Easton Hols knew Lily Turner was a bit embarrassed, so he didn’t put his hand on her stomach again and leaned over to pick up the phone on the coffee table.
He found Ryan Taylor’s number and dialed it.
"It took you so long to call back, you must have taken quite a long shower," Ryan Taylor, who had been waiting for Easton Hols’ call, answered almost instantly when he saw it was Easton calling.
Easton Hols and Ryan Taylor had been good friends since the day they t twenty-eight years ago. They knew each other as well as they knew themselves.
"Let’s cut the crap; if you have any questions, just ask," Easton wasn’t going to explain anything since he knew what his buddy’s previous comnt implied, understanding Ryan was overthinking things.
"Straightforward!" Ryan didn’t hesitate to praise him and got straight to the point, "I heard you and Lily Turner got your marriage license. When did this happen?"
With Lily Turner answering the phone earlier, Ryan was now one hundred percent sure of the truth.
"The day before yesterday," Easton replied concisely, not saying a single word more than necessary.
Ryan realized it wasn’t too late, and upon hearing Easton’s answer, he didn’t show any surprise, "Did you marry Lily Turner because..."
"Because I wanted to get married!"
Before Ryan could finish, Easton abruptly interrupted, stopping him from saying more.
He wanted to get married!
That made perfect sense... but it depends on who says it.
Ryan was very surprised, and along with the surprise ca worry. He was concerned his buddy was affected by so heartless woman.
"Are you serious?" If there were other motives for marrying, neither of them would be happy.
"You should know well. I never do things half-heartedly." Although Easton didn’t directly say he was serious, it wasn’t hard to tell from his words that he was earnest about marrying Lily Turner, without any compromising intentions.
The drama between Lily Turner, Henry Thompson, and Jenny York had been making waves online, and Ryan was sowhat aware of it.
One was abandoned before getting the marriage license, and the other was cheated on before the wedding. It was hard not to co up with complicated reasons for them getting together so quickly.
"Does she feel the sa way you do?"
He knew his buddy well, but he had only t that woman once, so there wasn’t much understanding there.
"Would we be able to get our marriage license if we didn’t?"
Easton didn’t directly answer Ryan’s question but threw it back as another question.
Since his buddy said that, what else could he say?
Ryan didn’t pursue the matter further and switched the topic to sothing else, "You’re not going to skimp on a dinner, are you?"
The dinner wasn’t the main point; the point was for the four of them to get together. He wanted to talk face-to-face with his good buddy and understand so things.
"Don’t worry, I can afford to treat," Easton knew full well what Ryan ant but deliberately twisted his words, hanging up the phone without hesitation before Ryan could respond.
