Alice Turner thought it was Thomas Fisher calling again, but when she picked up the phone and looked at it, she saw it was Alexander Shaw calling instead, a flash of disappointnt flickered in her eyes.
"Is it Young Master Dalton calling again?" Lily Turner also thought it was a call from Thomas Fisher, leaning over to check the situation, but before she had the chance to look, her sister put the phone to her ear.
"Hello! Dad!"
Upon hearing Alice Turner call the person on the phone dad, Lily Turner’s first reaction was that it was Christopher Turner calling, her curiosity imdiately diminished, and she sat properly at her seat, not interfering with her sister and dad’s conversation.
Alice Turner wasn’t feeling as relaxed now; the next question Alexander Shaw asked made her feel even heavier, "I just heard from Benjamin that you two have already gone through the divorce proceedings. Is that true?"
Earlier, Alexander Shaw had instructed his secretary to check on Benjamin Shaw’s situation, and the report nearly made him faint with anger.
The secretary honestly reported the information he heard from Benjamin Shaw’s secretary to Alexander Shaw, saying the two had a heated argunt in the office, trashed the place, and subsequently left together with unpleasant expressions.
After hearing the secretary’s report, Alexander Shaw imdiately called Benjamin Shaw, who had just returned to the office with the divorce certificates, staring at them gloomily.
As soon as Alexander Shaw started speaking, he reprimanded Benjamin Shaw indiscriminately, saying he didn’t cherish Alice Turner well, saying he was letting a good life slip away, even saying he would regret it soday, and so forth.
Benjamin Shaw was already in a bad mood, and listening to Alexander Shaw’s relentless criticism, he angrily retorted, "I’ve already gone through the divorce proceedings with her, and I don’t feel any regret now."
Upon hearing Benjamin Shaw say this, Alexander Shaw was initially stunned, and after that mont of bewildernt, he furiously admonished Benjamin Shaw again, "You’re just saying whatever now; once the divorce really happens, you’ll realize."
He always thought his son was just speaking provocatively to anger him, but his son said the divorce was indeed true, so he began feeling hesitant and doubtful, calling Alice Turner to verify.
"It’s true, we just completed the divorce proceedings two hours ago." Alice Turner didn’t anticipate Benjamin Shaw would tell his family about the divorce so quickly, and it was evident Alexander Shaw was in disbelief over the phone, thinking she was lying to them.
Since he had already inford his family, there was no need for her to hide it any longer. It seed like she also needed to ntally prepare herself for the flood of calls from both families.
Knowing the two of them were divorced, both families certainly wouldn’t remain silent; they would definitely call, and visiting would be absolutely possible.
Once the divorce news was confird, Alexander Shaw beca silent over the phone for quite a while, just when Alice Turner couldn’t hold back and wanted to speak, his voice ca through, "Sorry! You’ve been wronged these past days."
After saying that, he hung up the phone.
Beep!
Alice Turner realized Alexander Shaw had disconnected the call only after hearing the beep. She took the phone away from her ear and sighed deeply at the now-dark screen.
Upon hearing Alice Turner’s sigh, Lily Turner imdiately turned her head to look at her with a worried expression, "How did Dad know you got divorced with him? Did he call Dad?"
