Prince Linsan was still discussing whether to use black gunpowder, and then Shi Rui emphatically refused.
"Prince, it’s just a woman, how can such precious black gunpowder be used? Please trust , I will surely return victorious." Shi Rui said confidently.
Chen Gaoxuan nodded with satisfaction: "Then we will look forward to General Shi’s results. By then, I will personally welco you back."
Ye Lu suppressed a sneer, thinking that it would be good enough for Shi Rui to return intact this ti. Bai Xianyi was not a woman to be trifled with; in the book, she was referred to as a Female War God.
Although concealing the truth might cause Prince Linsan significant damage in this battle, it was worth it to weaken the Princess Consort’s power. Moreover, she had black gunpowder at her disposal. As long as she increased production, how could Bai Xianyi be her opponent in the future?
So Ye Lu not only wasn’t worried, she was actually quite excited. However, to others, it seed like she was prematurely celebrating for Prince Linsan, and so admired her magnanimity because if Shi Rui returned victorious, it would be the Princess Consort who gained power.
On either end of Changxin Slope, the troops of Prince Linsan and Prince Ye faced off. Shi Rui frowned deeply, looking at the opposing army’s fierce montum. He was increasingly suspicious, wondering if Prince Ye was really as formidable as he appeared. Could such a military force really be established within a year or two?
Why would such an army obey the commands of a woman? What was different about Bai Xianyi? It was only at that mont that Shi Rui realized he may have underestimated the enemy, but it was too late.
"All soldiers, listen to orders, form ranks." Bai Xianyi shouted, her sword pointing directly at Shi Rui.
The battle was imminent, and Shi Rui couldn’t escape at this late stage. He forced himself to maintain composure and focused on breaking the formation.
However, the formation before him seed like an unbreakable fortress. No matter which direction he attacked, any apparent weakness turned out to be a trap.
With bloodshot eyes, he fixed his sights on Bai Xianyi, who was directing the formation, and led a squad of soldiers deep into enemy territory. He thought that as long as he killed the commander, all challenges would be resolved. After all, Bai Xianyi was rely a woman; could he really be outmatched by a woman?
Shi Rui once again made the mistake of arrogance. The worst flaw in warfare is conceit, and he erred repeatedly. In this battle, he was certain to lose.
Bai Xianyi looked at him with a mocking and disdainful gaze. Today’s battle was her chance to make her na, so Shi Rui was bound to die.
When news of the battle reached back, Prince Linsan and all his subordinates couldn’t believe that the invincible Shi Rui lost like this, and that he was beheaded by a woman, directly causing Prince Linsan to lose an important border town. It was indeed a disastrous defeat.
She was just a woman! How did Shi Rui lose so miserably? Was Shi Rui too incompetent, or was Bai Xianyi too formidable?
It was only at that mont that they realized Prince Ye and Ye Qiu weren’t joking about fighting wars. Although Bai Xianyi was a woman, she was adept at military strategy and extrely skilled in martial arts.
Just as Bai Xianyi had thought before, she made her na. After the battle at Changxin Slope, everyone in the world knew her na.
In the capital, inside the General Mansion, a woman paced back and forth: "Bai Xianyi, Bai Xianyi? It’s her, it must be her, my lord. She definitely fled from the wedding there, joined Prince Ye, and went to the battlefield. Doesn’t she have any decorum as a woman?"
Li Jian, General Li, also frowned deeply: "Enough, isn’t this all your doing? When I was not at ho, you arranged a marriage for her to soone else? Cao Li is older than ."
"But Mr. Cao now has power and influence. Even the Empress Dowager and the Little Emperor trust him greatly. My lord, you keep failing to suppress the rebels, and many are already dissatisfied with you. If I didn’t do this, would the whole family have to suffer because of your failures? Think about our son; he’s only eight!" Li Jian’s second wife said defiantly.
Li Jian’s face darkened: "Then you should have waited for to return before discussing it."
"Everything I did was for the good of the family, but my lord, your eldest daughter didn’t consider our safety at all. She ran away, joined a rebel, and went to battle. If Mr. Cao and the Empress Dowager find out, how can we stay safe? If Prince Ye attacks the capital, will you stand in opposition to your own daughter? We consider her, but has she considered us?"
"Enough, I don’t want to hear anymore." Li Jian said impatiently, "My daughter’s na was Li Xianyi, not Bai Xianyi. Li Xianyi is already dead, so don’t spout nonsense like this outside anymore."
Li Family’s wife smiled slightly: "I will follow my lord’s instructions."
Li Jian returned to his study and sighed deeply. In this current state, he didn’t know if he regretted teaching his daughter martial arts and military strategy. How wonderful it would be if she were a son!
Bai Xianyi’s victory in this battle had both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage was that everyone acknowledged her strength, but the disadvantage was also this acknowledgnt. When other forces start to fear her, it wouldn’t be as easy to win victories as before. However, Ye Qiu was not afraid.
He continued to govern the territory he had already conquered at his own pace. His jurisdiction was entirely different from the outside world, where wails filled the air and refugees were everywhere, with no sign of hope in their eyes.
But in the area he governed, the industry thrived, people were hopeful, and more eager to produce, with everyone proud to join the Ye Family Army.
From mouth to mouth, more and more people flocked to Ye Qiu’s domain, and those who had not yet beco part of his territory even took the initiative to open doors for him. Those residents beca his spies, picking up weapons to help him attack their own city gates.
This is where the people’s hearts lie, and all the Vassal Kings were shocked by how he achieved this, but simultaneously had more fears. However, now everyone fears Prince Donghe the most.
As everyone had previously thought, the court’s army was full of cowardly people. Even Prince Donghe’s re tens of thousands of troops easily crushed them and expanded his territory day by day, coming within a few hundred li of the capital, directly pointing at the Imperial City.
Ye Lu recalled the storyline. In the book, it was Prince Donghe who was the first Vassal King to enter the capital claiming to clear the advisors but soon beca a puppet for soone else after a few days as Regent King.
Then chaos ensued, and eventually, Prince Linsan ascended the throne unexpectedly.
The plot had progressed faster than described in the book, but Ye Lu was pleased because everything was developing as written, so the final outco wouldn’t be wrong. Prince Linsan was always the male protagonist, and any ntion of Ye Qiu and Prince Ye was just a fleeting mont.
Now Shi Rui was dead, the Princess Consort had lost power, and the Empress position was within her grasp, wasn’t it?
