Quick Transmigration: Underdog Turns out to be Untouchable Chapter 149: Apocalypse, I Am Not the Holy Mother 55
When Lin Shuangshuang saw ng Tao, she didn’t feel anything special, but ng Tao was clearly taken aback upon seeing Lin Shuangshuang, as he hadn’t expected her to also co to the Capital Base.
ng Tao looked at Lin Shuangshuang, unsure of how to react. After all, their last parting was quite awkward, and ng Tao harbored a vague resentnt because Lin Shuangshuang had left him at school, causing him to suffer until his father’s people ca to fetch him. Ever since, ng Tao had harbored a bit of resentnt towards Lin Shuangshuang.
After being brought back to the Capital Base by his father’s people, ng Tao once thought that Lin Shuangshuang had been so inconsiderate before, refusing to follow his instructions. He figured she was likely still struggling on the road. If Lin Shuangshuang had listened to him back then, they would have already arrived at the Capital Base together, and there would be no need to struggle outside. Whenever he thought of this, ng Tao felt a dark satisfaction.
But ng Tao never expected that the Lin Shuangshuang, who he thought was still struggling to survive outside, would appear on the streets of the Capital Base, neatly dressed and looking relaxed, completely beyond his expectation.
Lin Shuangshuang was unaware of ng Tao’s thoughts. If she had known, she would have sneered, as in her previous life, she had protected ng Tao for so long, but when he left, he still abandoned her.
Facing ng Tao now, Lin Shuangshuang’s heart was calm. She didn’t even glance at ng Tao but walked past him calmly with her parents.
Yet ng Tao, seeing Lin Shuangshuang’s calm deanor, felt a surge of inexplicable anger amidst his embarrassnt. Her deanor reminded him of when they were at school — he had said so much, but Lin Shuangshuang had walked away directly, ignoring him, causing him to lose face and be laughed at by classmates for a long ti.
As Lin Shuangshuang was about to leave his sight, ng Tao wasn’t entirely sure what he was thinking but took the initiative to greet her, "Lin Shuangshuang, after being classmates for so long, how can you be so indifferent?" Even ng Tao was startled by the strong resentnt in his tone.
Lin Shuangshuang only looked confused, as she recalled that she and ng Tao weren’t particularly close. In her previous life, although she had had a crush on him and couldn’t help but pay attention to him, she never approached him. Only after the world changed did she have brief contact with ng Tao, and in this life, she had left school right after being reborn, without any real interaction with him. Yet ng Tao’s tone suggested they were very familiar with each other.
Lin Shuangshuang’s bewildered expression further stung ng Tao’s pride. Not wanting to hear anything from her that would embarrass him, he let out a cold snort. Without waiting for Lin Shuangshuang’s response, he turned and left with two supposedly close friends who had been pretending to be part of the background after seeing Lin Shuangshuang.
Lin Shuangshuang watched, bewildered, as ng Tao greeted her only to leave without waiting for her reply. She was puzzled but quickly shrugged it off. She had no intention of dwelling on an old crush she no longer liked, as she was eager to introduce her parents to her comrades and Red Jade Doumi.
Lin Shuangshuang’s teammates were very considerate. By the ti she arrived with her parents, Li Wenxuan had already prepared a table full of delicious dishes. Doumi obediently sat at the door, slightly tilting its head, putting on its cutest pose to welco Lin Shuangshuang and its future owners.
One had to admit, although Doumi had mutated to a fearso size, cats inherently have an advantage: as long as they pose cutely, no matter how big the cat, it can lt hearts. Like Lin Shuangshuang, Wei Min and Lin Hai, who were defenseless against cats, were instantly chard by Doumi and adored it imnsely.
With both sides intending to get along well, plus Zhang Ling, a skilled socialite, present at the dinner table, after the al, Wei Min and Lin Hai had already bonded warmly with Lin Shuangshuang’s companions, chatting intimately.
After the al and eting everyone, the most daunting challenge remained: eting Red Jade and its babies. Though ntally prepared, standing before the massive spider, whose half-leg was taller than them, Wei Min and Lin Hai’s legs still went weak involuntarily.
Fortunately, Red Jade dropped its aloof deanor and ignored others, greeting Wei Min and Lin Hai through consciousness. Although they had already experienced this unique way of communicating with animals through Doumi, Red Jade’s ability to communicate reduced much of their fear.
After eting Red Jade, they also looked at its babies. To avoid inducing trypophobia in Wei Min and Lin Hai, Lin Shuangshuang didn’t let Red Jade bring all its children out, only allowing three or four small spiders to be introduced. After all, all of Red Jade’s children looked alike and were indistinguishable. They just needed a chance to recognize, so they wouldn’t accidentally consider them regular spiders and kill them in the future.
Lin Shuangshuang rented a place for two months because she planned to train her parents, Mi Lu’s parents, and the people brought by Zhang Yanhong and Zhang Ling. All to ensure everyone had the survival skills they needed when venturing outside to avoid becoming easy prey for insects.
Mi Lu and her parents returned later, arriving on the second day.
With everyone gathered, Lin Shuangshuang imdiately started training. She planned to begin with physical training within the base to improve everyone’s physical fitness, and then go outside the Safe Base to practice killing insects once their physique improved.
Once training began, others managed, even Lin Shuangshuang and Mi Lu’s parents endured it, but Zhang Ling, with a mind sharper than a sieve, couldn’t manage the training at all.
Every training session felt like life or death for her; while others would catch their breath after being tired, Zhang Ling would faint directly from exhaustion, and it wasn’t acted. While others tired could recover just by eating mutated creatures’ at, for Zhang Ling, it was no more than catching her breath.
Seeing Zhang Ling’s pitiful state during each training session, initially, Lin Shuangshuang was filled with determination, thinking she must train this weakling Zhang Ling. But with Zhang Ling’s constantly near-death reactions, in the end, Lin Shuangshuang could only reluctantly give up. She was soone innately weak who couldn’t be trained.
