Hu Bin watched helplessly as Ye Qiu entered the military camp while he was stopped with no ans to follow. His heart was filled with anxiety, worrying that she might encounter danger, fearing that she might be sched against by Cheng Hu, and even more afraid of her going into battle against Zaha.
Though she had once defeated Zha Bu, and although Zha Bu was only one rank below his master, Zaha, Zaha’s notorious reputation was widespread. Even her father, the once-renowned War God Ye Hui, had died at his hands.
Hu Bin knew that Ye Qiu was formidable, but he didn’t believe she would be more formidable than Zaha. To win this battle, they must make ticulous arrangents. He had been pondering over this lately, and with sumr approaching, there should no longer be harsh weather, which would be an advantage for their side.
However, at the sa ti, having gone through winter and spring, the barbarians’ grain supplies were likely depleted. For survival, their attacks would only beco more ferocious. This posed both an opportunity and a danger.
He recalled the petroleum Ye Qiu used last ti to capture a city. Once the ice and snow lted, they could lure Zaha and his army into a deep valley, and then achieve a surprising victory.
But as for how to lure them, he still needed to think it through. However, he had now been excluded by Ye Qiu, rendering all his plans useless!
"Returned empty-handed?" Tong Minmin mocked him, seeing his anxious expression.
"Invite her to the house for a talk," Hu Bin stated matter-of-factly.
Tong Minmin glared at him sharply: "Hu Bin, what do you take for? I am your wife, and you want to set you up with my cousin now?"
Hu Bin seed very irritated by her hysterical deanor and frowned, "You know, I have never loved you."
"Then why did you marry in the first place?"
Hu Bin remained silent, and Tong Minmin laughed at herself, "You’re not going to say it was because Uncle told you to marry , are you? What a ridiculous joke. You’re an ungrateful scoundrel! Don’t forget who saved you when you were holess and starving almost to death. Uncle surely never envisioned that the beast he raised and taught would covet his young daughter!"
"Shut up!" Hu Bin shouted at her.
"Exposed and embarrassed, are you? When you married , was it first so no one would know you fancied a child, and second so you could repay the kindness of the past? You’re truly disgusting! Without you, could I not have found another match? You—you ruined my life! And now you want to ruin my cousin’s life too? I won’t let you have your way, Hu Bin."
Hu Bin looked at her coldly, "I think you’ve been overly worried lately, leading to so madness. It’s just as well, I’ll get a military doctor to take a look. I’m sure Miss Ye won’t abandon you."
Hearing this, Tong Minmin backed away step by step, looking at him with fear.
Hu Bin held a dicine bottle in hand, approaching slowly, "Be obedient, take the dicine. Unless you no longer care about the lives of your grandfather and parents?"
"Whose life are you after?" Suddenly, a cold shout from outside interrupted. Hearing the familiar voice, Hu Bin froze in place, his face instantly turning pale.
"You’re not in the military camp?" he asked, a trace of despair in his voice.
"Didn’t Hu Junshi himself wish for to co? Here I am now. Could Hu Junshi please tell whose life you are after?" Ye Qiu’s gaze pierced him like a sword, exuding an aura of murder.
"When did you get here?" Hu Bin asked hoarsely.
"Naturally, I followed Hu Junshi back. Otherwise, how would I know that my cousin lived such a life after marrying you, being coerced into taking dicine and threatened daily? Hu Junshi, you’re quite capable!"
"Let explain, things aren’t as simple as they appear," Hu Bin said anxiously.
"Things aren’t as I saw with my own eyes? Let ask you, did you really marry my cousin sincerely? Did you threaten her with my grandfather and uncles’ lives? Did you force her to take dicine?"
Hu Bin was rendered speechless by her questions. Each question from Ye Qiu made his face grow paler. He never imagined Ye Qiu would find out about these things. It felt like having his sha exposed, with no clue how to respond.
"Hu Junshi had been hiding so well from all this ti—acting the elegant gentleman, as smooth as jade. Ha, my father was indeed mistaken about you. Did you really think I was blind?" Ye Qiu clenched her fists tightly, her gaze venomous, "You killed my father, mother, and brothers, and coerced my cousin by threatening her with the lives of our grandfather and uncles, yet you still dared to desire ?"
"You knew all this? Since when?" Hu Bin asked, casting a murderous glance at his wife, Tong Minmin. "Was it you who told her?"
"Hu Bin, you have such filthy intentions, does it scare you to have them exposed?" Tong Minmin spat at him.
"Don’t you care about your grandfather and parents’ lives?" Hu Bin threatened, looking at Ye Qiu slightly deranged, "Since you know all this, you should know I admire you, Miss Ye. Let’s marry, and after we’re wed, I’ll help you deal with Cheng Hu. Together, we can take down Zaha."
"In your dreams. I’ll deal with Cheng Hu and Zaha myself," Ye Qiu said, then turned to Tong Minmin, "Cousin, co over here."
"Stay where you are!" Hu Bin’s face was twisted as he looked at his wife, "Don’t you want to cure the poison in your body? If you’re not worried about your life, aren’t you concerned about your grandfather and parents’ poison?"
"Is this your thod?" Ye Qiu mocked him, "The poison is from Hengqing Valley, isn’t it? Otherwise, my cousin wouldn’t have compromised with you all these years."
"That’s right," Hu Bin admitted, almost defiantly, "Miss Ye, you must have heard of Hengqing Valley and know how formidable the people there are. Without the antidote, no one outside can cure those poisons."
Without waiting for Ye Qiu’s response, he slowly approached her, nearly obsessed, and continued, "Miss Ye, you don’t need to be afraid. I won’t hurt you. As long as you agree to marry , I’ll spare your cousin, your grandfather, and uncles. I’ll even invite them as honored guests for our ceremony, how about that?"
"Keep dreaming!" A voice bellowed from outside once more. Hu Bin looked up to see the enraged Old Sir Tong and a pair of middle-aged husband and wife.
"Min’er!" the woman cried out to Tong Minmin in heartbreak.
"Mother! You..." Tong Minmin couldn’t believe her eyes. She looked to Ye Qiu, realizing her cousin had only told her to temporarily appease Hu Bin while gathering evidence of his collusion with allies and barbarians to harm loyalists. She hadn’t expected her cousin to directly rescue her grandfather and parents!
"How is this possible?" Hu Bin’s lips trembled. "Impossible! How can you be here? How can you possibly co here?"
