Chapter 227: Unreadable Outer

“…?” Anubis tilted her head. “…What?”

“Huuuh!?” Anubis’s eyes bead in amazent. “Just what did you do, boy? Did you massacre a family of virgin gods? Wow… I envy your boldness.”

The pressure surrounding him suddenly disappeared. Rael slowly stood up, then let out a sigh.

“What are you talking about?” he asked.

“My skill doesn’t fail unless the causality of a person is worse than my own,” Anubis replied, a grin tugging at her lips. “And trust , boy… my karma is so bad, if I went back to where I ca from, the universe would delete .”

[Looks like you two are bonding over being unlucky and hated by everyone. Nice,] Burger comnted.

“Maybe you’re… Hm?”

[Well… there goes the bonding.]

No shit. Rael sighed, eting Anubis’s golden eyes.

“Whatever you’re seeing is out of my control. I just do that sotis.”

“No, I don’t exactly care about this puny skill,” Anubis replied flatly. “I’m more curious how you got it. Back in my holand, this type of skill was reserved for the Ancient Mindweavers. They were a creepy bunch, but I never fought them because I slept through most of the eras they existed in.”

She tilted her head. “Are you one of them? An Ancient Mindweaver?”

Rael stared at her for a few monts in silence. “If I answer, will you stop with that judgent idea?”

“No.”

“Then I’m a gold-shitting fairy,” Rael said plainly. “Now get it over with.”

“Also no.” Anubis shook her head, then narrowed her eyes. “Tell … are you like ?”

He looked her up and down, his brow rising. “In what way exactly?”

A faint smile appeared on her face as she turned her back to him, silently staring up at the sky.

“You know, Outer Gods can survive universal deletion if they change universes. That’s why most of us who have bad karma leave,” Anubis said with a hum.

“Our causality is flawed, and even in the other worlds we suffer. We can live like the others, but since we have no universal limit placed on us, we’re deed outcasts. They label us evil because of what a certain group of people did in the past.”

She turned to him, her smile still present. “But did you know negative karma can be acquired not only through evil deeds?”

“Obviously. I haven’t done a single evil thing since I got here,” Rael replied.

Probably.

Anubis nodded. “You know, I once heard my powers are a combination between two gods’, and because of that, the universe assigned a role. I had to be both the God of the Sun and the person who judged those who had been killed. I never stuck to that role. To be honest… I really didn’t care about it that much.”

Rael’s brows furrowed as he finally realized where she was going with this.

“So you’re saying our causality decreases if we don’t follow so stupid rule?” Rael asked. “So if I was the God of Death, and I killed people, would my karma be positive?”

“Mhm.” Anubis affird. “It’s two sides of the sa coin, yet each has its own outco. Your fate can even be changed if a god of the opposite alignnt blesses you. It’s really that simple, and stupid. But in your case…”

She t his eyes. “How did you escape from your universe?”

“Hmm?” Rael tilted his head, and as he was about to rebuke her, he halted.

Anubis did ntion that those who had severe negative karma got deleted by the universe. Yet the Hollow King, Kareth, told him he’d be deleted by the world.

He couldn’t exactly tell the difference, but when he thought about it more, he ca to a rough conclusion.

He had lived in a world where all you had to do was put on a VR headset to be able to play Sketa Online. Now he was in the actual world of Sketa Online, which turned out to be completely real.

Rael had never looked too deeply into it, but sohow, traversing universes made sense.

It would also explain why he wasn’t being deleted by the universe. It was because he never belonged here in the first place.

In his old universe, the events of Sketa Online had actually occurred. From the countless massacres, to Zafira’s dethronent. Everything.

But after eating that strange Beast Eye, he actually managed to traverse universes and arrive at a point in the past.

Or at least, that was the only explanation he could co up with.

This is hurting my head just thinking about it… fuck ti paradoxes and fuck alternate realities especially, Rael grumbled.

He sighed. “It doesn’t matter how I got here. Just know that—”

“It kind of does though?” Anubis cut him off. “A mortal has never been able to cross universes before. It’s a pretty big deal.”

“But how exactly does it concern you?” Rael asked, annoyed.

“It doesn’t concern directly, but…” Anubis trailed off as she jumped off the thread and landed in front of him.

“If just anyone can co and go between universes, then that ans the universal laws are going to change. Causality will be treated differently, and us Outer Gods are going to be in big trouble,” Anubis replied flatly. “So yes. It’s a very big deal since it ans we’re likely going to have limits placed on us. We might even be deleted.”

His brows furrowed. “You said my causality is already pretty bad, right? I would’ve already been deleted if these new laws had been implented, but I’m still fine.”

Anubis shrugged. “It only takes one person to cause the laws to change. And whether it will happen soon or never is sothing I can’t predict.”

She paused, a sadistic smirk forming on her face as she t his eyes.

“I’m quite curious… so why don’t we find out what kind of universe you ca from?”
