Isla Lane’s words suddenly cooled the atmosphere; seeing that none of the other three people present paid her any attention, she felt a bit embarrassed.
"I’ll call that brat right now and see exactly where he’s run off to." She said angrily, and then took out her phone from her handbag.
She didn’t dial imdiately but instead walked off to the side with the phone in hand, only stopping when she felt she was far enough from the other three.
Glancing at the three people standing not far away, Isla Lane picked up the phone and found Benjamin Shaw’s number, dialing it without any hesitation.
"Mom! Stop calling already, I’m busy helping Easton right now," Benjamin Shaw answered in a voice full of dissatisfaction and impatience after a few rings.
Through the phone, Isla Lane sensed Benjamin Shaw’s impatience. At that mont, her mind was filled with too many questions, leaving her no extra thought to dwell on this attitude.
"Are you really with Easton now? Then who is this Easton at your in-laws? Did I see it wrong sohow?" She wanted to use this tactic to coax the truth from the person on the other end, hoping her trick would lead her son to tell the truth.
After Isla Lane’s words, the call went silent. She couldn’t hear anything, thinking maybe the call was hung up from the other side.
She took the phone away from her ear and looked at it, seeing that the call was still active, so she placed it back against her ear.
"Where exactly are you now?"
The phone remained silent, prompting Isla Lane to ask again.
"I’m outside."
"Where outside? Shouldn’t you be at your in-laws now anyway? What’s more important today than helping out at your in-laws?"
Benjamin Shaw was silent for a long ti before just saying "I’m outside." His brief four-word reply left Isla Lane extrely dissatisfied, igniting a fire in her heart.
She wholeheartedly believed in her son, yet he lied to her, which felt like she was slapping her own face.
Isla Lane was well aware that Benjamin Shaw was still resenting their insistence on his marriage to Alexander Shaw, she thought this resentnt would fade with ti, but it turned out she was wrong.
His resentnt not only didn’t fade but seed to be worsening; otherwise, he wouldn’t be playing such tricks on her at this mont.
Her son wasn’t the kind of person who couldn’t prioritize; there was only one explanation for his actions today: he was doing it on purpose to upset them.
Just as Isla Lane thought, Benjamin Shaw’s actions today were deliberate. He wasn’t in any ssy place; in fact, he was staying at a hotel nearest to the villa.
He knew that his parents would go to the Turner Family later in the evening to offer congratulations, and they would certainly notice his absence. He thought they would be mad if they found him missing.
However, he hadn’t expected his parents to call him before leaving ho, so he had to say he was helping out near the villa.
He had initially planned to help at the villa, but when he called one of his close friends, the friend said there was nothing that needed help at the mont.
So he stayed at the hotel and planned to go over when needed. He chose the hotel closest to the villa to conveniently rush over whenever necessary.
"Of course, there is."
Benjamin Shaw replied with deliberate ambiguity.
