“None of your business.”
Shane lightly smiled and said. “Co on, is that how you’d talk to an old friend?”
Daryl took a step towards him and glared. “Shut up, you freakin left us man. You abandoned us without a word. The f*ck are you even here anyway?”
Shane lightly shook his head. “I had no choice, I had to leave or I might end up doing sothing I might regret.”
“Like freaking what?!” Daryl’s anger kept spilling over.
Shane’s mood suddenly shifted, his face beca grim. “Killing Rick.”
Daryl imdiately picked up his rifle and pointed the barrel at his face. “The f*ck you say?!”
Shane just stared at him with a dark expression on his face, like he was daring Daryl to pull the trigger.
“Whoa! Calm down baby brother!” rle imdiately got in between them and grabbed the barrel of the rifle. He moved it away from Shane’s face, afraid that Daryl might really shoot him in anger.
“He might be an as*hole like , but he saved , alright?” rle said as he pushed the rifle’s barrel away from him.
rle turned to Shane and said. “I owe you one for saving , but care to explain to us why the heck are you here?”
“I’m actually headed to prison, I want to et the rest of the group one more ti before I leave.” Shane replied.
“And you think they’re just gonna let you waltz in there like nothing happened?” Daryl spat in anger and frustration. He really wants to give his face a solid.
Shane shrugged his shoulders and said. “Rick, I’m absolutely sure he’s gonna co at in anger, but the rest? I don’t know, probably glare at in resentnt.”
“What about Michael? You think he’s just gonna ignore what you did?” Daryl asked.
“He would, it’s not like I did anything to harm them.” Shane replied, he looks confident.
rle stared at him and thought. ‘Look at this guy, weren’t you the one who led Woodbury to the Prison? You can be a little shaless too huh?’
Shane slowly turned to him and lightly smiled.
rle smirked and softly snorted in amusent. ‘So we’re even now huh?’
Shane quickly used his favor to keep his silence. Actually, he had been contemplating how to approach the prison without causing any problems, and today, he just stumbled onto that chance.
“Enough about him, do you know these people that attacked you?” Daryl asked.
“Weren’t you listening earlier? I told you they’re people from Woodbury.” rle said with so annoyance in his voice.
“Shut up.” Daryl retorted and started walking to the bodies. He looted their weapons and any other valuables on them before ignoring the two and started walking back to where he left his bike.
rle glanced at Shane for a mont before following after his brother. He already knows he can’t go back, so the only choice he has left is to go with his brother.
Shane watched them for a mont before he also followed behind them.
Several minutes later.
People from Woodbury arrived at the location where the firefight took place earlier, though it’s now infested with several walkers wandering around.
A few of them made quick work of the walkers while the rest like Shumpert inspected the bodies of their forr colleagues.
“Even with one hand, that bastard is still dangerous huh.” Shumpert remarks while looking at one of the dead bodies.
“He’s good for sure, but I don’t think he was alone. I saw three sets of footprints heading in that direction.” One of them approached and told them his findings.
“Were they the ones that got ambushed then?” Another survivor asked while looking around.
“It’s the other way around, there’s more bodies ahead and a tree that’s almost shredded in half.” replied the one who ca to report the footprints earlier.
“Take care of them and bring them back for burial.” Shumpert assigned so people to take care of the dead bodies before they moved on ahead towards the next location.
Arriving at the location of the remaining three bodies, Shumpert and the others scanned the area. When his eyes landed at the almost destroyed tree and then looking at the positions of the bodies, he frowned. “Did these fools not use their heads? They’ve put too much focus on the front instead of flanking the sides.”
The sa guy who reported this location earlier was busy examining the site before he ca to Shumpert and offered his thoughts. “Looking at the state of the bodies, I think rle must have been put in a desperate position. Those two bodies over there, they must have run out of bullets and rle took that small window to shoot them. He must have had incredible luck since he managed to shoot them at their vital areas that imdiately killed them.”
Then he walked towards the last body and continued. “Then his luck must have run out after those two, I’m guessing he only had two or three bullets remaining in his chamber. Though I’m leaning on him having three since he wouldn’t have gambled like that. So after he successfully dispatched those two, he must have also shot this guy, but in a sudden turn of events. This guy managed to dodge it, either this guy was lucky or rle’s luck had run out. If you look under that bush, you’ll see a pistol there. So I'm guessing it was the latter, his luck ran out so he threw his pistol at this guy in a desperate attempt to buy himself ti to hide. From that thrown pistol, this guy’s primary must have also run out of bullets at the sa ti as those two or just a little later. So he drew his second and was about to shoot rle when soone suddenly intervened and shot him. That would explain why the hole on his head is at the side compared to those two.”
Shumpert and the rest were looking at the guy in amazent while he’s explaining what might have likely occurred here, and when he was done, the first words that ca out of Shumpert’s mouth were.
“Who the f*ck are you?”
The guy smiled at them and introduced himself.
“I’m Simon, but my colleagues call Pat instead. I’m a detective in Atlanta P.D. Well was, since it doesn’t exist anymore, and I joined you guys two days ago.”
