Five days later, Zhen Fang packed her luggage, ready to start work at the county hospital.

Liu Baozhu and Liu Fuchai ca running to grab her luggage, refusing to let her leave. Zhen Fang, being pregnant, couldn’t win against the siblings, so she had to leave her luggage and go.

Liu Baozhu and Liu Fuchai thought that as long as they held onto Zhen Fang’s luggage, she would have to co back. Now that their elder brother was dead, they, being lazy and greedy, knew they couldn’t support themselves, so they could only cling to their sister-in-law.

However, shortly after, Zhen Fang brought two officers in peaked caps, pointing at Liu Baozhu and Liu Fuchai, saying, "Officers, it’s this shaless pair that stole my luggage."

As a result, Liu Baozhu and Liu Fuchai were arrested.

A day later, the police investigated the matter between Zhen Fang and the Liu siblings, determining it to be a family dispute, and released the siblings.

In the countryside, even if you haven’t committed a cri, spending a night in jail can completely ruin your reputation.

The villagers kept their distance from them.

Only Er Laizi would often bring things to the Liu Family to find Liu Baozhu and even bring her an egg to eat while she was at work.

Liu Baozhu hadn’t learned her lesson from the last incident and seed quite reckless, accepting whoever ca her way.

So, after the double harvest, rumors spread among the villagers that Liu Baozhu and Er Laizi were seeing each other. Er Laizi even boasted that he’d host a wedding banquet after the early grain was distributed.

Liu Baozhu didn’t explain a word about it.

Yunqiao Team plants two seasons of rice each year—early and late crops. After the early crop is harvested, the production team would turn over a small portion to the grain bureau and distribute the majority to the villagers based on work points.

Yuan Chun could earn full work points every day, and even though she took a month’s leave this year, she still received over 150 pounds of rice.

Liu Baozhu and Liu Fuchai, on the other hand, were in a bad situation.

Back when Yuan Chun emptied out the Liu Family’s grain, the siblings had nothing to eat and had to borrow ten pounds of rice and thirty pounds of sweet potatoes from the production team. Even together, they didn’t have many work points. After paying back the ten-pound rice debt, they only received ten pounds of rice.

Liu Fuchai looked at the half-bag of rice with a dark expression as he walked out of the production team.

Liu Baozhu cried, "Fuchai, it’s three and a half months until the late crop is harvested. How are we supposed to manage until the autumn harvest with this little rice?"

Liu Fuchai glared at her, "What’s the point of crying now? You were slacking off during work, and now you’re scared of going hungry because the grain is distributed in small portions. Why weren’t you afraid of hunger when you were loafing around?"

Liu Baozhu: "You’re lecturing , but you slack off just the sa. Boys your age in the village earn eight work points a day, but you only earn four. And you have the nerve to talk about ?"

Liu Fuchai: "My four work points are still better than your two."

Liu Baozhu: "Yet I wash your clothes and cook your als. Why don’t you ntion that? I also work on the private plot. What do you do, co ho and act like a lord?"

"Those are won’s duties. You expect a man to do them?"

"What’s wrong with a man doing it? When our elder brother was alive, he still had to cook, wash, and clean at ho. Why can’t you do it?"

"I just won’t do it."

"You... fine, don’t do it then. See what happens when there’s no one to serve you. I bet you won’t do it yourself."

...

The siblings argued all the way ho.

Following them was Yuan Chun, who curled her lips into a cold smile.

Good, very good, she had finally waited for the right mont.

The next morning, a series of loud quarrels erupted, prompting many villagers to skip breakfast and rush over to watch the commotion.

As it turned out, Liu Baozhu had gone to Er Laizi’s house last night and climbed into his bed.
