I look at the pictures on my phone.

For the past three days, Elliot has been going to the Han mansion. On the first day, he arrived in the afternoon and didn’t leave until the following morning.

I scroll through the images. Elliot at the gate, smiling at the guard. Elliot in the garden, walking beside her. Elliot at the fountain, sitting too close, leaning in, looking up at Daphne Han like she hung the moon.

My jaw tightens.

He’s been ignoring my texts. My calls. The ssages I sent asking if he was alright, if he needed anything, if he wanted to co by the clinic. Read receipts. No responses.

Even the nurses have retreated, leaving the room quiet, dim, empty.

As expected, I’m the only one on his side.

I sit beside Elliot’s bed, watching his face. His beautiful face. Bruised now, swollen, the left eye purpled and closed. His lip is split. There’s a bandage wrapped around his forehead, hiding the worst of it.

I didn’t want to do this to you.

I reach out, touch his hand. His fingers are cold. I wrap my hand around them, trying to warm him.

"I’m here." I squeeze his hand. "I’ve got you. No one’s going to hurt you."

He tries to smile, winces. "Knew... you’d co."

I hold his hand tighter.
