The new deskmate looked like an ant on a hot pan, flustered as she stared at question nine.

"Oh no, I’m dood! I can’t do question nine..."

Too busy with the arts festival, she completely forgot to check the papers in advance. Watching as the students in front stood up one by one, her deskmate was desperate and grabbed Jiang Lai’s sleeve.

"Do... do you know how to do question nine?"

Jiang Lai glanced at it, then took out a pen and drew an auxiliary line on her paper, followed by writing down a formula.

As soon as she saw the auxiliary line and formula, her mind imdiately beca clear and open.

The new deskmate kept praying that no one in front would get stuck. Fortunately, she was lucky. Everyone proceeded smoothly.

When it was her turn, she stood up, went to the platform, drew the figure and the auxiliary line, then listed the formula for inference and transformation, and worked out the answer.

The horoom teacher looked at her with a stern gaze.

"Your thought process is quite clear now. Why can’t you do this in the exam?"

The new deskmate walked down as if granted an amnesty, her back slightly cold with sweat, looking at Jiang Lai like she was witnessing an ancestral spirit, full of reverence and gratitude.

Originally, with the first column finished, it was supposed to move to the first one in the second column, but the horoom teacher directly pointed at Jiang Lai.

"You continue, this ti we’ll go from back to front in order."

With these words, all the students in this column imdiately beca tense again.

The new deskmate looked at Jiang Lai nervously.

"This is the final choice question. You can directly say you don’t know it; the teacher will explain it at the end."

The difficulty of the monthly exam paper was already high. Basically, the last multiple-choice and fill-in-the-blank questions were ant to differentiate the scores.

Moreover, the amount of calculation for this question was about the sa as the last big problem. It involved drawing and deriving with seven or eight formulas. Most people just skipped such a question, planning to correct it later when they got the paper back, but even then, listening to the top class students’ explanations didn’t ensure understanding.

Now Jiang Lai needed to explain it to the whole class, and everyone turned their heads to look.

It’s okay not to know this kind of question, and even reading from the model answer didn’t an you could explain it clearly, let alone Jiang Lai coming from the art class; everyone had low expectations.

The teacher looked at her, glanced at the question again, and was about to let her skip directly to the next fill-in-the-blank question when Jiang Lai stood up, took the paper, and slowly walked to the platform.

The whole class: "..."

Picking up the chalk, Jiang Lai started from the middle of the blackboard, first drawing, then calculating step by step.

Below, the two best-performing girls in the class whispered.

"Not many people in the whole grade managed to solve this question. So people don’t even understand how they ca to the solution, and many steps just don’t make sense."

The other, impatiently, said.

"Why is the teacher wasting ti in class? He could’ve explained it himself. Why waste everyone’s ti to hear soone recite the reference answer?"

After all, the reference answer was very brief, hard to understand even when looking at it.

"Maybe she had asked soone in the key class for the solution. Let’s listen anyway; the teacher will explain it again in the end."

"Only a few in the key class can solve this question. I have already asked them, and they all used the sa thod. To explain it thoroughly would take at least an entire period; she’s probably using Qiao Chuweng’s thod, and it will waste a lot of ti."

The horoom teacher stood with arms crossed and legs apart, watching from the side. The whole class was curious about this new student, especially the boys, who were already wide-eyed the mont Jiang Lai walked into the classroom.

In this science class, where girls were extrely scarce, suddenly having such a fair-skinned, beautiful campus celebrity who recently shone brightly on stage — which boy could resist sneaking a peek?

Now she was right on the platform, back to everyone, her long and slender neck under the ponytail, her arm raised high, fair and slender, skillfully listing formulas on the blackboard with chalk. Her voice during the occasional explanations was crisp and pleasant.

The classroom was silent.

Only the sound of chalk on the blackboard could be heard.

It was expected that she would take up the whole board, but from start to finish, she only occupied one-fifth of the space, and the answer to the question ca out.

Simple, clear, and concise, with every formula used specifically highlighted, the handwriting was pleasing to the eye, neat, and clean.

Every formula was from the textbook, but each thod of transformation was unimaginable to many.

"Whoa, it can be done like this?!"

A sudden exclamation ca from below, but it didn’t feel abrupt, as it echoed everyone’s thoughts.

From start to finish, it took less than eight minutes.

This even included a more detailed explanation of the transformation process; if Jiang Lai did it herself, she probably wouldn’t need three minutes.

The horoom teacher looked at her solution, nodded, and led the applause.

"Not bad, very impressive! Better than my thod. Everyone, take a close look and learn how to quickly find ideas and entry points for this type of question!"

Jiang Lai smiled, calm and composed.

"I did similar problems before."

"You’ve done similar to this type of problem, then you must have practiced a lot."

"Studying math, without talent, you can only rely on a sea of problems. Thank you, teacher, for the complint."

After saying that, she returned to her desk, and her classmates on all sides looked at her with envy and admiration in their eyes.

The new deskmate was already too excited to sit still.

God bless, how could such an amazing math whiz be assigned to sit with her!

The exercise continued, but many had already lost their focus on the problems.

Before the class ended, the horoom teacher knocked on the blackboard heavily.

"So boys, control your hormones, and when you’re emanating charm, think carefully if the girl would even be interested in you!

Jiang Lai, co to my office after class."

As soon as Jiang Lai left, the whole class of boys erupted into discussion.

"I swear I liked her when she was dancing!"

"I noticed her earlier! When she was running the 1500 ters!"

"What are you thinking after drinking? Don’t you know why she transferred to our class from the art class? Don’t interfere with her studies."

The few girls in the class were also discussing.

Although it’s a science class, the two best-performing students are still girls, and they were still discussing the tenth question just now,

"I feel Qiao Chuweng’s thod is better. Solving problems isn’t about showing off; using competition formulas, what’s the point?"

Another girl whispered.

"Qiao Chuweng’s thod also uses lots of competition formulas, though. I didn’t realize Jiang Lai’s math was this good."

"Even though she’s good, she only scored just over 120. Why haven’t we seen her get full marks?"

One of the girls fell silent.

Sensing an inexplicable hostility from the other, she sighed helplessly.
