With a smile, Huo Mian walked over to Sun Xiaoxiao. The latter lowered her head out of fear and guilt, and she didn’t have the courage to look Huo Mian in the eyes.
"Mrs. Sun, how’s your body doing? Are you still taking medication?"
"I’m fine now. Thank you for your concern, Young Madam." Sun Xiaoxiao was now mumbling her words; she was much less confident than when she was gossiping.
Bella glared at her out of slight satisfaction.
"Okay, that’s good then. Myocardial infarctions are no laughing matter. You need to take care of yourself."
"I got it, Young Madam."
"Bella, let’s go. We’ll talk in your office."
"Okay."
After Huo Mian and Bella left, the entire finance department breathed a sigh of relief...
"Do you guys think Young Madam heard our conversation?" a female employee asked frantically.
"Who knows. Young Madam is such an unpredictable person. Although I’ve never seen her get mad, she’s still very scary."
"Anyways, I’ve learned my lesson this time. We shouldn’t talk about them anymore. Whether they get a divorce or not, it’s none of our business. We should stay focused on our jobs." Sun Xiaoxiao was properly frightened. She was always afraid that Huo Mian would cause her trouble. After all, she was the one who had set up the dinner that allowed Qin Chu to get closer to Zhang Manlin. She had always felt guilty about it.
- At Bella’s Office -
"President Huo, you should’ve told me you were ing."
"I decided to e here on impulse."
"I’ll get you a cup of tea." Bella got up.
"Don’t get up. Sit. I just came from... I had too much tea. I’m not thirsty."
"Then you’re here because...?" Bella didn’t know why Huo Mian had e. Was she checking up on President Qin or...
"I just wanted to visit you. You always seem to hold back in your Wechat messages and I was really busy at the hospital so I couldn’t explain anything to you. I have time today, so..."
"President Huo, actually...?"
"Call me Mian. I’m no longer President Huo." Huo Mian laughed.
Bella smiled. "Mian, Zhixin has talked to you about it before, right?"
"You mean about my husband and Zhang Manlin?" Huo Mian asked.
Bella nodded.
"Continue..." Huo Mian knew how detailed a person Bella was so she really valued the latter’s opinions and choices.
"President Qin’s very suspicious these days..."
"What do you mean?"
"Many things. For example, he pushes off important work and leaves before it’s time to get off work. So, I was thinking... that maybe it has something to do with Zhang Manlin. Plus, President Qin has never looked at a female colleague more than necessary no matter how beautiful the person... but he acts a little differently towards Zhang Manlin." Bella expressed her concerns in one breath.
"Oh, I see." Huo Mian nodded as if she was deep in thought.
"There’s something else that I’ve wondered about."
"What is it?" Huo Mian listened to Bella carefully.
"Assistant Yang is still resting from his accident."
"I know." Huo Mian nodded. Yang’s been a great employee to GK. After he entered the hospital, Qin Chu and Huo Mian visited him many times, both at the hospital and at home.
"Assistant Yang’s actually pretty much recovered. He even asked to e back to work but President Qin didn’t allow it." Bella looked unhappy.
"What do Assistant Yang’s whereabouts have anything to do with this?" Huo Mian was confused.
"I was just thinking... could it be that maybe President Qin wants Zhang Manlin to take over Assistant Yang’s place?" Bella looked worried.
