In fact, Shuangshuang guessed correctly. Du Haokun has indeed been quite free recently, which allowed him the ti to indulge his curiosity by openly following Shuangshuang around. Naturally, Du Haokun was also very puzzled.

Because Shuangshuang overturned his perceptions. Du Haokun married Shuangshuang because he was pressured by his parents and had no choice. Previously, Du Haokun’s impression of Shuangshuang was just that she was a traditional lady, virtuous and gentle, much like his mother Fang ijuan.

After being with Shuangshuang, Du Haokun deliberately neglected her, but Shuangshuang unexpectedly didn’t cause any fuss or jealousy and seed to live quite well on her own.

Although Du Haokun was surprised by this, he only thought that Shuangshuang was truly a virtuous woman, adhering to the rules of not being jealous and regarding her husband as a god, making her even more uninteresting.

He discovered Shuangshuang was different from what he had imagined due to the incident with Liu Feifei. Through this event, he realized that Shuangshuang was not virtuous but simply didn’t care about him.

For instance, she never cared about how he perceived her and blatantly displayed her annoying side in front of him. She casually took a concubine without any concern and never liked to be close to him, nor did she take the initiative to approach him.

Later, Shuangshuang did get close to him, but every ti she deliberately provoked him to the point of fury, and she was particularly quick to bring up divorce, taking it so seriously that Du Haokun felt Shuangshuang was anticipating their divorce.

What shook Du Haokun the most was that Shuangshuang even went to the church to volunteer as a doctor and possessed remarkable dical skills. This confird for Du Haokun that though his wife wore the guise of a traditional woman, she was actually doing unconventional things.

Even more astonishing, his wife was doing things traditional won shouldn’t be doing, yet she managed to skillfully win over his parents, who only admired traditional won, earning their unwarranted affection for Shuangshuang.

This was impressive, indicating that his wife had a knack for interpersonal relationships and understanding the human heart, manipulating her behavior accordingly in front of him.

As for the reason, Du Haokun could only think of one thing: just as he didn’t like this wife, Shuangshuang similarly didn’t like him as a husband and even harbored feelings of resistance and disgust.

She used such ans to push him away, so he would voluntarily stay away from her, thus achieving the free and undisturbed life she desired.

Upon reaching this conclusion, Du Haokun’s emotions were truly complicated. He was angry, embarrassed at being seen through and manipulated, yet more so, he had so indescribable feelings and an extrely childish notion of wanting to be closer because she didn’t want him to.

That’s why Du Haokun brought a group of people to the café, brazenly watching Shuangshuang, deliberately making his presence known to make Shuangshuang uncomfortable.

Unfortunately for Du Haokun, Shuangshuang let him down. Initially, she was a bit uncomfortable under Du Haokun’s gaze, but once she started the free clinic, she had no ti to think about him or his gaze.

The overwhelming workload left Shuangshuang no room to be distracted by other matters. All her thoughts were focused on the patients, seeing one after another, prescribing dicine, keeping her utterly occupied.

Initially, Du Haokun just watched, but gradually, his brows furrowed as he noticed Shuangshuang was continuously busy with patients without drinking water. Even past lunchti, she hadn’t eaten.

Du Haokun kept watching, confirming that it was only in the afternoon when Shuangshuang hurriedly ate a cold green dumpling before continuing with the patients. When the free clinic ended in the evening, Shuangshuang hadn’t eaten anything else.

Today was busy. If Shuangshuang didn’t have Inner Strength to support her, she would’ve been weak by now. Though she managed to hold on, the hunger was undeniable.

Fortunately, people at the church helped make porridge, soft and soothing for an empty stomach. Shuangshuang had so porridge with Father Allen before leaving the church to head ho.

It was already getting dark. As soon as she stepped out of the church, Shuangshuang saw Du Haokun in his upright military uniform leaning against a vintage car nearby. Upon seeing her erge, Du Haokun opened the car door, gesturing for Shuangshuang to get in.

Shuangshuang walked over, got into the car, and closed her eyes, attempting to rest. She didn’t want to speak to Du Haokun today as she realized he was becoming sowhat unpredictable. Instead of staying away as he should, there was now a tendency to get close, which was not what Shuangshuang wanted.

So Shuangshuang chose to respond with coldness. A favored son of heaven like Du Haokun might be moved by soone like Tian Xueli, lively and bright, embracing new ideas and taking the initiative, but he would never be swayed by a cold woman whom he had to warm up to and please.

The journey was silent between her and Du Haokun until they reached the gate of the Du Mansion. Stopping the car, Du Haokun did not get out but gripped the steering wheel, silently contemplating for a long ti before saying, "Shuangshuang, could you stop volunteering at the clinic?"

Shuangshuang’s brows furrowed slightly, a surge of anger rising within her. Her volunteer work and dical pursuits were for her ideals, to save more lives on the impending battlefield. For this belief, no one was going to stop her.

Du Haokun’s words successfully ignited Shuangshuang’s inner fury. Although her anger surged, Shuangshuang’s voice remained calm and slightly chilly as she said, "Then Du Haokun, can you divorce ?"

Shuangshuang’s voice was unprecedentedly cold and serious. Du Haokun felt it, but just like the previous few tis, for so inexplicable reason, he didn’t want a divorce. After a mont of silence this ti, Du Haokun chose to avoid answering.

He opened the door and got out, opening Shuangshuang’s car door, acting as if nothing had happened, saying calmly, "Co on, mother should be waiting for us at the dining table. Let’s not keep her waiting."

Shuangshuang looked at Du Haokun expressionlessly. Today, she was truly annoyed as Du Haokun was slipping away from her control, making her worry if she could really leave the Du Family when Tian Xueli appeared.

Shuangshuang didn’t get out of the car, and Du Haokun stood there silently waiting for her reaction, the two of them in a wordless, silent standoff, one inside the car and the other outside.
