Chapter 437: All Problems Can Be Solved With A Cool Black Katana
Rael gave Adam a quick rundown on what had been happening in the Depths, and soon enough, they were on the sa page.
But of course, before the talks could continue further, he pointed at the unconscious lina.
“Wake her up, would you? She’s important,” Rael said plainly.
Adam rolled his eyes and waved his hand. In the next instant, lina jolted awake, her eyes wide as a deep frown appeared on her face.
“Hey… I get that you’re strong and all, but what’s with the pressure shit? Could you kindly keep it to yourself?” lina asked ominously.
Rael elbowed her side. “Your pirate side is seeping out.”
“So what?” lina scoffed, propping her legs on the repaired table. “If I’m going to die, I might as well die knowing that I’ve spoken my mind to the bastard.”
“While I do understand your frustrations, you were soone that should not be a part of the conversation I had with Rael. Trust , it’s not because I dislike you, but simply because rely being aware of what we were talking about would put you in imasurable danger,” Adam replied calmly.
Then, he gave her a thumbs-up. “But fear not, you may join our conversation now.”
“Wow… look at the balls on this guy,” lina muttered, her brow twitching. “Fine. I’ll join, but you are going to compensate for all the troubles I faced, aren’t you?”
“That is what I plan on doing now.” Adam nodded, turning toward Rael. “You wish to conquer Kareth’s continent? More so, he is not prohibiting you from doing so? He really has changed… He used to be such an annoying and stubborn kid in the past.”
He cleared his throat. “But tis have changed, and I shall stop talking about the past…So you two only wish for power that you can use to defeat a Grade 5?”
“That’s the gist of it,” Rael replied with a shrug. “lina here is very close to ascending, so—”
“No need to ascend. Take this,” Adam interjected and pulled out the black katana before tossing it over to lina.
It had startled her to the point where she nearly fell backward, but even so, she managed to catch the katana, holding it tight in her right hand.
“Strength is crucial, but it is never absolute,” Adam said. “Technique is what matters, and your preparedness. Simply put, if I was able to injure Solenne while I was only Grade 6, then you can easily defeat a re Grade 5.”
He smiled. “After all, this is the sa sword I used against Solenne. It is a little special, but you’ll figure that out as you fight with it.”
“Fine, I’ll share in your optimism,” lina replied with a sigh. “Though I fail to understand how a sword would be enough to tip the scales, I guess there’s not much we can do.”
“Well, you won’t be fighting alone,” Adam remarked, pointing at Rael. “He seems to have enough power to rival a Grade 4. Whenever he ascends, he will very likely be able to contest even the highest of Grade 5, and definitely the weakest of Grade 6.”
If only Burger could give such great pep talks, Rael thought, clicking his tongue.
“So you’re saying because we will fight together, we will overco the difference in Grade?” lina repeated, holding out the sword. “So what’s this for?”
“Your swordsmanship is crudely elegant,” Adam said. “Contradiction in combat is what makes you an unpredictable fighter. One mont you swing the sword cleanly, and the next, you throw it directly through their throats… That is sothing I do as well.”
“You really are a bundle of complints, aren’t you?” lina chuckled.
“I give complints where complints are due,” Adam replied flatly. “Do not take it as a sign of affection. I have loved only a single person in my lifeti, and I choose not to love anyone else.”
“Don’t worry, I wasn’t interested,” lina said and stashed away the black katana inside her inventory. “Is that it? Any more boons you plan on giving us?”
“You may consider your lives as a boon, as I chose to spare you,” Adam stated warmly. “I don’t take kindly to visitors, even if they are against Solenne. That weapon is my way of congratulating you for making it this far, but this is where my generosity and amusent ends.”
Rael didn’t expect such words to co out of Adam’s mouth, especially not so suddenly. But a man who had maxed out his insanity debuff seed to match the part especially well.
He waved his hand, making the table disappear, and instead, a blue portal appeared, which would very likely lead them back to the Depths.
But Rael felt like it would be a waste to leave just like that, especially after coming this far.
“So do you plan to sit here for all of eternity?” Rael asked, tilting his head. “Because believe it or not, while you are out here sitting on your ass, Solenne is growing more powerful.”
“I have been sealed away for far too long to consider coming back to my post,” Adam replied flatly. “My only purpose was to destroy the Blazing Sun religion, and after being sealed, I was free. Alcetas is the only reason I’ve yet to end my life, as I truly believe that one day, his mories would co back.”
Free, huh? He doesn’t look that free to . Rael narrowed his eyes, his gaze turning more resolute.
“I’m going to co back here after I’m done with a few things on my end,” Rael said. “After all, I believe what you need is just a little push to get your shit together.”
“Then you best co here when you are more powerful,” Adam replied with a faint smile. “If my intuition is correct, then our goals might be more aligned than I had initially anticipated. So don’t disappoint whenever you return.”
With those words, Adam’s scarlet eyes glowed brighter as he raised his hand.
“Also, a little warning. Controlling an entire continent in the Depths is a very delicate matter, so I trust you know what you are getting yourself into.”
Before Rael could even process what Adam had just said, he felt a strong push.
Without being able to do anything, he was sucked through the portal, and as expected, he arrived right where he left, inside lina’s mansion.
A mont later, lina arrived as well, plopping down on the carpet as she lost her footing.
Through the gap in space, Rael was able to see Adam’s parting figure, yet his back was turned away.
As much as Rael wanted to recruit this guy, he knew that he had gone into that dungeon far too early, and the only reason he ca out of it alive was because of a mutual interest.
After a few seconds, the portal closed, and the mont it did, a scarlet key fell onto the ground, resembling the one Rael had used to get inside the dungeon.
He took a deep breath and calmly stashed it away before turning toward lina.
Their dungeon run was only half successful, since lina didn’t manage to ascend. However, she did get Adam’s katana, so it was better than nothing.
There were also the parting words Adam had left behind, but Rael wasn’t going to scrap his whole plan just because of one warning, even if it ca from a powerful individual.
I’ll co back here very soon, Rael thought with determination. It shouldn’t take long to reach Grade 2 or Grade 3 if I just spam dungeons while also mastering my Laws.
So with that in mind, it was about ti he returned to the main objective at hand.
He extended his hand toward lina and flashed a slight smile.
“Why don’t we pay the Hollow Kingdom a visit?”
