Yan Shuangshuang dashed over excitedly, took a closer look, and indeed, these plants were purslane. This was great stuff, not only edible but also had heat-clearing, detoxifying, and anti-inflammatory properties; ideal for those lacking vegetable intake.

Just as Yan Shuangshuang reached out excitedly to pick it, the gift package information in her mind popped up, directly throwing out a picture to tell her that although this thing looked like purslane, it was actually highly toxic and not edible!

Yan Shuangshuang’s excited expression stiffened imdiately. It looked edible but was poisonous—could anything be more disappointing?

She carefully examined her surroundings and indeed, it was exactly like purslane, yet it was poisonous and inedible!

The plants in this world are truly strange. Even though this purslane-like thing couldn’t be eaten, it suddenly made Yan Shuangshuang realize that so common knowledge she knew from Earth couldn’t be applied in this world. Because those pieces of knowledge might be completely wrong here, utterly opposite to the correct answers.

If it weren’t for this gift package helping to identify the plant as poisonous, she would have relied on her Earthly knowledge and taken it back as food for everyone. It would have been fine if everyone cautiously tested for poison first, but if they trusted her and ate it directly, she would be utterly sinful.

Yan Shuangshuang lingered for a while. Leader Ben and her father Tieh ca over, looking at the large patch of poisonous purslane in front of her. Ben asked, sowhat puzzled, "Shuangshuang, what are you looking at? Is this stuff edible?"

Yan Shuangshuang shook her head and sighed with so disappointnt, "No, this stuff is not edible, it’s highly toxic!"

Ben and Tie continued to look at Yan Shuangshuang curiously, likely wondering why she was standing there if there wasn’t anything edible. The two of them had no idea that Yan Shuangshuang had just been hit hard and was now feeling dejected.

But after being dejected for a short while, Yan Shuangshuang quickly perked up. She ca out to find food, not to daze off here.

Just when Yan Shuangshuang thought she was empty-handed this ti, gaining nothing at all, intending to leave, the gift package in her mind beeped, alerting her that edible plants were ahead.

Yan Shuangshuang halted her steps, surprised that the gift package had this feature, alerting her of nearby edible plants. She didn’t have to comb through the vast information in her mind to compare whether seen plants were poisonous or not!

Yan Shuangshuang excitedly turned around toward the direction where the gift package indicated edible plants, then saw a cluster of large vines covered in thorns, with gray, shriveled, baby head-sized, stone-like fruits.

Yan Shuangshuang blinked, realizing that besides this large cluster of vines with shriveled, stone-like fruits, there were no other plants around.

Yan Shuangshuang stubbornly continued examining her surroundings and estimated that this vine area was quite large, having nothing besides the poisonous purslane in front of the vines that seed edible.

Yan Shuangshuang looked around, finally, her puzzled gaze fell on the stone-like fruit. Could it be that the edible thing was indeed the ugly stone-like fruit?

Yet the information in her mind assured her that there were edible plants here. Yan Shuangshuang hesitantly reached out and picked one of the gray shriveled fruits, then a picture imdiately flashed through her mind.

Yan Shuangshuang carefully examined the picture in her mind and realized it featured this ugly fruit, with the introduction saying it was edible and could enhance strength and physical fitness.

Apart from that, there was nothing else in the information—no na introduction, no taste description. The only thing she knew was that this stone-like fruit was not only edible but also beneficial to health.

"Shuangshuang, why are you picking this fruit? It’s not poisonous, but it’s terribly hard to eat, practically inedible as food."

Tieh watched as his daughter, who was about to leave, suddenly turned back, stared at the unpleasant fruit for a long ti, then picked one down. His face was full of disdain, evidently, Tieh had tried eating this thing during hunger, and the result was not ideal.

Yan Shuangshuang held the fruit, clueless about how to eat it—fried, boiled, stead, roasted, raw or cooked? Then Tieh ntioned it’s hard to eat, making Yan Shuangshuang pause for a mont. Hard to eat, huh? She suddenly rembered that sotis things that are hard to eat aren’t necessarily bad, like various seasonings, which can’t be eaten on their own but are essential for making delicious dishes.

Thinking this, Yan Shuangshuang opened up the gray fruit to try it herself. Surprisingly, though its skin seed thin, it was indeed tough; Yan Shuangshuang had to tug several tis to peel it off.

Inside was a beautiful light green hard fruit pulp, only it was a bit too hard, feeling like touching a stone, yet the pulp was also quite brittle. She casually pinched off a piece with two fingers, rub it and it would turn into powder.

Yan Shuangshuang brought the pulp to her nose to sniff it carefully; it had a light, fresh fragrance, quite pleasant.

Since Father Tieh just said it wasn’t poisonous, only hard to eat, Yan Shuangshuang boldly took a bite directly. As Tieh had told her earlier that it was hard to eat, Yan Shuangshuang cautiously took only a small bite.

Upon biting it, Yan Shuangshuang realized it was salty! She miscalculated entirely, not expecting it to be salty!

Even though Yan Shuangshuang only took a small bite, it was as if she bit directly into a salt block, instantly overwhelming her mouth with saliva, reddening her eyes, and she spat it all out wildly!

Tieh handed a water-filled fruit shell to Ning Shuangshuang while laughing with schadenfreude, "Haha, you with your curious nature! I already told you it tastes bad, and you still tried a bite, how’s that, uncomfortable?"

Yan Shuangshuang, overwheld by the saltiness, couldn’t care about her father’s teasing; she removed the dry grass plug from the fruit shell’s opening and guzzled down the water frantically. After downing a shell full of water, she finally diluted the deathly salty taste in her mouth.

Though Yan Shuangshuang drank water in ti, diluting the salty taste from her mouth, she still felt her tongue was as if brined, her entire oral cavity was numb and desensitized, almost losing feeling.
