Old Lady An had a restless night and got up early to see if her grandson had returned. As soon as she ca out, she saw her grandson trying to head to his room.
"What happened to you? Why are you so disheveled? Were you bullied? Which scoundrel dared to bully you? Grandma will go settle accounts with them..."
"Grandma, keep your voice down, stop shouting."
An Que heard Old Lady An’s loud voice and quickly reminded her.
Things were already chaotic enough for him, and yet here his grandmother was, making a fuss. Was she not content until soone really hard him?
"I just slipped outside, it’s nothing. You go ahead, I’ll go change my clothes."
With that, he rushed into his room, shut the door hastily, and quickly changed out of his clothes. But that wasn’t all, he called out for Old Lady An to boil water for him, as he wanted to take a bath.
Old Lady An was soone who doted extraordinarily on her grandchildren. If it was anyone else in the family asking her to boil water, she’d definitely curse them to death, but An Que was different.
This was her precious grandson; what’s the big deal about boiling so water?
She took her grandson’s words to heart and hurried to boil water. To show her capability, she even carried the water into her grandson’s room, letting him bathe, almost offering to wash him herself.
An Que washed himself as quickly as possible, and only after changing into clean clothes did he let out a sigh of relief.
Realizing it wasn’t enough, he took his dirty clothes outside, just in ti to see Auntie i coming out of her room. He handed the clothes over to her.
"Auntie, my clothes are dirty. Could you wash them for ?"
Who would’ve thought that after uttering a single sentence, not only did Auntie i not reach out to take the clothes, but she also gave him a fierce glare.
"Don’t you have parents? Why are you asking your aunt to wash your clothes? Or do you not have hands? I don’t have ti for this, I’m busy!" With that, she prepared to leave with the wooden basin in her hands, which was filled with their second branch’s laundry, ready to be washed.
She had decided last night that starting today, matters concerning the first branch had nothing to do with them, the second branch. This scholar wasn’t part of their branch; why should she concern herself with so much?
Besides, it was uncertain if this scholar would even remain a scholar in the future. What was the point in currying favor?
"You..."
An Que was dumbfounded. Auntie i used to indulge him in every way possible.
Never mind about washing clothes, she even served him food during als. How did things turn out this way today?
"You from the second branch, what’s with that attitude? Que’er asked you to wash so clothes; is that such a grievance for you?" Old Lady An, seeing her grandson being put in a hard spot by Auntie i, imdiately started scolding.
"You fool, these are the clothes of a scholar. Allowing you to wash them is a blessing for you. Hurry up and wash them, you ignorant woman!"
"Heh heh."
Auntie i chuckled coldly, glancing sideways at Old Lady An.
"Mother, if you think this is a blessing, then it’s all yours. I’ll leave this blessing to you." With that, she really left, leaving only a bewildered An Que and a hopping-mad Old Lady An.
"Grandma, what’s wrong with Auntie?"
It took An Que a while before he asked. Auntie i used to treat him so well. Did he miss sothing overnight?
"Don’t worry about her. Grandma will wash your clothes first, then co back and deal with that lazy woman!"
