Alice Turner’s repeated refusals left Thomas Fisher sowhat displeased, and his face showed his discontent, "My place is much more comfortable than a hotel."
He glanced at her, looking visibly unhappy.
"I don’t deny that, but it’s not appropriate for to stay at your place now. Let’s wait until I’m divorced, then I can move in, okay?" Alice wasn’t one to be overly sentintal, but right now she genuinely couldn’t have any substantial dealings with him, as she was still a married woman.
Yet she couldn’t bear to see him unhappy; when he was upset, it made her feel uncomfortable.
Upon hearing Alice’s words, Thomas’s expression noticeably improved, yet he persisted in insisting she stay at his place, "There’s nothing inappropriate about it. It’s my turf, and I call the shots. Just go ahead and stay there."
At the mont, she had nowhere to live, and he couldn’t be bothered with all those details. Besides, he couldn’t care less about what others said; he did as he pleased, it was his freedom and right.
"But..."
"No buts, if you keep refusing, I’ll get angry. I’m serious about this, not joking."
Alice wanted to refuse again, but before she could get the words out, Thomas unceremoniously interrupted her.
With him speaking that way, what more could she say? She couldn’t stand seeing him angry and upset.
Alice held her ground almost all day before finally surrendering and telling Thomas, "Fine, I’ll stay. It saves money, doesn’t it?"
She didn’t want to save money this way, though; it made her feel pressured.
"That’s the way you should think."
With the woman agreeing to stay at his place, Thomas’s unhappy expression instantly disappeared, replaced with a radiant smile that spread nearly to his ears.
Seeing him looking so joyful, Alice Turner pursed her lips in dissatisfaction, hiding a worrying heart beneath her displeased exterior. She needed to be extra careful later, always vigilant against him doing anything untoward.
"Why are you looking at like that? Did I say sothing wrong?" Not hearing a response from the woman beside him for a while, Thomas instinctively turned to find her looking at him with evident displeasure.
Her looking at him was a good thing, but he wasn’t too thrilled with her staring at him like that. Why did she seem so unhappy?
Taking advantage of the man’s distraction, Alice Turner rolled her eyes at him with little patience, "You spoke correctly. I’m only looking at you because you’re good-looking, easy on the eyes."
It’s true the man was good-looking, but that wasn’t why she was watching him now; she was expressing her dissatisfaction.
"If you think I’m good-looking, then look all you want. I promise I won’t charge you a penny." Thomas could tell Alice was venting her frustrations, but he didn’t care; he only took it as her complinting him.
Upon hearing this, Alice couldn’t hold back and laughed, "How can you be so narcissistic? Wanting to charge money? I’d rather stand on the street and look at other handso guys. That way, I can see many, and they’re all different."
She said it purely to banter with him, partly to get back at him for forcing her to stay at his place earlier.
Did she seem sowhat ungrateful now? After all, he had kindly offered her shelter, and she responded by teasing him.
