Chapter 276: The Escapee

Rael approached the counter and tapped on it, waking up the Procrastinating Wizard.

He seed like a man in his late 30s, with dark bags around his eyes.

Both his hair and his beard were black, with only a few gray hairs showing.

“On your second midlife crisis already?”

The Procrastinating Wizard picked his ears and tilted his head.

“What was that? Sorry… I couldn’t hear you that well.”

“Nothing much, just interested in so potions,” Rael replied innocently. “Say, do you have any potions that can increase libido? But like… on a very large scale.”

The Procrastinating Wizard nodded, completely unfazed by the comnt.

“How large of a scale?”

Rael pretended to fall into thought, then raised a single finger.

“Continental?”

The Procrastinating Wizard’s brows twitched.

“That might cost you a little…” he trailed off, letting out a sigh. “I hate to ask, but are you planning on traveling to a world filled with won and dropping the libido nuke to create your own continental harem?”

Rael whistled in amusent.

But before he could continue on with his bullshit, Zafira pinched his cheek.

“I was just getting to the fun part…” Rael muttered.

Anyhow, he decided to cut straight to the chase.

Rael reached into his inventory and pulled out a particular item he had acquired back in the Depths.

—A rug that turned magical because the Procrastinating Wizard ditated too long (Rare)

He tossed the rug onto the counter and t the Procrastinating Wizard’s gaze.

His eyes trembled for a few monts when, all of a sudden, he raised a single finger and tapped the air.

Rael let out a sigh.

“Look, man. I’m not here to antagonize you or anything, I just want to ask a few questions,” Rael stated. “For one… how did you get out from the Depths? Are you the one who escaped all those years ago?”

The Procrastinating Wizard’s brows furrowed.

“Did that bitch send you to get ? Why am I not surprised… I knew I couldn’t stay hidden for long…” he trailed off. “I knew I should’ve moved out of here last year…”

Zafira cleared her throat, gathering his attention.

“Look, I’m not affiliated with any faction, and I can assure you that Rael here is a person you can trust.”

“Trust?” The Procrastinating Wizard scoffed. “Anyone who knows of the existence of the Depths cannot be trusted. So in my book, both of you need to move your asses out of here.”

“If you think we’re with the Blazing Sun faction, then we’re not,” Rael stated. “I was inside the Depths nearly a month ago, and I went through so interesting experiences. One such experience was finding your magic tower, as well as the flying rug inside it.”

He scratched his cheek.

“Basically… if you’re the man I think you are, then you’re no longer safe,” Rael added. “Solenne has sent down her goons to look for a man that escaped the Depths around 20 years ago. When she finds the man… who I’m pretty sure is you, she’s going to use you to enter the Depths, and after that, I can only imagine what will happen.”

Rael’s words hung in the air for a few monts as the tir ticked down.

But the mont it hit 1 second, the tir stopped.

“Sit…” The Procrastinating Wizard gestured to the seats off to the side. “I’ll be with you in a mont.”

Rael and Zafira exchanged a look, then sat down.

She seed confused, and rightfully so. While he had told her so stuff about Solenne, and even the Depths, he left out the boring monts.

After all, traveling to a magic tower and finding a rug just wasn’t that interesting.

So with that, he gave her a quick rundown on the situation, and that was when the Procrastinating Wizard finally arrived, pulling up a seat in front of them.

“My na’s Marlen Quinn the Third, Archmage of the Arcane, Grand Procrastinator of the Sleeping Cult, Forr Apprentice of the Eternal Fire Wizard, a master tinkerer, an expert alchemist, and many more titles than I’d care to na,” he introduced himself.

Rael’s head spun from the introduction.

Fucking hell… It’s nearly as bad as Seryn’s. But at least this guy’s na is shorter… aside from the titles, he seems like a normal guy, Rael thought, leaning back.

“So I take it I was right?” he asked. “About you being the one who escaped the Depths.”

Marlen nodded slowly. “Your deduction was indeed correct… though the news is rather unsettling.”

“I can understand. I t Solenne, and she… or whatever that thing is, was a being I’d rather not face again,” Rael replied with a chuckle. “But on the other hand… I think I have a way I can help you.”

“Help ?” Marlen tilted his head. “Let guess, you plan on sending back to the Depths, correct?”

“That’s the gist of it,” Rael said flatly. “Is sothing wrong with the Depths?”

Marlen scoffed. “What isn’t wrong with the Depths? That hellhole is terrible… I can’t stargaze, I can’t camp outside because a fucking monster will eat my brains. Food tastes like shit, and last but not least… those monsters, they invade your dreams and…”

He didn’t need to finish his words for Rael to get the gist of the situation.

The translation: the Depths was a place where it’s hard to live, and because of the overpowered monsters guarding each continent and killing millions on a whim. It wasn’t safe either.

But there was one project Rael had been working on ever since leaving behind a few constructs to clean the lands in the Depths.

“You see… I’m planning to establish a country over in the Depths. Since I have so connections to the monsters and even a Primordial God, I believe I can negotiate a deal to make living there much easier.”

A mont of silence ensued, but just as Marlen opened his mouth to speak, Rael continued.

“But before all that, I need to know one thing…” Rael’s eyes narrowed.

“What was the actual reason you left the Depths… and how?”
