Seeing Benjamin Shaw with a woman, Thomas Fisher instinctively tried to help Lily Turner avoid them, but before he could turn around, he saw her pointing at Benjamin in the distance and exclaiming, "That man looks like your elder brother! Look quickly!"
Because she had been drinking, she couldn’t control the volu of her voice when she exclaid.
Thomas rubbed his forehead in frustration and followed Alice Turner’s direction. Indeed, Benjamin had noticed them, and it was too late to dodge.
Alice’s exclamation drew disapproving looks from the surrounding guests and caught Benjamin’s attention. He looked up toward the source of the voice.
The scene of Thomas supporting Alice imdiately entered his line of sight, and he was completely stunned.
Hadn’t she said she couldn’t get away at noon because she had sothing to do? So, her "sothing" was having a al with his friend.
The two were leaning against each other, appearing very familiar and intimate. Since when had she beco so close with his friend? How was he completely unaware?
"Brother!"
Since there was no avoiding it, there was no point in evasion any longer.
Thomas helped Alice walk up to Benjamin boldly. When they arrived in front of him, he stated, "Sister-in-law had too much to drink."
He deliberately emphasized "sister-in-law," and after speaking, he instinctively looked down at the girl seated.
As he expected, the girl was looking up at Alice standing beside him.
"Who had too much? You’re the one who drank too much."
Alice, who was drunk, didn’t notice anything else. She just heard Thomas saying she drank too much and retorted, tilting her head.
Thomas withdrew his gaze from the girl and looked at Alice, who was refuting him, but he didn’t respond. Instead, he pulled her to Benjamin’s side, "Brother! I’ll leave sister-in-law to you."
As he finished speaking, he handed her arm over to his elder brother.
"Didn’t you say we’d drink while eating? Are you trying to back out?" Alice raised her other hand and grabbed Thomas. "You said you’d treat to drinks, and I haven’t had enough yet."
Saying that, she pulled Thomas down to sit beside her, and once she was seated, she broke free from Benjamin’s grip.
Seeing this, Benjamin’s expression imdiately darkened as he walked over and sat down at the seat opposite them.
Thomas made a shushing gesture towards Alice, signaling her to calm down. After she quieted down, he turned to look at Benjamin seated across from them.
Seeing his elder brother’s face sour, his heart skipped a beat. He pried open the hand clutching his sleeve, then started to explain to his brother, "Sister-in-law helped with sothing, so I treated her to drinks to express my gratitude."
He hadn’t expected her to have such poor tolerance for alcohol, getting drunk after so little, nor had he expected to run into Benjamin there.
"Hmm!"
Benjamin rely responded with a nonchalant "hmm," then turned his head to the young girl sitting beside him. "Order whatever you want to eat."
As he spoke, he picked up the nu on the table and handed it to the young girl. Throughout this process, he didn’t glance at Alice at all.
"Brother! Who is this lovely lady? Aren’t you going to introduce us?" Seeing Benjamin’s indifference towards Alice but enthusiasm for another woman, Thomas couldn’t help but speak up, feeling indignant.
