Lily Turner eased up only to see the car parked on the road. Although the car was as close to the side as possible, because of the urgency of the stop, the rear of the car was still hanging in the middle of the road.
Beep beep beep!
The driver of the car coming up from behind didn’t understand what was going on, thinking Sophia Wood wanted to make a U-turn, so he honked the horn in ti to warn her.
"Let’s find another place to discuss this matter." Lily Turner glanced at the car that flashed past them, suppressed her anger, and sighed softly to remind.
Sophia Wood also heard the honking that reminded her, withdrew her gaze, sat properly in the seat, and drove the car back into the lane.
The mother and daughter seed to have co to an unspoken agreent and did not speak anymore, one focused on driving, the other staring out the car window in a daze, the car was unusually quiet inside.
Sophia Wood took Lily Turner back ho. After the car stopped, she opened the door and got out, regardless of whether Lily would get off or not.
Since that night when she left ho, Lily Turner hadn’t co back. Returning today, she still didn’t feel at ease.
Watching Sophia Wood, who was already walking towards the house door, Lily Turner pushed open the car door to get out. Just as she was closing the door to follow, her phone suddenly rang in her pocket.
Taking out the phone and glancing at it, she saw it was Easton Hols calling. She hesitated for a mont, but finally picked up the call. "Hello!"
After greeting, she quietly waited for any response from the other side of the call.
"Grandpa said a friend ca to see you. Why didn’t you invite your friend over to the house?" After finishing his business, Easton Hols saw a missed call from Callix Linton and imdiately called back.
Callix Linton rarely called him during work hours. He figured sothing urgent had happened at ho, initially thinking it was his troubleso mother causing drama again.
After talking to Callix Linton, Easton Hols realized he had it wrong. It wasn’t his ddleso mother causing trouble but a friend looking for Lily Turner.
Her friend coming to find her wasn’t surprising, but coming to the Military District Compound to find her was unusual. From what he knew of her, she hadn’t told anyone about their marriage.
Needless to say, even her family might not know.
Who exactly was this friend that ca to visit?
He wasn’t trying to interrogate her but was worried she might encounter so unfavorable situation.
Hearing Easton’s question, Lily Turner imdiately guessed that Callix Linton had called him. As she was leaving, she did ntion a friend was looking for her.
"It’s my mom. I’m going ho with her now." She raised her eyes to glance toward the doorway and answered truthfully.
"You’re ho? Then why don’t I see you at the house?" Easton Hols was at their ho calling Lily Turner, fully aware that the ho she ntioned wasn’t the one they shared, yet he still asked her this.
His deliberate questioning was simply to emphasize one point: her ho should only be the one they shared.
What a petty man!
Having spent so ti with Easton Hols, Lily Turner had co to understand him a bit. As soon as he finished speaking, she discerned the real aning behind his words.
"I’m not back at our ho with my mom. I went to my parents’ ho." She paused before continuing, "Tell Grandpa I won’t be back for lunch."
She couldn’t leave right away, and she wasn’t sure when she’d be able to.
