"Why not?"
Her own mother repeatedly opposing her, Evelyn Taylor felt nothing but discontent and anger. She was also puzzled, not knowing what kind of spell Lily Turner had cast on her mother to make her so biased towards this girl.
Harriet White hadn’t spoken yet, but her hand was already reaching for Evelyn Taylor’s arm. "Don’t shout like that. What if you scare the child?"
She lowered her voice to express her dissatisfaction to her daughter.
"I... I wasn’t shouting!" Although Evelyn Taylor was irritated by her mother’s reproach, she still noticeably lowered her voice when she spoke.
While Harriet White and Evelyn Taylor were arguing, Lily Turner got off the bed and walked towards Alia Linton. Once she stood beside Alia, she took little An-An from her arms. "I’ll take the baby for a feed."
After speaking, she carried the baby and walked towards the sofa.
Seeing this, Alia Linton and Harriet White instantly realized that Lily Turner was displeased — displeased because of Evelyn Taylor’s recent words and actions.
"Ugh! Showing off after having such an ugly baby." Evelyn Taylor knew Lily Turner took the child away on purpose, and turned her head discontentedly, muttering in Lily’s departing direction.
Due to her dissatisfaction and anger, Evelyn didn’t intentionally lower her voice, so both Alia Linton and Harriet White, who were standing next to her, heard it.
As soon as her words left her mouth, the two of them cast disapproving looks her way, especially Alia Linton, whose face was filled with one emotion: anger.
"Evelyn! Hurry up and co ho with ."
Seeing Alia Linton’s angry expression directed at Evelyn Taylor, Harriet White knew Alia was very upset with what Evelyn had just said, probably refraining from scolding Evelyn because of her presence.
She grabbed her daughter’s wrist, pulling her outside, "Alia! We’re leaving now; I’ll visit the baby another day."
"Lily! We’re leaving."
At the door, Harriet White turned to tell Lily Turner. After that, without waiting for a response, she left with Evelyn.
Lily Turner, sitting on the sofa holding the baby, had not heard what Evelyn Taylor had just said. However, seeing Harriet White dragging Evelyn away, she thought to herself that Evelyn must have said sothing inappropriate again.
Thinking of this, she turned to look at Alia Linton standing by the bed, and seeing Alia’s angry face, she confird her suspicion.
"Mom!"
Lily Turner called out to Alia Linton, but there was no response. So she raised her voice and called out again: "Mom!"
What in the world did that woman say just now? Why did it anger her mother-in-law so much?
Hearing Lily Turner calling her, Alia Linton snapped back to reality, quickly setting aside her annoyance and replacing her angry expression with a gentle smile. "Here, is the baby wet again?"
To alleviate her inner frustration, she tried to shift her attention to her beloved grandson instead.
"No, the baby just misses you."
Lily Turner had seen the change in Alia Linton’s expression. Since the mother-in-law didn’t want her to notice anything amiss, she decided to cooperate.
Now the family’s happiness and bliss were most important, and everything else could wait. There was no need to get angry with those who were irrelevant, nor waste ti and energy on them, as it wasn’t worth it.
