After much contemplation, Michael Linton felt that it might not be appropriate for Aiden Taylor to visit Lily Turner’s ho, fearing his father, Callix Linton, might notice sothing amiss.
For now, he didn’t want his father to know about this issue, as he didn’t have any concrete evidence to prove anything yet. He wanted to wait until he had definitive proof before discussing it with his father, considering this to be a more prudent approach.
Inviting Lily Turner out to dinner alone would certainly arouse Easton Hols’ suspicion. He thought he wouldn’t be able to invite her alone anyway, as neither she nor her nephew would agree to it, and besides, it would just feel strange.
To arrange for Lily Turner and Aiden Taylor to et successfully, Michael Linton decided to invite Lily Turner and Easton Hols to dinner outside in the evening, using the al as a ruse for an unexpected encounter between Lily and Aiden.
"Your uncle wasn’t aware of your wedding beforehand, and I didn’t get the chance to prepare a gift for you two when I ca over. I’d like to treat both of you to a grand dinner to congratulate you on your marriage," Michael Linton himself felt sowhat verbose and convoluted, and so must have Lily Turner on the other end of the call. Now, he could only hope she would agree.
A wedding celebration?
Lily Turner couldn’t quite believe that Michael Linton’s invitation to dinner was purely innocent. If her mother, Sophia Wood, hadn’t just visited her house, she might have actually believed it.
But her mother had just left, and then he called to invite her and Easton Hols to dinner? Isn’t the timing a bit too coincidental?
"Uncle! You’re too kind, we’re all family, you really don’t need to be so formal." Since it’s a wedding celebration, bringing along the old man Linton wouldn’t be excessive, yet he specifically only invited her and her husband.
There’s definitely sothing fishy about this dinner!
Through various signs, Lily Turner realized there were many suspicious points in this matter. She wasn’t worried that Michael Linton would harm her; she just didn’t want to et her mother again. Her heart had already been completely hurt.
"Uncle is not being polite; I just want to congratulate you," even though Lily Turner didn’t explicitly refuse, Michael Linton could sense her intention to decline over the phone. This was the last outco and situation he wanted to see.
"It’s decided then. I’ll give Easton a call and tell him," Michael Linton didn’t give Lily Turner a chance to refuse, deciding on the matter unilaterally.
After he finished speaking, he promptly hung up, not leaving her with the slightest opportunity.
After hanging up the phone, Michael Linton stared at the phone for a while, then proceeded to dial Easton Hols. While waiting for the call to be answered, he quickly devised a plan.
By the ti the person on the other end picked up, he was ready with a plan.
"Uncle! What’s up?"
Easton Hols answered the phone, his first words were questioning what his uncle needed. His uncle wouldn’t call him for no reason; he wasn’t the type to chat idly when bored.
"Yes! Sothing good!"
Michael Linton deliberately stirred his emotions, paused briefly, then said, "I just called Lily and arranged it. I’ll treat both of you to a grand dinner tonight."
To prevent rejection, he spoke with absolute certainty, even bringing up Lily Turner to increase the chances of success.
"You’re treating us to a grand dinner? What’s the occasion?"
Easton Hols questioned with the sa doubt and surprise as Lily Turner, his tone of suspicion mirroring hers closely.
