When Easton Hols couldn’t get through to Lily Turner’s phone, he guessed that she was on a call with Alice Turner. Now, hearing her question, it completely confird his previous guess.
"Did your sister tell you?"
He knew her sister had called her, but he wasn’t sure exactly what her sister had said. Regardless of how her sister phrased it, the gist of what he ant was conveyed clearly.
"Don’t play dumb, just tell if it’s true or not." Lily Turner placed the spoon she was holding into the bowl and turned sideways to sit face-to-face with Easton Hols. Her eyes were wide open, staring at him unblinkingly, waiting for him to give her a definite answer.
Seeing this, Easton Hols reached out and pinched Lily Turner’s cheek. "Why are you staring with such big eyes, do you want to eat ?"
While speaking, he waved his hand in front of her eyes, forcing her to blink.
"Don’t change the subject, answer my question."
Lily Turner pushed away the hand waving in front of her eyes and continued to stare at its owner. This ti, her eyes weren’t as wide and had returned to normal.
Easton Hols sighed and feigned innocence, "I didn’t say that. Maybe your sister misunderstood ."
His act of innocence seed so real that anyone unaware of the situation might have believed what he said.
"If you didn’t an it, could my sister and your friends have misunderstood?" Lily Turner had already pieced together the situation from Alice Turner and completely disagreed with Easton Hols’s explanation, believing he was just trying to cover for himself.
Just as Easton Hols opened his mouth to explain, Lily Turner waved her hand to stop him, "Don’t say anything more. This lie you spread, if one day it reaches your grandfather’s ears, you better explain it yourself. I won’t get involved in your ss."
She extricated herself cleanly from the situation, placing full responsibility on him, watching the drama unfold as if it were none of her business.
"Then let’s make it true before it reaches grandfather’s ears." Easton Hols suddenly leaned in, and while Lily Turner was distracted, he reached out and pulled her close. "You can’t just not get involved; I need your full cooperation."
After saying this, he leaned in and gave her a quick kiss, straightening up before she could explode, and sat back down in his seat.
Lily Turner didn’t react as Easton Hols had anticipated. She didn’t say anything, falling into a long silence instead.
"What’s wrong?"
Seeing her remain silent for a long ti and showing no interest in eating, with her head bowed in thought, he was baffled and puzzled.
Lily Turner slowly raised her head and looked at Easton Hols seated beside her. She stared at him for a mont before finally mustering the courage to speak, "Can we wait a few years before having kids?"
She’s only twenty-two, not to ntion their union wasn’t because of love.
She didn’t want to have a child just yet; a child should be a result of love between two people, not a tool to prove sothing.
"Why wait a few years to have kids?"
Easton Hols was very enthusiastic about having children, but Lily Turner poured cold water on that enthusiasm, leaving him feeling chilled to the bone.
Waiting a few years to have children, he saw it as her not wanting to have children with him, which he had sensed from the very beginning.
Lily Turner bit her lip and replied, "We’re both still young, we should be focusing on our careers. If we have a child now, it would greatly affect our careers."
