Alice Turner looked at Sophia Wood, who was so determined, and didn’t insist on returning to the guest room to find Lily Turner and Hazel Jackson. She turned around to open the door.
"Alice! We’re here."
The person ringing the doorbell outside was Isla Lane. Seeing Alice open the door, she imdiately greeted her happily.
"Mom! Dad! Sis! Brother-in-law!"
Under Isla Lane’s enthusiastic rallying, the Shaw Family arrived early at the Turner Family to attend Lily Turner and Easton Hols’ wedding.
Alice greeted everyone in the Shaw Family except Benjamin Shaw. She acted as if she didn’t see him, opened the main door, and let the guests inside.
"In-law! In-law!"
Seeing the Shaw Family arrive, Sophia Wood and Christopher Turner quickly ca out to greet them and welcod the whole family into the living room.
After all, they were her in-laws, and today was such an important day. Alice did not act stubbornly or sulk. She followed her parents inside to entertain the Shaw Family, who had co early to offer their congratulations.
"Where’s Lily? Why don’t I see Lily?"
Isla Lane looked around but didn’t see the tall figure. In fact, she wasn’t really concerned about Lily Turner; she was just trying to liven up the atmosphere.
Sophia Wood pointed towards the direction of the guest room and smiled, "Lily is inside doing her makeup."
As the two mothers-in-law were talking, Aunt Hua ca in carrying tea. Alice quickly went over to help, and together with Aunt Hua, they poured water for the guests.
"Benjamin! What have you been busy with lately?"
Christopher Turner moved slightly to sit beside Benjamin Shaw. This was his third ti seeing this son-in-law at their ho.
The first ti was on the day of the wedding, the second was when they returned for a visit, and the third ti was today.
He was satisfied with this son-in-law in every aspect, except he felt this son-in-law was quite distant from their family.
Isla Lane detected Christopher Turner’s dissatisfaction with Benjamin Shaw and quickly spoke up to defend her son, "Benjamin’s father hasn’t been feeling well lately, so he didn’t go to the company. The whole company was handed over to Ben, and there’s been especially a lot of work recently. Last night, he was busy until midnight before coming ho."
She said a lot, but apart from his father not feeling well being true, the rest were lies.
She was doing her utmost to help her son, but she didn’t have much confidence in her heart. She didn’t know if the others would believe her, nor if her son would appreciate it.
"Was your husband unwell recently? What happened? Alice didn’t tell us when she ca back." Christopher Turner thought Isla Lane was making excuses for Benjamin Shaw. All the words she just said seed like excuses and reasons. He felt even more dissatisfied with Benjamin not visiting their ho.
He had personally called this son-in-law, but this son-in-law completely ignored him. It was impossible for him not to be upset.
This eldest son-in-law couldn’t compare to the second son-in-law at all. The two were good brothers, yet their attitude toward him as their father-in-law was so vastly different.
Hearing what Christopher said, Alice, who was pouring water, felt wronged in her heart. How could she be hearing for the first ti that her father-in-law was unwell?
Hearing this, Isla Lane hurriedly explained, "I didn’t tell Alice. Alice didn’t know that Mr. Shaw was unwell."
This was the truth. She thought a minor illness shouldn’t cause turmoil in the family.
"Didn’t Benjamin know? Didn’t he tell Alice either?" Christopher Turner seed to be digging deeper, looking at Benjamin Shaw, who had been silent the entire ti. His gaze turned, and he looked at Isla Lane again.
