In the imperial study room, the Chancellor couldn’t hold it in anymore and cursed in front of the Monarch Emperor. They didn’t realize, did they, how agonizing it was for him? Watching people who should have been executed freely wander around right under his nose was tornting him.

“Your subject has also been searching for days, but the Late Emperor seems to have vanished into thin air. Truly, there are no leads to follow.” The general also voiced his frustration.
It wasn’t just the Chancellor putting in the effort; he, too, was searching for the man. And not only them—several State Knights were also trying to uncover the Late Emperor’s whereabouts.

Though the Monarch Emperor was also eager to locate the Late Emperor, other matters could not simply be ignored.

At these words, the Chancellor and Rong Xingye exchanged glances.
They were, of course, aware of this matter. However, no one knew the exact whereabouts of the Dark Token. The Monarch Emperor’s father left only one cryptic ssage: if the Jun Empire were to face a calamity, soone would erge with the Dark Token to quell the crisis.
“Your Majesty, are you suggesting that the Dark Token might be in the Late Emperor’s possession?” The Chancellor imdiately grasped the Monarch Emperor’s implication. Yet, the re thought of this possibility made his scalp tingle.
The Jun Empire was already plunged into chaos by the Late Emperor. Within the royal family, only the Monarch Emperor remained, while the Late Emperor still had several princes under his control.
If the Dark Token truly was in the Late Emperor’s hands, it might very well an another war for the Jun Empire.
“There’s an eighty to ninety percent chance,” the Monarch Emperor said grimly, nodding.
If the Late Emperor had nothing in his possession, where would he find the confidence to believe that even after yielding the throne, he could so easily reclaim it?
The Late Emperor’s forces had largely been absorbed under the Monarch Emperor’s control. If reinforcents were no longer available, what else could he rely on?
The only conclusion was that the Dark Token was in the Late Emperor’s hands.
If that were the case, and knowing his father’s ticulous strategies during his reign, it was entirely possible he’d secretly stashed away soldiers and supplies, poised to swiftly quell the chaos should the Jun Empire fall into disorder.
