Quick Transmigration: The Mad Beauty Refuses to Be the Scapegoat! Chapter 92 - 3: The Laid-back Princess Refuses to Be Cannon
"Husband!"
A clear and crisp voice caught Murong Dun’s attention as he noticed the woman jogging over from afar.
Her dress swayed, her slim waist was like a willow, and as she moved, the simple jewels on her head clinked lodiously. Accompanying that sound was an exceptionally charming fair face.
Murong Dun was stunned for a mont, looking at the woman before him, clearly not expecting Jiang Lai to look like this.
He had seen her once before when they went boating, but had only caught a glimpse of her back.
"Husband, you worked hard last night. Would you like so porridge? I’ve had the kitchen prepare so for you. Let’s have breakfast together."
Murong Dun, upon hearing about last night, frowned in confusion.
"Last night?"
"Yes, didn’t you have to handle official duties suddenly last night? Are you tired? Have sothing to eat first!"
And so, Murong Dun was dragged into the room in a muddle, seated at the table, with a bowl of porridge in hand.
In front of him, Jiang Lai kept serving him food, her actions mixed with a little caution. Her gaze never left him, her bright and beautiful almond-shaped eyes filled with joy.
Murong Dun felt sowhat unnatural being stared at, and his tone was stiff.
"Eat if you’re eating, why do you keep staring at ?"
"Because you’re handso, husband. I missed looking at you last night, so I’m making up for it today."
As she spoke, Jiang Lai served him another dish, her eyes filled with laughter.
Throughout the al, Murong Dun didn’t know how many tis he scolded Jiang Lai, but no matter what he said, it was futile. She would only lower her eyes in montary disappointnt, then continue to sneak peeks at him.
"Husband, do you have to handle official duties again tonight? Do you need to accompany you?"
"No need, official duties are busy lately. You just need to handle the household affairs."
After finishing the al, Murong Dun got up to leave, but Jiang Lai stopped him from behind, asking innocently.
"Since you’re my husband, you have to tell where you’re going."
Murong Dun felt imdiate displeasure, the little shift in opinion he had towards Jiang Lai evaporating, leaving only impatience as he looked at her.
"Do I need to report my actions to you? Don’t forget your status!"
With that, he pulled his sleeve from her grasp and turned to leave.
"What are you doing? n like soft approaches, especially that dog of a man, Murong Dun, who cares a lot about appearances."
Jiang Lai clapped her hands, raised her eyebrows, and smiled.
"If you’re too soft, he won’t treat you like a person. Who cares? He will co back."
As Jiang Lai expected, the next morning, Murong Dun did return.
Though still wearing an indifferent expression, he had breakfast with Jiang Lai and comnted before leaving.
"As a princess, having only one maid is too modest. I’ll arrange for another in a few days."
Jiang Lai, full from the al and feeling sleepy, just nodded lazily, then got up, assisted by a maid, to recline on the luxurious and opulent red beauty couch. She propped her head up with one hand, letting her dark hair cascade down her waist, wearing the jade bracelet given by the old madam on one wrist. She picked a grape and placed it between her red lips, gently squeezing the juice out.
This scene, languid and charming, was like a painting.
Seeing this, Murong Dun, despite thinking of soone else, couldn’t help but have his throat move up and down as he watched her unawares, licking his own bright red lips.
Her sleepy eyes, carrying a hint of allure, lazily yawned, her jade hand placed near her mouth, her voice low and soft.
"Prince, you kept waiting again for you all night last night. If you stay out another night, I’ll be cross. It’s all your fault, I’ve been losing sleep lately."
"Sleep if you’re tired. Don’t wait for ."
When saying this, Murong Dun himself didn’t realize how much softer his tone had beco.
Jiang Lai, though sleepy, was very aware, looking at him with a trace of grievance in her eyes.
"Are you leaving again tonight?"
The man’s breathing grew a bit rapid, and sowhere deep down, he felt a slight urge to stay overnight.
Just then, an announcent ca from outside.
"Prince, Marquis Anping is here to see you, saying he brought sothing new and interesting for you to examine."
Murong Dun quickly regained his composure, cleared his throat, averted his gaze, and got up to leave.
"Wait."
Unexpectedly, Jiang Lai, who was just drowsy, sat up, her beautiful eyes hazy, clutching Murong Dun’s sleeve and softly speaking.
"I want to go too. I haven’t t the prince’s friends yet."
In a state of equal parts sleepiness and softness, her body unintentionally leaned over, a faint fragrance wafting over, making Murong Dun awkwardly look away.
"If you want to go, then go. Stand firm, don’t act so casually and beco a laughing stock."
"I know, husband."
"Husband" once felt utterly uncomfortable to hear at first, to the point he wanted to gag her.
Now, just a couple of days later, he’d gotten used to her sweet and delicate calls, though it still felt a bit uneasy inside.
The couple went to the front hall together, where Marquis Anping Murong Yan was already waiting, a cage covered with black cloth before him.
"Wow, so intimately in love, others can only envy such affection!"
Murong Dun frowned, ignoring him, sitting down and pointing to the cage.
"What strange and bizarre thing have you brought this ti?"
"You’ll know when you see it."
With that, he signaled a servant to lift the curtain, and the next mont, what was inside the cage was exposed in the air, its strange appearance causing the maid serving tea to let out a sharp scream.
"Monster!"
This reaction amused Murong Yan, and he laughed loudly, looking toward Jiang Lai, waiting for her reaction, only to see her yawn, then look up at the thing in the cage, expressionless, with no reaction.
Murong Dun’s reaction was even more than hers.
"What is this thing? It looks human but crawls on the ground, with sharp, pointed teeth?"
Murong Yan stood up, pointing to the cage.
"This is a human-monkey, not quite human, not quite monkey. What do you think? Isn’t it peculiar?"
"It’s indeed peculiar, but it’s just an animal."
"Animal or not, it’s sothing rare to see. When I first saw it, it reminded of you. Since I didn’t gift you anything on your wedding day, how about I give you this human-monkey as a wedding present now?"
Murong Yan laughed maniacally, clearly coming with this thing to spite and mock Murong Dun, especially since Murong Dun had no power, no influence, and often clashed with him politically.
Murong Dun kept a firm face, forcing a smile, filled with anger but having to endure it given his current position.
Just as he was about to swallow this discontent, a clear voice suddenly ca from his side.
"Did the Marquis say this animal looks like the Prince? Could it be that you’ve had too much to drink in broad daylight and got confused? The Prince is a son of Your Majesty, resembling him closely. When you say this animal looks like the Prince, are you implying that this animal resembles Your Majesty..."
