Theodore Hols sat silently beside them for a long ti, just watching Fabian Hols and Alia Linton quietly, his gaze flickering rapidly between his parents.
After a while, Theodore made an effort to focus his eyes on Alia Linton who was sitting a bit further away, "Mom! Where exactly did you and Dad bring back from? Who are my biological parents? And where are they now?"
He stared at her without blinking, concealing a resentnt deep in his eyes, which he hid so well that she didn’t notice at all.
To ensure Theodore could grow up happily and without any burdens, Fabian Hols had discussed with Alia Linton back when he brought Theodore ho, and decided that if Theodore ever asked, they would say he was adopted from outside.
Fabian Hols didn’t want Theodore to be labeled as an illegitimate child or the child of a mistress, as that would subject Theodore to ridicule and make his life unhappy.
Over the years, Theodore had asked Alia Linton this kind of question more than once, but in recent years, he had rarely asked again. However, today he brought it up once more, and under such circumstances.
Alia Linton, already filled with anger, blurted out when she heard Theodore revisiting the past, "Your biological parents died many years ago."
The vile woman was already dead, and although the man was sitting not far beside her, his heart wasn’t with her at all, tantamount to being dead.
"My biological parents are dead?"
Theodore glanced at Fabian Hols from the corner of his eye and saw Fabian’s expression turning incredibly grim, yet he remained silent without uttering a word. A faint smile ford at the corners of his mouth.
Alia Linton nodded, "They’ve been dead for eighteen years."
With those words, she leaned her head to look at Fabian Hols, her heart filled with resentnt.
"Do you know where my biological parents’ grave is? I want to visit them and ask why they abandoned back then." Theodore boldly looked Alia Linton in the eye, then boldly at Fabian Hols, finally fixing his gaze on Fabian Hols.
His gaze was sharp at this mont, and his expression was severely stern.
For the first ti, being stared at by Theodore like this made Fabian Hols feel unnerved; he gave a slight cough to ease his emotions and tried to calm himself down.
"They don’t have a grave."
As Fabian adjusted his emotions and was ready to speak, Alia Linton, sitting beside him, beat him to it, rendering his prepared words useless.
Upon hearing this, Theodore quickly withdrew his gaze from Fabian Hols and shifted it swiftly back to Alia Linton, "How could they not have a grave? Could it be they didn’t die naturally?"
When saying the last six words about not dying naturally, his voice had a slight tremor, which was hard to detect unless listened to carefully.
"They... "
"Of course, they died naturally, it’s just that we don’t know where their grave is exactly, we weren’t familiar with them."
To prevent Alia Linton from uttering anything shocking again, Fabian Hols forced a takeover of the conversation to explain to Theodore.
In a rush, he could only think of this explanation, and whether Theodore would accept it, he didn’t know, but he himself didn’t accept it in his heart.
