“Aiya! I’ve finally caught you!”
By the sound of it, Ji Chi got that the one who had caught him was none other than the woman he was hiding from.
“L-Let me g-go!”
Feeling the strength of the cold hands tightly gripping his neck, he instinctively struggled.
No matter how hard he struggled, though, he could not escape from her clutch.
“Let you go? He he he! Stop dreaming; I’ve finally caught you after a hard time!”
With that being said, Qiao Jingyun threw him on the floor.
The boy was filled with so much fear from the woman’s actions that he closed his eyes.
The tiled floor without a carpet looked hard; the boy was sure that he would injure himself by falling on it!
Strangely, though, he did not feel any of the expected pain once he did.
Instead, something soft, which smelled sweet, cushioned his fall.
He opened his eyes a peep, just in time to hear a moan.
Opening his eyes, he saw Qu Jingwan’s face, which was already contorted because of the pain.
The boy felt exceptionally strange as he looked at this familiar face.
He had never expected this lady, whom he treated as an enemy, to sacrifice herself just to save him!
“You—”
For a moment, he did not know how to address her. That was because he had never properly talked to her in the past.
He was interrupted by the latter before he could speak further.
“Hey, are you alright?”
The first thought that came to this rich missy’s mind was not her injury but to check if the lad on top of her was fine.
She inspected the boy from head to toe before sighing in relief and letting him go.
“Thank god you’re alright…”
He felt more plex inside when he heard her grateful whisper.
No matter how mature he was, he was merely a child.
A child who lacked love at that.
As long as someone treated him slightly better, he would not be stingy with his feelings.
“Thank you, Auntie Jingwan.”
He thanked her in this rare instant, and the way he addressed her became intimate.
The rich missy’s eyes lit up immediately at the little guy’s words, but before that closeness between them lasted, a cold woman’s voice interrupted.
“Alright. You two finally reconciling just when you’re about to die is just icing to the cake!”
Qiao Jingyun shot the pair a glance and scoffed, yet in the next instant, a dark and plicated glint flashed across her eyes.
He he he! It seems that she’ll succeed this time!

Somewhere in the dark room seemed to be leaking as there was a constant, rhythmic sound of water dripping.
Listening to the sound of the water dripping, the boy all of a sudden felt that he was too tired and needed sleep.
Just as he was about to fall asleep with the rhythmic sound of water dripping, the voice of the person whom he was anticipating the most rang in his ears.
“Ping An! Ping An…”
The anxious yet gentle voice kept sounding, and it made the child wake up again.
