After Lily Turner entered the house, Easton Hols finally turned the car around and left. What he didn’t know was that just after he drove off, she ca back out again, staring long at the direction he left before turning back into the house.
"Why are you back alone? Where’s Easton?" Seeing Lily return by herself, Christopher Turner, who was waiting in the living room to see Easton, was sowhat disappointed. He straightened up from where he was leaning on the sofa and looked over her shoulder, not seeing anyone else behind her.
Lily pointed in the direction of the door and walked towards the sofa while explaining, "Easton was supposed to co in, but his grandfather suddenly called him back. He had to rush back and asked to apologize to you and Mom on his behalf."
She explained it in detail to make things clear.
"Will he co over later?"
Christopher had not given up hope. He was staying up and hadn’t gone back to rest, just to wait for Easton to co back.
Lily shook her head. "He won’t be coming over tonight."
After saying that, she let out a quiet sigh. He had just left, yet she already started to miss him.
"Oh."
Christopher responded with a sigh of disappointnt and then said nothing more. He stood up and left the living room, heading back to his room.
After Christopher left, Sophia Wood got up and walked over to sit next to Lily. She reached out and held Lily’s hand, "Do you want to eat sothing? I can make it for you."
Her eyes were filled with maternal love. She had neglected this love for many years, but today she was determined to make up for all the lost maternal affection.
"I don’t want to eat anything right now; I just want to spend so ti with you." Lily slipped her arm around Sophia’s, then rested her head on her shoulder. "Mom! I want to sleep with you tonight."
It had been her wish since childhood—she had never slept with her mom before.
From as long as she could rember, she felt that her mother disliked her. Not only could she never sleep in her mother’s arms, but her mother rarely even showed a kind face to her.
This was also Sophia’s regret. From the mont she was driven out by the Taylor Family elders, she hated everyone in the Taylor Family, including Lily, a third-generation mber.
When Lily was very young, Sophia made her sleep alone. No matter how much Lily cried or fussed, Sophia never let her sleep by her side.
"Okay! I’ll sleep with you."
Thinking about how she had treated Lily in the past, Sophia felt she was so heartless.
She rembered one stormy night, little Lily ca to her crying, saying she was scared and wanted to sleep with her, but Sophia cruelly pushed the little girl away.
That night, Lily was so frightened that she developed a high fever. Sophia felt heartache and regret for a mont that night, but just for that mont. After Lily’s fever subsided, she reverted to treating her as she had before.
This evening, Sophia was suddenly reminded of that night, although many years had passed, it felt as if it had happened just last night.
She withdrew her hand and embraced Lily, who was leaning against her. She said nothing, simply tightening her arms around her, needing to feel her daughter’s presence.
At this mont, everything was expressed without words.
