"Did you call ?"
Lily Turner asked knowingly, even though the ssage in the phone clearly stated that he had called her that night. She couldn't help but ask anyway.
Upon hearing this, Easton Hols turned his head to glance at the woman who was obviously aware, "You've seen it, haven't you?"
"Have you been busy these days?"
Lily hesitated for a mont before voicing the question in her mind. She had sent him a ssage three days ago asking him to call back, but he only called today. She wasn't trying to interrogate him; she was just curious if he hadn't used his phone at all these past three days.
"I went out for a military exercise, didn't bring my phone."
A week ago, Easton had led his elite team to a military exercise with another unit. Before departure, everyone, including him, handed in their phones to be kept at the base.
After the exercise ended and he returned to the base, the first thing he saw when he turned on his phone was the ssage she had sent him.
As he was wondering what urgent matter she had, Luke Crowe rushed into his office, looking anxious with a tablet in hand.
At that mont, he found out that rumors on the internet claid she was being kept by a mysterious investor — him.
Imdiately, he instructed Luke to call her boss and inquire about the rumors, and he also asked Luke to subtly check on her situation.
Upon learning that she was filming here, his legs seed to move of their own accord, taking him away from the base, driving straight here.
After hearing Easton's explanation, the doubts in Lily's heart were instantly cleared. Afraid he might get angry, she decided not to bring up the house matter first; she would wait until he took her to the place before ntioning it.
Glancing at the man driving, she dialed Helena's number.
"Lily!" After the phone rang twice, Helena answered.
"Helena! My family just called saying there's an urgent issue at ho. I have to go back now, but rest assured, I'll be at the set on ti tomorrow." Lily said a lot in one breath, not giving Helena a chance to speak again. She continued, "That's it, I'm hanging up!"
With that, she hung up the phone without caring about the reaction on the other end.
After hanging up, Lily turned again to look at the man driving, "Now can you tell where we are going?"
Being taken out by a man late at night made her a bit anxious; this man was not to be underestimated.
"Didn't you just say you had urgent matters at ho and needed to go back?" Easton didn't directly answer Lily's question but echoed her words.
At this, Lily imdiately rolled her eyes at him, "Wasn't it you who told to say that just now?"
Wait a minute! Why did she follow his words just now and say there was an urgent matter at ho? Wasn't that inviting trouble to her family?
"The point now is not who told you to say it, but that you've already said it." Easton kept his eyes on the road ahead, but he could sense Lily's dissatisfaction with him, though he pretended not to notice.
Hearing this, Lily glared at Easton indignantly, "Mr. Hols! Do your parents know how devious you are?"
Easton rely turned his head to glance at Lily expressionlessly, without responding to her indignation, looking sowhat displeased.
