for.

Not his cultivation levels. Not the dual system access. Not the failed classification readings. Those things were extraordinary but they were quantifiable. What the hidden civilization had no category for was the specific quality of what happened when Míng Xīn found his ceiling and put his back against it and pushed.

He carried Huang's humanity.

Not Huang's power. Not Huang's precision. His humanity. The one thing his original life had tried to strip away and never fully succeeded in removing. The thing the entity had chosen him for above everything else. And humanity, in the space between a sixteen year old body and a Heaven Breaker Mid commander, produced sothing that cultivation hierarchies did not have a tier for.

He did not dominate the commander.

He held him.

Exchange by exchange. Minute by minute. The Tiān Emperor Vein running at full accumulation and the Hollow Soul Lineage responding to the field and the two of them pressing together in the space below the Sovereign Void state with the combined weight of everything he was and the combined weight eting Heaven Breaker Mid technique and not yielding.

The crowd had no sound for this.

They watched in the specific silence of people who had run out of fraworks entirely.

The commander pressed harder on the fourth minute.

He held.

The commander pressed harder on the sixth minute.

He held.

On the eighth minute the commander stepped back.

Not a retreat. The specific movent of a tactically experienced person who had been pressing for eight minutes against sothing that had not moved and was revising their approach with the discipline of soone who survived by updating their model rather than repeating what the model said should have worked.

They looked at each other across the arena floor.

"Eight minutes," the commander said.

Míng Xīn said nothing.

"Heaven Breaker Mid against Soul Sovereign Peak." A pause. "You did not yield."

"No," Míng Xīn said.

The commander looked at him with the specific quality of a person who had completed a final recalculation and arrived at a conclusion that had no tactical response available to it.

"What are you," he said.

The Tiān Emperor Vein answered before Míng Xīn did.

It had been accumulating since the entry threshold. Since before that. Since age seven in the healing chamber. Since the Void Crawler incident. Since the clan tree. Since the first night he pressed his hands against bark and felt sothing vast acknowledge him from below. It had been building for nine years with the patient certainty of a tide that knew exactly where the shore was and had been moving toward it at the pace the shore required.

It released.

Not the Sovereign Void state. Sothing beneath the Sovereign Void state. Sothing that was not a combined state or a temporary activation but simply the Tiān Emperor Vein running at the full honest weight of Soul Sovereign Peak without managent or concealnt or any of the nine years of careful restraint that had shaped every match and every training session and every assembly since he was old enough to understand that the mont mattered as much as the capability.

The arena light changed.

Not the field's reading-mode luminescence. Not the sharp urgency light of the breach. Sothing older. The specific quality of light that very old stone produced when sothing in its imdiate presence resonated with whatever had been pressing into it for longer than the civilization above it had existed.

The Grand Hollow Arena floor glowed.

All of it. Every section. The compressed hollow stone that had been old enough to have its own faint luminescence since before the tournant began responding to what was standing on it and producing sothing that the thousands of watching people would later describe in different words that all ant the sa thing.

Sothing waking up.

The commander stood in it and looked at Míng Xīn standing at the center of it and his cultivation pressure, which had been radiating outward in the way cultivation pressure radiated from soone who had been at Heaven Breaker Mid long enough for it to be their natural resting state, did sothing it had not done in a very long ti.

It pulled back.

Not strategically. Involuntarily. The specific response of a cultivation that had encountered sothing in its environnt that it recognized as being in a different category from itself and was organizing accordingly.

[ PRIMORDIAL SOVEREIGN EMPEROR SYSTEM ]

[ DUAL CULTIVATION RESONANCE — ACTIVE ]

[ Hollow Energy: Soul Sovereign Peak — Full Release ]

[ Cosmic Cultivation: Realm Born Early — Full Release ]

[ Combined Pressure Output: Calculating... ]

[ Calculating... ]

[ Output exceeds current classification paraters ]

[ Note: The arena floor rembers. It has been waiting for soone to give it permission to rember. ]

[ You gave it permission. ]

[ Well done. ]

The four Heaven Breaker Early soldiers at the edge of the vanguard formation had stopped moving.

The commander had not moved since his cultivation pressure pulled back.

In the stands, thousands of people sat in the specific silence of a frawork that had ended and a new one that had not yet been nad.

Hún Yuán'er stood at the edge of his peripheral vision with her Divine Dragon eyes and the gold undertone that was warm the way firelight was warm and she was looking at him the way she had looked at him in the corridor and in the arena and across every match and exchange since Round 1 except that this ti there was no recalibration happening because she had run out of things to recalibrate to and was simply looking with the full honest weight of soone who had found what they were looking for and was taking the ti to see it clearly.

He looked at the commander.

"What am I," he said.

He let the arena floor answer for him.

Above, in the observation platform, in the section reserved for Eternal Courts senior council mbers, Elder Councillor Fang stood with his hands at his sides and watched what he had spent four years building arrive at its intended mont and produce nothing that he had intended.

His tiline had been designed to destroy the Eternal Courts leadership in the chaos of a Dynasty breach. To demonstrate that the people who had sent his children to die could not protect the civilization they claid to rule. To watch the arena full of their proudest families understand that the safety they had been sold was a product rather than a promise.

He had not accounted for the boy.

He had been watching the boy for nine years and he had not accounted for him.

The arena floor was glowing and the Dynasty commander's cultivation had pulled back involuntarily and the boy was standing at the center of it with his dual classification failures and his humanity that looked like weakness until it was too late to revise the assessnt, and Elder Fang stood in the observation platform where he had been standing for two days and felt the four years he had spent building this mont transform into sothing he did not have a na for that was not grief exactly and was not regret exactly and lived in the territory where those two things t the specific weight of a man who had made a choice weeping and spent four years discovering that the weeping had been the most honest part.

He looked at his hands.

Then he looked at the arena floor.

Then he did the last thing anyone in the observation platform expected Elder Councillor Fang to do.

He walked to the security officials at the platform entrance and he said, in the even careful voice of forty years of political experience being used for the last ti in the way it had been trained:

"Seal the platform. I need to speak with the Grand Leader."
