"Yuan, you’re a god! I want to have your babies!"

"That stock you ntioned really surged."

"Get lost. Do you even have the right parts for that?" Li Yuan chided good-naturedly. "How much did it go up today?"

"It went up another 15% today, for a net profit of 6,000 yuan," Xu Zhi replied, overjoyed.

"Dazhi, didn’t you say you only had 10,000 yuan of your private savings? How did you earn so much?" Li Yuan asked, puzzled.

"Well, Yuan," Xu Zhi explained sheepishly, "I, uh, ca up with all sorts of excuses to get more money from my family. Then I borrowed so from friends and scraped together a bit more. I put it all into that stock."

Li Yuan was slightly shocked. Xu Zhi is pretty bold, huh? He went all in just based on my word?

"Dazhi, how did you convince your parents? And you’ve got so serious nerve. Aren’t you afraid of losing it all?"

"UHH... it’s too embarrassing. I’m not telling you," Xu Zhi stamred, finding it hard to speak.

"As for losing money? How could I not trust you, Yuan? Even if I really lost it, worst-case scenario, I’d just cling to your leg and cry. I refuse to believe you’d stand by and watch die."

Li Yuan was speechless, but his opinion of Xu Zhi rose a few notches. That kind of audacity wasn’t sothing an ordinary university student possessed.

He couldn’t help but recall his previous life. He had already failed to make it in Modu, yet Xu Zhi had managed to stay. Xu Zhi had even bought an apartnt at the absolute peak of the city’s housing prices...

Still, Li Yuan was incredibly curious. What kind of excuse could Xu Zhi have used to get his parents to suddenly cough up ten or twenty thousand yuan? Too embarrassing? Could it be...? Li Yuan’s eyes lit up as he thought of sothing a lot of n would do.

"Oh right, Yuan," Xu Zhi added cautiously, "I also told the handso guy about this. After he heard, he invested 10,000 yuan too. You’re not mad, are you?"

Li Yuan’s brow furrowed for a mont before relaxing. "Dazhi," he reminded him, "next ti sothing like this happens, tell beforehand. The stock market is extrely risky. If things go wrong, you could lose everything and be ruined. You absolutely must not get addicted. Just aim for a small profit and get out."

If it weren’t for their friendship that spanned two lifetis, Li Yuan really wouldn’t have been willing to take this risk and guide Xu Zhi into the stock market.

A few tens of thousands of yuan wasn’t a big deal to him now, but for new university students like Xu Zhi and Wang Shuai, it was an astronomical sum—several years’ worth of living expenses.

"Yes, yes, Yuan, I understand! Don’t worry, I’ll definitely listen to you. I’ll buy whatever you tell to buy and sell whenever you tell to sell."

Xu Zhi’s tone was one of complete deference. Though his grades weren’t great, he wasn’t stupid and had a hundred percent faith in Li Yuan’s abilities.

This was such a rare chance to get rich. If he didn’t seize it, he might as well just go and bang his head against a wall.

"By the way, Yuan, I’ve already talked my parents into it. They’ve pulled together 400,000 yuan for to make a down paynt on a three-bedroom apartnt in Modu. Do you have any good locations to recomnd?"

Li Yuan was taken aback. He was even more curious now about how Xu Zhi had convinced his parents. While Xu Zhi’s family was reasonably well-off, coming up with 400,000 yuan for a house in 2008 required imnse nerve. It wasn’t sothing most people would have the courage or foresight to do.

Li Yuan thought for a mont before offering a suggestion. "If you’re buying a house in Modu, nothing else matters as much as this: it has to be in a good school district. The potential for future appreciation is massive, whether you use it yourself or decide to sell it."

Xu Zhi now had complete faith in Li Yuan and nodded quickly. "Okay, Yuan, I’ll listen to you. My parents are coming to Modu in a couple of days. Should we all have dinner together?"

"They’re also really curious about you, the legendary figure."

Li Yuan shook his head, at a loss for words. "We’ll see. I’ve been a bit busy lately, running around like crazy every day."

Xu Zhi snickered. "HEH HEH, I get it, Yuan. Gotta keep a few of your ladies happy, right?"
