To control him took considerable effort and cost the lives of several sailors. Now, he is also the most unstable, so every night when the rmaid’s power is strongest, the male protagonist is kept in solitary confinent.

This also provided an opportunity for the male and female protagonists to be alone together.

At this point, Ren Yan should have just recently co into contact with the rmaid male protagonist and has not yet fully gained the rmaid’s trust.

Jiang Lai glanced at the rmaids baring their teeth at him. Although they look sowhat like humans, their nature is more like that of wild beasts in the ocean, with almost no ethics or sympathy. In their eyes, humans are also just food, albeit smarter and equipped with stronger weapons.

"Put this one down."

Ren Yan was tense at heart. She looked over suddenly, relieved that Jiang Lai was not researching the rmaid she liked, but another younger male rmaid kept at the very edge.

The hinge slowly dragged the tank down from the section where the cage and glass cover opened. A giant chanical arm held the tank suspended in the air, then gradually extended and placed it on the research table. An anesthetic automatically injected through a port, and soon the aggressive rmaid inside cald down.

The interns were both excited and terrified. This ferocious creature before them was their research subject for the future. Although they had a thorough understanding of rmaid anatomy in theory, seeing a live rmaid still left them in awe of its wonder and beauty.

That strong and powerful tail could, with force, crack open the deck directly. The fin spines along its dorsal fin could easily cut through hardened steel plates from below, making the ship rapidly take on water.

The more you know, the more you fear.

Jiang Lai was also curious about these beings, as indeed there were many aspects worth researching on them. After observing from a distance, he went up to take a closer look. Through a layer of specialized glass, he watched the rmaid inside, with his gaze slowly moving from its face to its tail.

"Director, this is a juvenile male rmaid. According to your research report, we conducted a detailed investigation on him. Here are the results for your review."

Jiang Lai glanced down, noting that every detail from personality to appearance, aggression, and all aspects from head to tail were ticulously recorded in this report.

rmaid code, Z7, has the lowest danger index among these rmaids.

The anesthetic had taken effect, but the rmaid inside was still struggling violently. Its tail struck the fiberglass with loud "bang, bang, bang" sounds. Jiang Lai was unfazed by its threats, approaching, bending over to look down at the rmaid inside.

A head of long black hair, similar in appearance to human hair but capable of strangling an adult man in water effortlessly.

Looking at the rmaid’s face, porcelain white with a hint of shiny gold dust-like substance. This is the rmaid’s natural scent gland. Different rmaids have different scents in the ocean depths, allowing the rmaid Clan to communicate and recognize each other over distances of tens of kiloters via scent and sound.

Suddenly, Jiang Lai realized his habit of observing rmaids was purely anatomical. From head to tail, from fin to tail, in the original host’s eyes, the rmaid was nothing more than a live specin of combat, devoid of any emotion. Even his occasional admiration and amazent stemd entirely from the rmaid’s mystery and power.

However, Jiang Lai took another look at the rmaid’s face and found the Little rmaid especially beautiful—not like other male rmaids with angular features, but with a palm-sized, delicate, perfect face. Its pair of azure eyes bore hatred, yet they still shone like a pair of brilliant blue sapphires.

Even its snarling expression was beautiful. Although the teeth were sowhat terrifying, it did not detract from the overall beauty Jiang Lai observed.

His gaze continued downward, to the part above the chest, arms shimring with scale-like light, visible only due to the reflection of light while they swam in water. To the touch, they were slippery and icy cold.

From the lower abdon downward, there was a tail—short and stout on top, soft and flexible at the bottom.

Approximately two ters long, mainly because the very soft dorsal fin at the end was very long. Each rmaid’s dorsal fin is different, and compared to others, since this Little rmaid hadn’t fully matured, its dorsal fin was longer and softer. Under the light, it reflected a dreamy pale blue, and the fin seed like a lively little fish constantly swimming.

This was the rmaid’s softest place and was also the only non-lethal spot.

After the observation, Jiang Lai nodded.

"Give that syringe."

Soone quickly handed over the syringe, which was as thick as an adult’s forearm, with an even more terrifying needle.

The injection chamber was opened, and the seawater inside slowly drained away. The iron chains holding the rmaid’s arms automatically lifted. As the seawater disappeared, the rmaid’s strength was reduced to its weakest. It was slowly suspended from the tank, its head lowered, and the gills behind its ears opened and closed rapidly, while its tail hung limply to the ground.

Out of water, the rmaid’s danger level significantly decreases. Juveniles with undeveloped dorsal fin Bone Spikes make ideal research subjects.

Jiang Lai stepped forward, first using the syringe to draw one hundred milliliters of blood from its shoulder.

"rmaid blood is dark green because their heart and brain are one-quarter larger than those of humans. Coupled with their massive tails, each rmaid has about eight thousand milliliters of blood. Unlike humans, who die if they lose more than two-thirds of their blood, rmaids don’t. Their strong regenerative capabilities make their blood production seventy-three tis that of humans and wound healing three hundred tis faster, making them undisputed masters of the ocean."

"If they are so formidable, would they pose a subversive threat to us humans?"

Zhou Liang asked curiously.

This was also what concerned him most. The deeper he delved into the research, the more he understood rmaids, and the more he felt humans were too fragile.

Not as smart as them, and not as strong either. If it weren’t for thousands of years of developnt that strengthened our species and weapons, humans wouldn’t stand a chance against such creatures.

Jiang Lai, while studying the rmaid’s blood at the experint station, spoke.

"It’s natural to have such concerns based on their strength. However, the rmaid’s societal system ans they can never rapidly reproduce or evolve like humans. In the rmaid world, once a male rmaid mates with a female rmaid, the female only carries that male’s offspring, with a gestation period of seven months."
