Seeing Lily Turner coming down from upstairs with a plate and bowl, Auntie Li, who was cleaning, put down her mop and walked over, reaching out to take the items from her. Lily dodged, "Auntie! You carry on with your work, I’ll take these myself."
As she was about to head to the kitchen, she suddenly rembered sothing and turned to Auntie Li, "Auntie! Did you see Easton go out?"
Not seeing him upstairs, she figured he must have gone out.
"Did Easton leave? I didn’t see him go out." Auntie Li had been cleaning the whole ti and didn’t see Easton Hols co downstairs. She was quite puzzled upon hearing Lily Turner’s question.
"Oh! No problem, I’ll just deliver these bowls." Lily Turner didn’t ask Auntie Li anything more and walked to the kitchen with the plate and bowl. As she headed to the kitchen, it suddenly occurred to her that Easton Hols was still in his pajamas; he couldn’t have gone out.
After washing her bowl, Lily Turner didn’t go back upstairs. Instead, she went to the living room, but didn’t see Grandpa Li there, which she found odd.
At this ti, Grandpa Li would usually be in the living room watching TV or reading the newspaper. Why isn’t he here today? Did he go out?
Lily Turner instinctively glanced towards the door and walked over to sit on the sofa. She decided to watch TV downstairs so as not to disturb Easton Hols who was doing serious work upstairs.
Ring! Ring!
Hearing the phone suddenly ring, Lily Turner put the remote on the coffee table and got up to answer the phone.
The ho phone!
Seeing it display the fixed number of the Turner Family, Lily Turner quickly picked up the phone, "Hello! Mom!"
At this ti, it could only be her mother calling; it certainly wouldn’t be anyone else.
"Lily! You’re up!"
Lily’s prediction was correct. The call was indeed from Sophia Wood, who sounded quite surprised to hear Lily answer.
Over the phone, Lily felt her mom’s surprise, "Mom! Is it strange that I’m up?"
Does she usually wake up late? It shouldn’t be that late, right?
Lily Turner instinctively glanced at the clock on the wall; it was almost ten-thirty, and in just over an hour it would be ti for lunch.
"That’s not what I ant. You didn’t sleep well the night before last, and you were exhausted all day yesterday. I thought you’d sleep in a bit." Sophia Wood spoke cautiously. As soone experienced, how could she not know the tiring nature of the wedding night, but she didn’t call to discuss that.
Lily Turner also guessed that Sophia Wood wasn’t calling about that, so she put away all her emotions and asked seriously, "Mom! What’s the matter with calling ?"
Her mom wouldn’t call easily unless there was sothing important, especially using the ho phone.
"...Oh! Nothing much, I just miss you a bit." Sophia Wood hesitated for a mont before responding, but her response felt dismissive, not truly from the heart.
Lily Turner was skeptical, so she asked again, "Really, nothing’s up?"
She felt that her mom wouldn’t call without reason, but she couldn’t tell if her mom was lying to her.
At that mont, Lily Turner saw Easton Hols rushing down from upstairs, "Mom! Hold on a second."
She said to the person on the phone, put it down, and walked over to him.
