The Grand Plaza Hotel shimred with elegance.

Crystal chandeliers bathed the ballroom in golden light, and the orchestra’s strings wove a delicate lody through the air. The Liang family’s engagent party for their only daughter was nothing short of regal—an event attended by elites from all corners of society.

Politicians, CEOs, dia moguls, and celebrities gathered under one roof, toasting to a future union poised to dominate both business and politics.

Jiang Wei stood among them, dressed in a custom-tailored navy suit, the picture of success.

He smiled, shook hands, exchanged pleasantries, but his jaw remained tight.

Mr. and Mrs. Jiang mingled effortlessly, laughing with their soon-to-be in-laws and basking in the reflected prestige of their grandson’s engagent.

Everything was perfect.

Except for the fact that they were here.

Han Li and Jiang Yuxi—uninvited but unmistakable—drifted through the ballroom like twin shadows.

Jiang Yuxi made no effort to speak to her adoptive parents, not even a glance. Jiang Wei burned with fury at their presence but kept it buried beneath a diplomatic smile.

It was a public event. He couldn’t afford a scene.

But he didn’t have to like it.

As the announcent for the toast approached, Jiang Wei excused himself. He’d spotted his fiancée, Liang Ruo, heading toward the restrooms monts ago. He adjusted his cufflinks and made his way across the marble floor, steps confident.

But he wasn’t the only one who noticed.

Han Li’s eyes flicked toward the restroom corridor. Jiang Yuxi caught the glance and nodded. Without a word, they followed.

They weren’t subtle.

Jiang Wei didn’t notice. But they saw everything—the subtle movents in the hallway, Lin yu slipping discreetly into the restroom, Liang Ruo following after with a hint of urgency.

Inside one of the stalls, Liang Ruo had Lin yu pressed against the wall, her lips hot against hers, her hand sliding dangerously lower. Lin yu gasped softly into her mouth, eyes fluttering shut.

The door creaked.

Outside, Han Li’s voice rang out, mockingly loud and sharp with amusent.

"What’s the rush? We ca to offer our congratulations."

Jiang Wei froze.

His expression turned stormy the mont he saw them—Han Li, arms folded, Jiang Yuxi clinging lightly to her like a lover in love.

The sa smirk danced on Han Li’s lips, always knowing, always daring.

"What are you doing here?" he snapped, barely holding back.

"I already said it, didn’t I? We ca to celebrate," Jiang Yuxi said sweetly, snuggling closer to Han Li’s arm.

"Still clinging to delusions, I see," he hissed.

Han Li laughed low in her throat, brushing a speck off her shoulder with exaggerated poise.

"A little insensitive, Mr Jiang. My love for my girlfriend is not any less the one you have for your fiancee’, so might even say more because atleast she’s the only one In my heart." Han Li says with a wicked smirk.

Then, turning toward Jiang Yuxi with theatrical flair, she offered her arm.

"Co, my love. My lack of male anatomy invalidates my emotions in this establishnt."

Jiang Wei’s hand twitched at his side, but he didn’t move. Couldn’t.

He could only watch as they turned and walked away—swaggering like they owned the room.

And just as the stall door creaked open and footsteps echoed softly, Liang Ruo erged.

Her hair had been hastily tied up in a ponytail, her lipstick slightly smudged, but in that shimring lavender gown, she still looked devastatingly beautiful.

Jiang Wei straightened instinctively.

"Ruo, let’s go—"

She slapped his hand away before it even reached her.

"What is wrong with you?" she hissed through clenched teeth, voice dangerously low.

"What?" he blinked, caught off guard.

"I overheard your conversation with CEO Han," she said.

"Oh yeah? Can you believe how shaless they are? Two won—"

The slap didn’t co. But the sharp intake of breath that followed was worse.

"CEO Han is a respected friend and my business partner. She’s one of the reasons I made it this far in the industry. She believed in when no one else did." Her eyes burned into his, wild with betrayal.

"I invited them. And you—you humiliated ."

"I—"

"And what if they’re together? Everyone already knows. It’s not a scandal—it’s a fact. You think mocking them makes you bold? No. It makes you small. What happens when we’re eting international clients who are just like them? Are you going to offend them too?"

Jiang Wei looked stricken.

Liang Ruo leaned in close, her voice like ice beneath silk.

"We’re just engaged, Jiang Wei. Not married. If you make regret this, I will call it off."

He paled instantly, the blood draining from his face.

"I’m sorry, I—"

"Later," she snapped, cutting him off.

She turned and strode back into the ballroom with her head high, the room practically parting in her wake.

Jiang Wei followed quickly, heart pounding, sweat at the nape of his neck.

Above it all, Han Li watched from the sidelines, a glass of champagne poised delicately between her fingers.

Her eyes followed the chaos she had helped stir, the way a conductor might enjoy the crescendo of an orchestra gone rogue.

Her expression? Amused—unbothered and utterly entertained.

Jiang Yuxi leaned in close, her lips brushing against Han Li’s ear as she murmured, "I’m still wondering how Jessica managed to pull this off."

Han Li didn’t look away from the crowd, where Lin yu had just erged, her gown slightly wrinkled, her lipstick smudged at the corner of her mouth.

Han Li’s smirk widened.

"Honestly, I thought it would be a one-ti thing. A reckless tryst. Get the footage, whisper the right things to Jiang Wei, plant a little seed of doubt—"

She tilted her glass, watching the champagne swirl.

"But a full-blown affair?" She turned toward Jiang Yuxi, voice low with wicked glee.

"Didn’t see that coming."

Jiang Yuxi snickered, stifling her laughter behind her hand.

"It’s so ssy. Not even the best screenwriters could co up with this level of chaos. Jessica’s either a genius or completely unhinged."

"Probably both," Han Li said lightly.

"That’s what makes her effective."

Lin yu, now composed, rejoined the glittering crowd as if nothing had happened.

"Co on," Han Li said, draining the last of her champagne and slipping an arm around Jiang Yuxi’s waist. "Let’s go congratulate the hostess and leave."

"And then?" Jiang Yuxi asked with a grin.

Han Li leaned in, voice a velvet promise.

"Then we go ho and have a drama of our own. One where I don’t need to hide how much I want you."

Jiang Yuxi’s ears flushed, but her smile didn’t waver.
