From the mont Fabian Hols called and started speaking, whether in conversation or between the lines, he consistently sided with Theodore Hols, which Michael Linton heard very clearly and felt distinctly.
Fabian’s natural bias towards Theodore made Michael very uncomfortable. He felt aggrieved for his nephew Easton Hols and sensed the injustice.
They’re both sons, so why treat them differently?
"Easton is also your son. You should just speak to him directly." If he guessed correctly, his brother-in-law had already called his nephew, and since his nephew refused, he was calling him.
"I just called him and ntioned this matter, but he said there was no room for negotiation. That’s why I’m calling you, hoping you can help persuade him." Fabian hadn’t realized Michael had already figured this out and honestly shared the situation with his brother-in-law, hoping he could assist.
Upon hearing these words, Michael raised an eyebrow knowingly, though he didn’t feel smug about guessing correctly, because he sensed the seriousness of the matter in Fabian’s words.
"Easton said there wasn’t any room for negotiation. I know Easton very well..."
"You must help persuade Easton. I can’t bear to see anything happen between the brothers. It wouldn’t be good for either of them, nor for our entire family."
Before Michael could finish his sentence, Fabian interrupted him impatiently, spilling out his thoughts in one breath.
These latest words were more palatable to Michael, who felt they were the most sensible Fabian had spoken today, and he didn’t waste more words on the call.
"I’ll try my best to persuade him." He could only promise to try, knowing very well his nephew’s temperant and style. His nephew isn’t soone easily swayed.
"Easton isn’t asleep yet, go find him quickly. I won’t hold you up with more conversation." Fabian said anxiously before swiftly hanging up the phone, not caring how Michael felt about it, disconnecting so abruptly.
Hearing the dial tone, Michael knew Fabian had already hung up. He took the phone away from his ear and sighed deeply at the phone.
"What on earth happened?"
Seeing Michael finish his call with Fabian, Serena Zimrman quickly tugged at Michael’s sleeve and asked.
Michael was still bewildered himself, unsure how to explain to Serena. He removed her hand clutching his sleeve and got out of bed with the phone.
"I’m going to find Easton now; you go ahead and sleep." After speaking, he stepped towards the room’s exit, but barely took a step before being pulled back by soone on the bed. Turning to look at the person holding him, his eyes showed confusion and displeasure, "Why are you pulling ?"
While speaking, he raised his other hand to pull away the hand gripping his arm.
"Athena is insensible, but aren’t you too? Easton and Lily are newlyweds. Is it appropriate to visit him this late?" Serena, though unsure what had happened, felt regardless of the situation, not to disturb the newlyweds so late.
Upon hearing this, the confusion and displeasure in Michael’s eyes vanished swiftly, but he still pulled Serena’s hand away. "Easton isn’t asleep yet, I’m going out to call him."
