Pursuing Her Best Friend after Confession Failed Chapter 374 163: Water Magic Research, New Bookmark Sale Eve
Li Yuan naturally wouldn't agree to Bai Weixi's request to go to the live signing event, but he couldn't outright refuse either. He had to find a suitable reason.
"Bai, your aunt and uncle are going back to their hotown tomorrow. Aren't you going to see them off?"
Bai Weixi pursed her lips and chuckled lightly. "No need. They can just drive the car you bought back ho."
"Hehe, hubby, my dad has been driving that rcedes you bought these past few days. He's been so happy he's been praising you to the skies, saying he'd even sell his own daughter to have marry you right here and now."
Li Yuan's heart skipped a beat. What kind of aggressive talk is this? We just got together, and she's already thinking about marrying ? Marriage is the tomb of love. I'm never getting married, not in this lifeti. I could hold a secret wedding, sure, but getting a marriage license is out of the question. You can have many weddings, but you only get one marriage certificate. And I'm a law-abiding citizen, after all. Luckily, she's only in her first year of college, so there are still four years until graduation. If she goes on to grad school, then even if they push her to get married, it won't be a huge problem… he muttered to himself.
An idea struck him, and he thought of another excuse.
"Bai, since your aunt and uncle are heading back to your hotown, you should go with them and buy so more things to take back. You know, so of Modu's local specialties, clothes, shoes, that sort of thing. It's a good way to show your appreciation. It wasn't easy for them to raise you."
Bai Weixi scoffed playfully and rolled her eyes at Li Yuan. "You don't have to tell that. I already bought everything while you were away on your business trip."
"Hehe, and I used your bank card, hubby."
Li Yuan hadn't actually noticed the transaction alerts on his phone. The bank card he had given Bai Weixi had a monthly limit of 50,000 yuan, which was more than enough as long as she wasn't buying luxury goods. Plus, he could cancel it at any ti.
Li Yuan smiled, too lazy to co up with another excuse. If she finds out, so be it. One more person knowing won't make a difference. I don't really care.
The main problem was Jiang Zhiyu. It would be difficult to explain things to her, and Little Fish was coming back from Beijing tonight.
"Hubby, Zixia said she's in Modu now too. Where are you two staying? I'd like to go et her."
Bai Weixi looked at Li Yuan expectantly. She had already introduced him to her parents, so as his future daughter-in-law, she felt she should also et his family.
For so reason, a vague worry always lingered in her mind. The Li Yuan of the past would have certainly told her that his sister had also transferred to a school in Modu. But ever since that confession in the park after the college entrance exams, Li Yuan was no longer the one to bring things up. She was the one who initiated most of their chats and ssages.
For the past couple of nights, she had been chatting frequently with Li Zixia, trying to build a closer relationship.
Li Yuan had known for two days that Li Zixia and Bai Weixi were chatting, and apparently, their conversations were quite lively. Although, what could a college student and a high schooler possibly have to talk about so enthusiastically? Isn't there a generation gap? I had assud that silly little sister of mine would have already told Bai Weixi everything, like her address and school. I was actually surprised to find she had kept her lips sealed. Now, Xia Zhijin is often staying at Jinxiu Villas to keep Li Zixia company. If Bai Weixi went over there… the scene of those two girls eting… I can't even imagine it. My sweet, treasured girl would probably be completely heartbroken.
"Li Zixia is living at Jinxiu Villas, which isn't far from Erald Mansion. I'll take you to see her when I have so free ti," Li Yuan replied calmly as an idea began to form in his mind.
"Actually, I'll take you to et Zixia tomorrow."
Bai Weixi's heart leaped with joy. Hugging his arm, she nodded eagerly. "Really? That's great! I haven't t Zixia yet. She must be adorable, right?"
Li Yuan smiled. "You'll know when you et her."
Bai Weixi glanced at Li Yuan, a little shyly. "Hehe, hubby, when are your parents coming back?"
Li Yuan feigned ignorance, asking in return, "I don't know. Why?"
Holding his arm, Bai Weixi replied coyly, "I was just wondering. I'm worried your parents won't like ."
"By the way, hubby, what are your parents' hobbies? What do they like to eat?"
Li Yuan chuckled. "Hobbies? Does making money count as a hobby?"
Bai Weixi faltered for a mont, then rolled her eyes at him bashfully. "Hmph. Hubby, you're so good at making money, your parents can just sit back and enjoy life."
"My family used to be really poor," Li Yuan began. "My parents ran a small business up in the Northeast, and it was tough making money." As he spoke, he suddenly rembered how, in his past life, he had taken all the money his parents had worked so hard for and squandered it trying to act like a rich heir—all while being Bai Weixi's lapdog. His interest in the conversation vanished instantly. "Forget it, let's not talk about this."
"My parents like hardworking people, especially soone who knows how to cook. You should try to learn when you have ti," Li Yuan said with a smile, knowing full well that Bai Weixi couldn't cook. As an only child, she had been thoroughly spoiled by her parents, Bai Tianqi and his wife.
Hearing that Li Yuan's parents liked hardworking girls who could cook, Bai Weixi's cheeks flushed. Cooking was sothing she had never done in her life.
"Okay, hubby. I may not have known how to cook before, but I promise I'll work hard to learn so that your parents will like ."
Li Yuan patted Bai Weixi's head and gave her a noncommittal smile.
If Bai Weixi is really willing to learn how to cook for my sake, that wouldn't be so bad. I've made my investnt, so she needs to make one too. The ideal scenario would be to train her into a perfectly obedient, virtuous wife and mother. If she could give a pair of twins in the future... well, that would make rekindling our fated connection worthwhile.
