Jiang Yu looked at Jiang Lai.

"I’m okay with anything, how about you?"

"Doesn’t matter."

Seeing her arrogant deanor, Jiang Yu held back a breath, turned her horse, and drew her bow toward the prey.

Just a few lucky shots, and she really thinks she’s so formidable?

One arrow, two arrows, three arrows...

Nine arrows, all hit their marks. Jiang Yu couldn’t help but curl her lips; she was sure to win this ti since Jiang Lai was no match for her.

But to let her off so easily would be too lenient. Disregarding the Marquis Mansion’s future and fate just to flatter her own husband, she embarrassed her and now had the audacity to challenge her in archery and riding.

Since that’s the case, let’s give her a lesson, teach her to behave and recognize her place!

After shooting the last arrow, Jiang Yu aid at the wild deer beside Jiang Lai, but the arrow veered off course and hit the horse’s leg instead. The horse neighed in pain, rearing its front hooves, and at the mont it was about to fall, Jiang Lai shot out an arrow, hitting the blood-eyed wild bull not far away.

A scream rang out, and the hunting ground descended into chaos.

The Sixth Prince said in a deep voice,

"Recover the prey and rescue the person."

He flipped and leapt into the hunting ground, rushing toward the fallen Jiang Lai, but before he could reach her, a black figure outpaced him, scooped up Jiang Lai, and carried her out of the hunting ground.

The Sixth Prince was silent for a mont, then turned to the nearby fallen Jiang Yu.

Her horse, frightened by the wild bull, had thrown Jiang Yu off and stomped heavily on her foot.

Seeing Jiang Yu’s pale face fainting, the Sixth Prince picked her up and took her for dical treatnt.

On the other side, as soon as Tie Yi picked up Jiang Lai, she fainted in his arms. The scene was a bit chaotic; the Eighth Prince ran over to inquire about Jiang Lai’s condition, but was frightened by a cold glare from Tie Yi.

"General Tie, it was my fault about the previous matters with Jiang Lai. I will personally apologize after she wakes up."

"No need."

Having said that, Tie Yi carried Jiang Lai away quickly. After the Imperial Physician examined her and diagnosed it as rely a result of excessive shock, Jiang Lai soon woke up to find only Tie Yi in front of her.

"Don’t wear that gloomy face; you already look scary."

Tie Yi, seeing her awake, imdiately helped her sit up.

"How are you? Are you hurt anywhere?"

"I’m fine. I was prepared before the arrow ca, so it didn’t hurt ."

Tie Yi’s face darkened further, his black eyes cold.

He wasn’t like those princesses without combat experience; he was well aware of the intentional malicious arrows.

Although Jiang Yu aid at a target just now, she took advantage of the chaos to intentionally misfire the arrow, aiming at the horse beneath Jiang Lai. No matter where it hit, the horse would be frightened, and in such a chaotic scene, Jiang Lai was highly likely to fall and be trampled by the prey and hooves, risking her life.

She was targeting Jiang Lai’s life.

"Get so rest; I’ll get to the bottom of this for you."

"No need for explanations or anything; I avenged myself on the spot; there’s no need for explanations."

Jiang Lai liked to take revenge in her own way, just like now; she had fallen, so Jiang Yu wouldn’t have it easy either.

Tie Yi was like an angry, anxious beast, his presence overwhelming beside her. Jiang Lai sighed, reaching out to touch his face.

"You’re a bull, huh? Your breathing is so loud."

"It’s my fault for not protecting you."

Jiang Lai smiled.

"So what do you propose? How about this: you compensate by protecting yourself well, don’t let yourself die on the battlefield during my youthful days, okay?"

Tie Yi looked up, staring intently at Jiang Lai. He hesitated, his throat seemingly blocked, and his heart, calm for over twenty years, throbbed intensely at this mont.

He had never felt so fortunate not to have died on the battlefield.

"I swear, I, Tie Yi, will never die on the battlefield. Just one last battle, and I promise to resign."

Jiang Lai nodded, leaning into Tie Yi’s embrace, listening to his strong heartbeat and letting out a relaxed sigh.

Little Buding’s voice ca in her ear.

"It’s almost done; the second task is almost complete."

According to the data monitoring, Tie Yi is now completely devoted to Jiang Lai, a love wholly deserved.

The original host’s regrets have been mostly resolved, with just one remaining.

"What do you plan to do about your and Jiang Yu’s lineage?"

"What’s the hurry? We’ll talk when the Marquis Mansion is completely finished."

"Tsk tsk, you have a really ruthless heart."

Jiang Lai closed her eyes, contently enjoying Tie Yi’s broad embrace, responding lazily.

"The people of the Marquis Mansion enjoyed the wealth and honor obtained at the cost of the original host’s sacrifice without any guilt. Since that’s the case, let them also experience the difficulty of going from luxury to frugality."

Screw the biological father and mother, they’re nothing good; Jiang Lai wasn’t interested in pursuing familial affection, indiscriminately detesting them.

After a nap, it was already dark outside.

Tie Yi had left at so point, and outside the room, Chun Yue, who was guarding, quickly ca in to attend to Jiang Lai upon seeing her wake up.

"Madam, this servant heard... your sister, Miss Jiang, her foot seems to have been crippled..."

Chun Yue spoke cautiously; seeing Jiang Lai’s expressionless face, she felt relieved enough to continue.

"The best Imperial Physician from the Imperial Hospital ca, saying that even if treated, she would still be a cripple in the future. Now the people from the Marquis Mansion have arrived, crying in that room."

Jiang Lai had good ears; she had already heard the sobbing from that direction, notably Madam Zhao’s distinct lant, heart-wrenching like mourning, unmatched by anyone else present in her level of sorrow.

"Earlier, Madam Zhao from the Marquis Mansion ca to see you but was stopped outside by the General. You wouldn’t have seen it, but the General outright told them you were resting and no one was allowed to disturb you, or else swords and knives wouldn’t show rcy.

The General truly favors you."

No face given to anyone, none could disturb Jiang Lai’s rest.

"Anything to eat? I’m hungry."

"The General had it prepared long ago; I’ll have it brought up imdiately."

Tie Yi’s arrangent was thorough, the dishes exquisite yet light, perfectly suited to Jiang Lai’s taste.

Leisurely finishing her al, there was more commotion outside again, this ti Madam Zhao’s voice.

"That’s my daughter; what’s wrong with going in to see her?! Your General is my son-in-law, isn’t he? Who dares to stop ! Jiang Lai! Jiang Lai, you’re not even seeing your own mother!

If not for your sister, you wouldn’t have the good fortune to marry the General of the Country!"

Madam Zhao was clearly agitated, disregarding everything, shouting like a madwoman outside.

Chun Yue looked at Jiang Lai.

"Should I report to the General again?"

"No need, bring a chair to the door, I’m going out."

With that, Chun Yue brought a chair and went out with Jiang Lai.

Seeing Jiang Lai co out, Madam Zhao rushed forward to hit her, but was blocked by the guards on both sides, unable to touch even a hair on Jiang Lai.

"Jiang Lai! How cruel-hearted you are! You even harm your sister; are you even human!!"
