Alice Turner originally thought it was Benjamin Shaw calling her repeatedly, but when she picked up the phone, she saw it wasn’t just Benjamin’s calls.
Besides his calls, there were also several from his good friend Thomas Fisher. She skimd through them and noticed Thomas had called even more tis than Benjamin.
Why was his good friend getting involved in this?
While Alice Turner was staring at the phone in confusion, the phone rang again, and the na Thomas Fisher appeared instantly before her eyes.
After hesitating for a mont, she finally answered the phone, "Hello, you..."
"Why did it take you so long to answer the phone? Were you busy?" Thomas Fisher anxiously took over as soon as Alice said hello, assuming she must have been busy since she hadn’t answered for so long, without thinking of any other possibilities.
Alice Turner chose to ignore Thomas Fisher’s question and asked, "Is there sothing you needed?"
He must have sothing urgent to call her repeatedly.
"Can’t I call you if there’s nothing?" Thomas Fisher, unaware of any unpleasant events on Alice’s end, responded with a reflexive retort upon hearing her question.
Hearing this, Alice Turner raised her hand to rub her forehead in exasperation, "Of course, you can."
She sighed almost inaudibly and asked again, "What exactly do you need?"
Even though he was her husband’s good friend, she had only t him twice, and her relationship with her husband was quite distant.
How close could they possibly be? They were far from being on terms where they could just chat over the phone.
"Alright! I’m defeated by you."
Thomas Fisher felt a deep sense of frustration. Usually popular with won, he couldn’t feel any of that in front of Alice Turner.
Now he even began to doubt whether his charm was regressing, wondering if he had lost his appeal to won.
He took a deep breath, calming his mood of depression, and then continued, "The rumor online says sister-in-law was hospitalized due to stress during pregnancy. Is it true?"
Thomas Fisher had just heard this from soone else and didn’t know if it was true, so he thought of calling Easton Hols to find out.
But as he took out his phone to dial, he hesitated, thinking it wouldn’t be appropriate to call Easton rashly, especially if the rumor was false and he’d get an earful from Easton.
To play it safe, he decided to first inquire about the situation from Alice Turner instead.
What a gossipy guy!
Alice Turner glared discontentedly at her windshield before responding to the caller, "If you want to know if it’s true, just call and ask your brother."
What was he thinking? Instead of calling his brother directly, he called her to ask about it.
What on earth was he trying to achieve by going in circles?
"I don’t dare call my brother; I’m afraid he’ll scold ." Thomas Fisher didn’t hide anything and spoke frankly, without any pretense. "Given how much I care about your sister, my sister-in-law, please tell ."
In less than three sentences, he started playing his cheeky ga again.
Afraid to ask his brother? Afraid of being scolded by him? What kind of situation was this?
Alice Turner shook her head in bafflent, "Why are you afraid of being scolded by your brother? Do you have so weakness he’s holding over you?"
