That day, Elara could not focus. Her mind kept drifting away.
When she opened her door in the morning, it was Ziva standing outside with her arms crossed. "I’ve been knocking for so long. Why didn’t you answer?" she had complained.
Ziva had then looked at her more closely and frowned. "You just woke up?" Elara only nodded slowly.
Her mind was still thinking about the dream. She rarely had nightmares, and even when she did, they were never like that.
The girl in the white dress kept appearing in her mind. She wondered who she was and why she had appeared in her dream. Elara was sure she had never seen that girl before.
But sohow... the girl reminded her of sothing. Every ti she thought of her, a painful mory from her past life ca back.
The mont she had jumped into the river... and the regret she felt in the last second. Just thinking about it made the hair on the back of her neck stand on end.
Even at the restaurant, she kept making mistakes. Once she brought the wrong order to a table. Another ti she almost served the wrong custor.
After watching her for a while, one of the senior staff finally walked over. "If you’re not feeling well, you should have stayed ho," the woman said kindly.
Elara quickly apologized and said she was fine. But the truth was, her mind was far away the whole day.
When Elara returned to Voice that night, her mood had not improved. Only a few people were in the main hall, not more than ten.
When she stepped into the corridor, there was no one in sight. The lights were bright, but the hallway looked much creepy to her.
Elara walked slowly, not realizing she had been holding her breath the entire ti. It would be a lie if she said she was not afraid.
So corners of the corridor were darker than others. And she thought she saw shadows moving in those corners. But she quickly shook her head.
It was just a nightmare. There was no reason to let it affect her real life.
Still... That was easier said than done.
Just as she was about to turn into the hallway that led to her room, her steps suddenly stopped.
A figure was standing in front of her. Elara froze as she stared at him.
Mr Kain.
He was standing there patiently in the corridor as if he’d been waiting for her the entire ti.
Elara frowned slightly.
What was he doing here?

Relanie stood at the door, her hands raised hesitantly. For a long ti, she simply stood there, not moving or saying anything.
Then she knocked.
After waiting for so ti, she slowly opened the door and stepped inside. She then closed it quietly behind her.
Her eyes moved around the room before they landed on him.
He was leaning against the floor to ceiling window. His tall figure stood still against the faint lights of the city outside.
Relanie did not speak imdiately. She only stood, looking at him.
To everyone else, Adrian always looked cold, ruthless and untouchable.
But she knew sothing others did not. She knew how lonely he truly was. She knew about the guilt he had carried alone for so many years. If only he would allow her to share that burden with him.
Her heart tightened and a familiar pain spread through her chest as she looked at his distant figure.
Then another thought appeared in her mind. The conversation she had overheard from him and Harris while she was in the restroom in his office.
She still could not understand it and she kept wondering what that girl had done to him to make him care about such a thing.
Taking a slow breath, Relanie walked toward him. "Adrian," she called softly. He did not answer but she knew he had heard her.
She hesitated again. Then she gathered her courage and stepped closer to him. Slowly, she wrapped her arms around his waist.
The mont she touched him, she felt his body stiffen. "Adrian... don’t worry too much," she said softly. "She wouldn’t be happy seeing you like this—"
Before she could finish her words, Adrian had suddenly turned. His movent was abrupt as he pushed her away imdiately, his expression filled with disgust.
"Get away from ." he said coldly, breathing heavily.
Relanie lost her balance and fell butt first, onto the floor. The impact hurt and her body ached, but the pain in her chest was worse.
For the first few seconds, she simply sat there on the floor, staring at him. Adrian had already turned away again, not even sparing her a glance.
Relanie bit her lip,, trying hard to stop the tears gathering in her eyes. After a mont, she slowly stood up and straightened her dress quietly. "I’m sorry," she said softly. Then she spoke again. "I just rembered... I still have sothing to do at Voice. So I should go."
Adrian said nothing. Not even a single word. Though he had always been like this most of the ti, and she had gotten used to it. It felt quite painful for him to treat her like that now.
"Take care," she said finally. Then she turned and walked out of the room.
When she reached the floor downstairs, the housekeeper noticed her imdiately. "Miss, aren’t you staying here tonight again?" the woman asked while Relanie shook her head and forced a small smile. "I have sothing to do," she replied.
The woman looked at her fondly as she picked up her bag from the cushion. Then her expression changed to that of hesitation.
But before Relanie could reach the door, the woman suddenly called out again. "Young Miss, wait."
Relanie stopped and turned back slightly. She could not allow the woman to see her eyes clearly.
The woman walked up to her and stood in front of her. For so seconds, she never said anything. Those seconds felt very long to Relanie. Finally, the woman spoke up.
"Young Miss, I’m only telling you this because you’ve always been very kind to . I feel it is unfair for you not to know what has been happening recently."
Relanie stood quietly and listened, looking at the woman in front of her who seems nervous.
"If what I say sounds rude, please forgive . And please promise you won’t report ."
Relanie stayed silent for a mont, then she nodded slowly. Seeing this, the woman finally spoke again.
"Miss... Young Master Vale is having a secret affair."
Relanie’s face imdiately turned pale, trying to process the aning of her words.
The woman had not said it like a guess. She said it as if it was a fact.
Relanie knew Adrian very well. He was not that kind of man. He never got close to won and rarely even spoke to people. Except if it’s about business, or nothing else.
And honestly, she could not think of anyone around him who was more suitable than herself.
Seeing the disbelief on Relanie’s face, the woman quickly continued. "That lady has co here before. But that day they seed to argue. She looked very angry and said harsh things to him before leaving."
The woman lowered her voice slightly. "From what I heard in their discussions... I’m very sure there is a relationship between them."
Relanie stared at her, though not much expression was shown on her face, sothing is churning unbearably in her chest.
She had known this woman since Adrian bought the house. A she knew the woman would never lie about sothing like this.
But still... Adrian bringing a woman to this house sounded unbelievable.
The woman continued speaking.
"Recently I also heard him talking on the phone about promoting a girl to grade four at Voice... And I’m very sure it’s that sa lady. Because she’s also from Voice."
Relanie frowned slightly.
"A lady from Voice... promoted to grade four"
The woman nodded quickly. "I also heard that the girl just had a showcase recently and sothing happened there. And Young Master Vale told Mr Harris to investigate who was behind it and—"
Before she could finish speaking—
Relanie suddenly opened the door and walked out. The door shutting loudly behind her.
"Miss! Miss!" the woman called after her but Relanie did not turn back.
The woman stood there, holding her chest tightly in fear.
"It’s over," she muttered quietly, her eyes filled with regret.
