"What happened with Lily’s sister again?"
Upon hearing Thomas Fisher wanted to ask Lily Turner sothing, Easton Hols imdiately thought Alice Turner had gotten into so kind of trouble, given the previous mix-ups. He figured it was just his good buddy making a mountain out of a molehill again.
Thomas Fisher was deeply anxious, eager to get inside and find Lily Turner, but Easton Hols held onto him tightly, "Alice is missing."
He didn’t want to think this way, but he just couldn’t find her anywhere.
"Missing? What do you an? Couldn’t you reach her by phone?" Easton Hols didn’t believe Thomas Fisher’s words at all, firmly thinking Thomas was overreacting. He hadn’t considered it might be sothing serious.
Unable to shake off the grip on him, Thomas Fisher had to stand in place and explain the situation to his big brother: "She resigned, and her phone is off. Her parents don’t know where she is either. I ca to ask if the sister-in-law knows where she went."
He looked at his big brother, hoping he would let him go.
"Lily doesn’t know either; asking her is pointless." Easton Hols didn’t need to think it over; he was sure Lily Turner wouldn’t know, or she’d be troubled.
From Thomas Fisher’s words, Easton Hols gathered the seriousness of the situation. Before everything was clear, he didn’t want Lily to know—if she knew, she’d undoubtedly be worried and anxious too.
However, Thomas Fisher disagreed; Alice Turner and Lily Turner were so close that Lily must know about Alice’s resignation. "Big brother! Just..."
"Sister-in-law!"
Not seeing Easton Hols return for a while, Lily Turner couldn’t sit still. She left the dining room to see what was happening.
Thomas Fisher quickly spotted her approaching, like seeing a savior, and shouted loudly to her.
Hearing Thomas Fisher call her, Lily instinctively quickened her steps. Upon nearing them, she noticed Easton Hols had Thomas Fisher’s arm in his grasp, bewildered about the situation, she frowned with concern, "You guys?"
She looked down at the hand gripping Thomas Fisher, and followed it to see the owner.
"Sister-in-law! Do you know where your sister went?" Thomas Fisher didn’t have ti to consider anything else, imdiately asking.
Upon hearing this, Lily’s frown tightened even more, perplexed: "Wasn’t my sister sent by the company to the U.S. for further training? Didn’t she tell you?"
Her sister had told her about going to the U.S. for training, why wouldn’t she tell him? This shouldn’t be the case.
"Your sister was sent by the company to the U.S. for training?! How is that possible? Her colleagues said she resigned yesterday." Lily’s words puzzled Thomas Fisher even further, and his worry intensified. Regardless of which situation was true, he was certain of one thing: she deliberately wanted to hide it from him; she truly didn’t want him to know about her situation.
Last night, they were doing just fine. How could things have changed so drastically overnight? What did he do to upset her?
"Resigned?! How could that be? My sister loves that job so much." Lily shook her head vigorously, refusing to believe her sister Alice resigned. Her sister worked so hard, definitely not to quit.
Thomas Fisher sighed, "Your sister really resigned, and I can’t even contact her."
He truthfully inford Lily Turner of the current situation, hoping she could help him figure out where Alice Turner might have gone, as the sisters were always open with each other.
