“I lost…” Todd’s expression drooped.
“Heh.” Rael snickered. “Better luck next ti.”
Even though he acted cheerful, he was a bit worried.
After all, his remaining ti had decreased.
He didn’t lose all hope just yet as he glanced to the side.

“Hmm…” Rael tilted his head as he looked at the items in his hands.
There was one blue stone slate and two potions whose colors he couldn’t identify.
Still…
“That was a bit underwhelming.”
Yet the others didn’t share the sa sarcasm as him.
Instead, Todd placed a hand on Rael’s shoulder and let out a sigh.
“Sorry man, there were no healing potions.”
“…”
“We still have ti. Maybe we can clear another one?” Jane suggested out of nowhere. “This one was an Undead-type shrine… maybe we need sothing with Light or Water? Those tend to be associated with healing, right?”
“I can only use my Shrine Detection skill once,” Timon, the scribe, announced. “Though… I guess it doesn’t hurt if we ask around. Maybe soone’s generous enough to have sothing for us.”
“It’s wishful thinking,” Rael said plainly. “But you do you. I’m going to try figuring sothing out by myself.”
Before they could reply, Rael chugged both of the potions in an instant.

Over 1,000 HP, and yet I’m not healing even a little bit, Rael thought as reality began to slowly set in.
His heart was pierced, and the ice surrounding it was slowly starting to lt.
Even the system itself called him a corpse, and now he only had 9 hours left to live.
“Where will you all be going now?” Rael asked.
Todd tilted his head. “What do you an? We’re all going to go back to the city and rest. We have a neat little campsite set up on the outskirts where barely anything is destroyed.”
He t Rael’s gaze. “Why?”
“It’s nothing,” Rael said, glancing at Julian. “How far away are you from evolving your class?”
“3,224 people left…” Julian replied.
Knowing where this was heading, he tried to stop Rael. “If you’re planning to leave us behind and go on so soul-searching quest, then don’t bother. Jane and I can at least keep your condition at bay.”
Rael paused, letting out a sigh. “You’re going to turn into a human popsicle by tomorrow. I’m going to look for another way, but I appreciate it, and I swear if I make it out alive, I’ll be sure to visit you in your camp.”
A mont of silence ensued as the group seed noticeably uneasy.
They didn’t know each other long, but after this Shrine, they ford a mutual bond.
Yet before that bond could escalate, Rael was cutting off the thread.
It wasn’t on purpose; he just didn’t want to stick around optimists.
So with that, he turned around and prepared to head out.
But that was when Todd cleared his throat and stepped forward, holding a single piece of parchnt.
Rael tilted his head slightly, then accepted it.
Imdiately, a pop-up appeared.
“Since I want to hold you to that promise… whenever you’re all fine and dandy, use that compass and pay us a visit. It doesn’t only track the base.” Todd pointed at Timon. “He’s the catalyst behind it, so wherever he is, that compass will point toward.”
A faint smile appeared on Rael’s face as he shot the group, and especially Jane and Minos, one last nod before making his way further ahead.
Instead of the city, he walked toward the distant forest.
He turned around one last ti and noticed that they were like ants in the distance, slowly making their way into the city.
Surprisingly enough, Natasha slung the dead Roman over her shoulder and walked with heavy steps.
Rael let out another sigh.
Well… I guess there’s only one thing left to do.
He focused on his heart, which had been acting strange since earlier.
It made his senses sharper, and it also gave him extre reflexes.
The reflexes were so fast that he dodged the Undead Lord’s attack without even breaking a sweat.
This isn’t the first ti I’ll be gambling.
It felt weird.
His body was numb all over, and his blood ran cold.
He didn’t feel alive, yet he was.
Still, as he was beginning to have so doubts, a certain pop-up flashed in front of his face, causing his eyes to widen.
