When it cos to the Demon Heart Hall, everyone is too intimidated to even approach. No one dares to touch the High Priest Demon Heart’s bottom line.
"Exactly, Mr. Wen. If we do enter the Demon Heart Hall, we may not even make it out alive. Mr. Wen, if you want us to fetch it for you, shouldn’t you... shouldn’t you offer us so assurances?"
"Forget about money; we won’t ntion that. But dicinal pills, at the very least, you need to give us sothing, right?"
Upon hearing this, Mr. Wen frowned slightly, casting a displeased glance at the person who raised the suggestion.
However, he quickly masked his displeasure, pulling up a sowhat acceptable smile. Just as he was about to refuse, planning to say that once they retrieved the item, there would be all kinds of rewards, a voice interrupted him.
"What if we retrieve the item but then get discovered by people from Jun Lin Hall? By then, we wouldn’t even have a chance to escape. Wouldn’t that an we’d risk our lives for nothing, ending up with nothing in return?"
The leader of the group spoke.
His gaze fixed firmly on Mr. Wen, having already caught sight of his disdain earlier and even noticing the hint of refusal in his eyes just now.
No one is a fool. How could he expect them to risk their lives for him without offering a single benefit?
Besides, everyone knows now that Jun Lin Hall and Demon Heart Hall are essentially the sa entity. If they were caught taking sothing from Jun Lin Hall, how would they ever survive?
Even such a simple truth escapes him, and yet Mr. Wen still wants to use them. Truly absurd.
"This..."
Mr. Wen hesitated too.
He thought to himself, if they really managed to retrieve what the Family Head wanted but ended up unable to escape, it would all be for nothing. Wouldn’t that an all his efforts were wasted?
"Your concerns aren’t entirely unwarranted. Here’s what I’ll do—I’ll give you so dicinal pills and artifacts for you to carry with you. But rember, unless absolutely necessary, do not use them!"
As he handed over the dicinal pills and artifacts from his own possessions to the group in front of him, he issued repeated warnings.
Those items had been entrusted to him by the Family Head—the very resources he relied on to complete these tasks. If they were used carelessly, he’d have nothing left to fall back on for his future endeavors.
Even for a task the Family Head personally assigned, he wasn’t willing to take a loss.
"Got it, got it. These are our lifelines; we’d never use them casually," the leader nodded, extending his hand unceremoniously to take the dicinal pills and artifacts.
In truth, Mr. Wen was hesitant to part with them. He held the porcelain bottle tightly in his hand, but the other man’s brute strength overwheld him, forcing the bottle from his grip.
He felt a pang in his chest, his heart aching with regret. If only he could snatch it back.
Taking a deep breath, he suppressed the feelings of reluctance in his heart, closing his eyes briefly. After issuing yet another round of warnings to the group, they finally parted ways.
"Brother Yang, are we really going to..."
Once Mr. Wen left, soone raised concerns. Were they really going to oppose the Demon Heart Hall?
If they were discovered afterward, they would be utterly destroyed.
Brother Yang gestured for silence.
"Shh! Let’s talk about it once we’ve left here."
Who knew if soone might be lurking in the shadows, keeping an eye on them? Even if they needed to talk and plan their next steps, it could only be done once they were out of this place.
At the very least, they could wait until they were outside Jun Lin Hall before deciding their course of action.
