Of course, Diederich stared at him as if he were an idiot.

“Young man, you think this war is black and white,” Diederich comnted with a frown, his muscles bulging further. “You think just because you can overpower most soldiers, you’ll win?”

He chuckled. “I suppose it makes sense considering neither you nor your wife have any experience in this field. You’re just two headless monkeys who are about to learn the reality of the world we all live in.”

With those words, Diederich kicked the ground.

The sand gradually parted, flying all into the sky and revealing a black cobblestone platform beneath them.

It had intricate symbols carved into it, ones Rael couldn’t understand.

Diederich stepped forward, his halberd dragging across the black cobblestone.

“What do you think the outco will be, Rael Sutekh?” Diederich asked coldly. “Who would win? A ruler who ca into power by marrying a woman or a man who rose up and took everything with just his capabilities alone?”

Rael stared at Diederich for a few monts, then shrugged.

“Be that as it may, if I can kill you here, a big weight will be off my shoulders. All I’ll have to do after that is deal with the people,” Rael replied flatly.

As optimistic and naïve as it might’ve co off, that was just a simple plan he had co up with.

But now that he stood in front of Diederich, he was really starting to doubt himself.
